  1. In case that was a question as to what he meant, he's talking about paying back student loans. Apologies if that was already understood.
  2. Season 5 will be a redemption season, apparently. In a new location. It didn't mention teams, just 10 contestants. I know I recognized a voice...I want to say it was Megan from last season?
  3. Well, well, well. Still gathering my thoughts on that one. Are fish truly the only viable option on Vancouver Island?
  4. I hate that show. Double post, sorry. So I have to wonder...my husband and I have complained about this at length every season. Why is it no one, in four seasons, has caught any land animal larger than a mouse? Are there no squirrels, no rabbits, no creatures of any kind present on Vancouver Island? Or Patagonia, for that matter. We're really tired of Alone [But Not Really]: Who Can Starve the Slowest.
  5. What?! I've missed that. They cannot be in their 30s! They act and argue like young 20s. Oh, my. I'm 28, and I'm embarrassed by these two. The show should forcibly tap them out per the "Unbearable to Watch" rule. Which I've just made up. But seriously think bears consideration.
  6. I thought there were always 10 episodes. Which would leave, what...three episodes? But then there were always 10 contestants, and they were ALONE. So who knows!
  7. So when they started. Ha! :)
  8. So did I! When they made it back without incident, I turned to my husband and said, "I'll be honest, I'm disappointed."
  9. It didn't even have to be that long ago. I went to Romania in 2007, but without an international cell phone plan or regular internet access I couldn't keep it touch. I was only able to call home using a phone card about once a week and only for a few minutes. I missed my family, but I had a great time! I was 17 and stayed there for three weeks. I know I wasn't alone in the woods (though neither are they this year!), but I was away from my family. I don't think the comparison to war was to say the experiences are the same, simply to point out that being away from one's family is a reality for so many. War, vacation, work...there are so many occasions to be away from one's loved ones for weeks to months at a time. Hence it's always frustrating to see them use that as an excuse for tapping.
  10. In their Tap Out Q&A. http://www.history.com/shows/alone/blog/misc/tap-out-qa-chris-and-brody-wilkes
  11. I am just completely baffled by the "explanation" Chris gives about tapping out: "The gift I chose to give my family, instead of my half of the prize money, was the experience of being chosen over money. In the end, my half of the prize money didn’t seem like a fair trade off for what they were experiencing." That's some serious narcissism. The money will do more for your family than your mere presence after a two-week absence!
  12. I believe they're from Mississippi, but yes. The terrain in both states is very flat. The only similarity I would say is the insane amount of brush. I live in Louisiana, and you're not going into the woods without something to cut a trail.
  13. Same here. Something about the clips showing them at home gave me the impression they are spoiled by their parents. And they act like it. They also do not seem very knowledgeable. Actually almost nobody does this season. I will defend Brody and his "mountain" only because I live in Louisiana, below sea level. To us simple flatlander folk, that there is a mountain. ;)
  14. A fancy way of saying he creates YouTube videos. Or something similar. Haha.
