  1. The Word of the Condemned - Loved seeing Lady Felicia, and I loved seeing her teaming with Fr. Brown, Mrs. Devine and Brenda. I guessed midway through that the "sister" was the culprit, but this was still an enjoyable watch. I'm enjoying the season overall, though I wish we saw more of Fr. Brown in the church/solving church-related mysteries.

  2. 17x03 - Murdoch and the Mona Lisa - I liked this episode. Enjoyed seeing Murdoch and Brackenreid teaming up after mostly being apart in the first two episodes. I miss George and Effie, though. And I do wish Julia had more to do. Hoping she'll be more involved in the mystery solving as the season goes on.

So, does the end mean the real Mona Lisa ended up at casa Brackenreid permanently? What's hanging in the Louvre right now-lol

  3. 17x02 - Do the Right Thing, Part 2 - Hilda Fanshaw was evil, and threatening a child is beyond the pale. Still, I feel some type of way about Julia and Murdoch kidnapping her and bringing her to jail. I know they're Our Heroes, but I lost track of all the laws they broke when Fanshaw WASN'T threatening them.

Brackenreid and Margaret's plot was a bit hard to follow, but I enjoyed them working together. Margaret winding up to punch that woman was hilarious.

Great to see everyone back at Station House Four. I continue to adore and root for George and Effie.

I must've missed something - why was Alton there with a gun in the first place?

The Commissioner in the hospital gave me flashbacks to my gall bladder surgery. Yikes.

Alton said he was planning to use the gun to scare the Commissioner into listening to him.

  5. First episode of season 13 has dropped on BritBox.

Strong episode to start the new season and celebrate 100 episodes. The mystery was good, and it was great seeing the team back together. I'm mostly meh on Neville, but I really liked him in this episode, particularly his compassion for Alton. Poor Alton's suffering and turmoil really broke my heart.

Also enjoyed the "are we cool" scene between Naomi and Marlon. I like their partnership and friendship. I wonder if that scene means they're steering away from any romance between those two.

So delighted to see Camille. Sara Martins is still stunningly beautiful. We got a Ruby mention and a photo cameo of Florence! All in all a great start to the season.

  6. Interesting. I watched those movies before I watched the show. The movies are good, but I think of them as their own thing. They have a grittier, more sobering vibe. Fun fact: Peter Outerbridge, who plays Murdoch in the movies, guest stars in an episode of the show, season 8's "Shipwreck."

  7. New season's begun on Ovation in the US.

17x01 - Do the Right Thing, Part 1 - They could've titled this episode "ALL the Murders" - lol. Loved seeing Sorcha Cusack (previously of Father Brown) in this episode. Also liked seeing Margaret helping Brackenreid investigate the murder on the ship. I'm so used to bingeing episodes of this show that I'm mad I have to wait a week for the conclusion.

  8. Loved the first two episodes. The murder at the Olimpicks was a good mystery. I thought I'd guessed the culprit but that was a twist. Plus, I loved the random announcements over the PA ("We're out of Victoria sponge!")

I'm digging the pairing of Sullivan and Mrs. Devine.

  9. I liked the new Christmas special (it might be the best one yet) Compelling mystery and fun interactions between our core characters. I also really liked Neville's mum. She was so kind to the missing woman's fiance, and she was a hoot with Catherine. Pumped for season 13.

  10. Finally saw this movie last month at an independent theater in New York, and I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal was 🔥. Through their performances, they conveyed the depth of the relationship and longing between Jake and Silva. Jason Fernandez and Jose Condessa, the actors portraying young Jake and Silva, were also great, even though they didn't have a ton of screen time. And of, course, this being Pedro Almodovar, this is a beautiful film. The landscapes! The colors! All enchanting. The plot's pretty straightforward, but the heart of the movie is Silva and Jake's relationship.

This movie is shown alongside Almodovar's other English-language short, The Human Voice, which is basically a one-woman show featuring Tilda Swinton as a woman struggling with accepting a breakup. It's Tilda, so of course it's good.

Neither film is on a streaming platform in the US yet, but I'll be rewatching both if/when they are.

  11. "I think we should find shelter before anything is brought." It's official, T'Lyn is my favorite on this show.

Love that they brought in the history of TNG's Lower Decks episode. My ears perked up as soon as I heard the name Nichols Locarno. And I love that Mariner knew both Sito and Nick.

I liked Marniner and Ma'ah first fighting then teaming up. I was touched when he said "Beckett is honorable; she would not betray us."

Tendi is such a delight! Loved her swooping in as Mistress of the Winter Constellations!

Freeman, Shax, and Rutherford were also fun. Of COURSE she had a plan to get that info about Locarno!

    This finale should be interesting.

Badgey achieving enlightenment and seeing the Koala made me laugh.

    That was hilarious.

I won't miss Badgey. I could learn to like Goodgey if he doesn't turn on Rutherford and crew.

It was nice to see the normal pairings switched up. We don't often get to see Mariner with Rutherford and Boimler with Tendi. I liked it.

It's interesting that the AIs all had similar realizations - dominating isn't all it's cracked up to be.
