I don't know what the real Fagan's story was. But what we were shown here was a very clearly abusive man continuing a campaign of abuse against his ex wife. What's scariest to me is that I don't think the writers, producers, actors, etc actually know that that's what they were portraying.

I sort of agree.  The fact that a government agency was dictating when he could see his children is proof that there is more to his story than a "guy out of work."

Was the Queen really not invited to the victory parade?  Hasn't the Queen always decided when the weekly meetings were over?  Maggie looking at her watch and saying "gotta go" seemed really farfetched.

GA still sucks as Thatcher.  Her performance is like an SNL parody, but some of it is the ridiculous dialogue she's having to recite.

The Queen may have to keep her political persuasions a secret, but the writers and producers of this show sure aren't.

I love Tami Taylor, but yeah, the notion that she was always sacrificing for Coach just wasn’t what we witnessed.

EXACTLY!!  It's like the writers totally forgot that she refused to go with him to TMU and he ultimately quit (in the middle of the season) because of that.  In the real world, I would think she was a total moron for refusing to go; but I get that it was a show and they had to create some drama.  What I never understood was how unenthusiastic she was about the head coaching job he was offered in Florida when everybody knew the show was ending.  She didn't refuse to go, but she didn't encourage it either.  It made no sense and it felt like the writers were trying to make some kind of point about gender roles that didn't really fit this show or those two characters.  The dialogue between Tyra and Tim in their final scene together added to my suspicions of that, too.

I think that they did. If you want to see more of FINE ASS Stuart Martin (Silas), he is in Miss Scarlett & The Duke (but not as hot, more clothes and a beard)- that is only 6 episodes but we should be getting a season 2. (PBS)

Miss Scarlet is how I discovered Stuart Martin.  After I finished that, I had to find more of Mr. Martin so I watched Jamestown.  So obviously, I thought he was pretty smoldering as William Wellington.   😘

It didn't seem that strange to me. She knew hunting took place at dawn, knew the family was checking her out. She wasn't seeing herself as an 18-year-old girl and knew he wasn't either. She was a potential Princess of Whales and they both knew it. Why would she be that freaked out at Charles' father telling her they were going hunting? I mean, yeah, obviously he's pulling a power move and testing her by doing it the way he did it, but she knew what he was doing and why, and was fairly prepared for it. She just didn't know what form it would take until that moment.

You don't think that would be awkward (not the hunting, just the fact that they were strangers with a huge age gap) ?  It was portrayed as way too congenial to be believable to me.  I did a lot of eye rolling during that part.

  5. I've read though most of this thread and I can't believe no one commented on the weirdness of Phillip and Diana!  Phillip demands that an18 year old girl go out hunting alone with him at the break of dawn!  It just seems so bizarre.  The father of a guy you've been out with once whose also the husband of the Queen!  Most 18 year old girls would have been scared to death, yet Diana is portrayed as totally cool with it.  I don't think she was as naïve as she is sometimes portrayed, but this was OTT ridiculous.  There's no way that happened in real life.

Also, GA sucks as Thatcher.  The gigantic hair and the weird way she holds her head reminds of Dolly Parton trying to keep her wig from falling off.

Generally, I liked Tami, but damn I didn’t like the shit she gave coach so she could take the position in Philadelphia.   He had worked his whole adult life to be a coach, and she’d been a school counselor for a whopping 2-3 years?   The idea that his career was derailed just stunk to high hell for me.

So glad to know I'm not the only one that feels this way.  I just finished a rewatch and I posted almost the exact same thing on another message board and you'd would have thought I said something sacreligious!  Eric Taylor absolutely deserved a promotion and the show should have ended with him taking the head coaching job in Florida.  It would have been a nice way to show that his players wanted good things for him too; since Street put Shane State in contact with him.

  7. I just finished watching all 24 episodes of this show and the ending was an awful cliffhanger!  The show was a bizarre mashup of Game of Thrones style violence and gore, Lord of the Rings (Jocelyn's obsession with Crabtree's ring), Poldark (the eclipse) with a little Supernatural thrown in the mix.  I'm guessing they didn't know season 3 was the last series?  Yeardley needed to get his comeuppance and Silas should have returned to England to find Alice and their son.

I think that the show just wants to cut these characters loose, write them off the show.

That's what makes it weird.  They aren't regular characters so why bother to kill them?  Most of them don't even have to be mentioned again unless the show wants to do another story about them.  So why slam the door on that possibility?  It's like they're only doing it for schlock.

I'm wondering if Jack really gave Kasie the elephant painting, or if Kasie just helped herself to it.  I thought Gibbs looked extremely surprised when he saw it in Kasie's lab, and perhaps Jack had given it to Gibbs, and he had not removed it from Jack's office yet.  Did anyone get that idea?

I thought the same.  Boring episode, what was the point of killing off Emily?  This show has become nothing but tragedy porn.

The NYPD has a forced retirement age of 63 I think it is. I guess in Blue Bloods NYC that doesn't exist or the show wants us to believe Frank is a lot younger than he appears to be.  The forced retirement age is why Cragen was written off L&O: SVU which to me started that show's downward spiral into what it is now which I like to call "The Olivia Benson Hour" or "Olivia Benson's: SVU.

Frank is a civilian so not subject to the mandatory retirement age, but there has been an episode that addressed the forced retirements.  The show implied that 60 ain't what it used to be and the issue should be revisited.

I think the actual TV rating for All Creatures were higher, but I have been surprised at the number of my younger friends that have watched Miss Scarlet, and they watch not via the regular PBS station, but on Amazon Prime, ITunes, etc.

Yes, I would agree that Miss Scarlet appeals more to a younger audience.  I watched and liked both, but if I had to choose between the two I'd go with MSATD because the sex appeal is off the charts!    😉  If/when it lands on Netflix, Prime, or Hulu; I can see it developing a cult following.  Anyway, I liked William so much; I've decided to give Jamestown a view in spite of the horrendous reviews.

He may not be thinking that far ahead...or he is okay with her having a lover and passing off her children as his heirs.

I thought of that, but I think William is the only one she would want and there's no way he'd go for that!

William (Stuart Martin) is a fine specimen of manhood*

Yes, he is.  This was a good episode.  I don't think Eliza would ever agree to a fake marriage with Mr. Parker, but when he made the offer he said "no intimacy"...so what was his plan for heirs?  He admitted that's all his mother really cared about.  Me thinks Mr. Parker didn't think his plan through.

  14. I'm enjoying this show, but this was not my favorite episode.  If you're interested in Kate Warne, she already got the TV treatment.  The Pinkertons aired for one season in 2014-2015.  It's not a great show, but it's worth a watch if you can find it streaming somewhere.  It was on Netflix, but it's gone now.

We're going through the all the seasons right now, since my dd is now old enough to watch them.  We're halfway through season 3.  The one episode that I don't get and truly hate is the one with Barry and Mindy's wedding.  I actually left the room and let my dd watch it on her own though came back at the end to complain about it.

1- why is Rachel in the wedding party.  I get that she's supposed to be Mindy's best friend, but why would Barry, whom she dumped at the altar not that long ago, want her there.

2- Why is Ross one of the ushers when he's known Barry and Mindy for 5 minutes?

3- Why were Monica and Richard invited?

Maybe I missed or forgot the explanations but ugh with this one!

I assumed Monica, Ross, Rachel, Mindy, and Barry all grew up together.  It's kind of weird that they're all the wedding of Rachel's ex, but it's a funny episode.
