I’m with Snarkastikate, I wouldn’t want to be associated with her not because of her weight but because of her attitude, her way of dress and most of all because of her hair-triggered temper.  No thanks.

The other three are fun yet dignified.

    Totally agree!

The PT woman was barefoot in Lisa's bedroom, unless I was mistaken.  *shudder*

😂 I thought the same thing so I rewound to double-check. I think (hope) she was actually wearing nude-colored flats.

Just curious - why are posters using spoiler tags?

I think I posted before it had been shown on regular, live TV. I get Discovery Plus and they put the show out there early. People sometimes get upset if you talk about it before they’ve even had a chance to see it.

I would remove the spoiler tag now, but I don’t know how to do that. 🤷‍♀️

  4. I couldn’t believe they got rid of the garage in order to find space for the bathroom. Surely in a house that size they could have reconfigured somewhere else to find the space. Remember, they are in prime tornado and hail country. You really have to have a garage or your car will be in the repair shop several times a year!

And why did Ben waste his time and good wood on that inexpensive ,what , 15-year-old kitchen table?

LOL I can identify with Ben regarding the table! The first piece of “real” furniture I ever bought was a kitchen/dining room table in 1989. It has been so beat up that I’ve had it stripped and refinished twice since then. I’m sure I’ve spent much more to refinish it than it cost to begin with, but that table symbolizes my first job, my first home and so much more. It will probably go with me to my grave!!

I know Texas has no mask mandates; however, I believe medical facilities in all states have some masking procedures in place, ESPECIALLY with all the co-morbidities this guy had!

The timeline threw me off too. I live in Texas and all medical facilities here are still very strict about masks. So I thought Dr. Now’s  scenes must be pre-Covid. But then I spotted random masks in the audience at the church so that had to be filmed fairly recently.

  7. I have a question that I’ve wondered about for ages. Maybe someone here knows the answer.

When they show these 600lb folks working out with a personal trainer, do the trainers have expertise in exercise for the morbidly obese? How does the trainer know how far to push them?  In other words, how would the trainer know how much huffing, puffing and sweating is just good exertion and when is it bordering on a crisis?

Watching this show, all I can think of is, "What have we stooped to as a society?" When people like this have become popular TV personalities? We all make fun of them (at least, in our heads)  in Walmart, then go home and watch them religiously every week on TV.

I feel the same way, but it’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You WANT to look away, but you just can’t do it. I don’t know - maybe it’s just human nature.  But I hate the fact that I watch this absurdity every week!

  9. I know people approach situations differently, but I’m amazed at Tammy’s attitude that everyone should approach every situation with the thought of “will Tammy like it?” I’m probably too far the other direction, but I absolutely hate having to impose upon someone to help me - even when I know they don’t mind and truly want to help. The idea of going through life totally dependent on family simply because you refuse to take normal corrective action is mind-boggling. But I can also guarantee you, if that was my family, Tammy would have faced some serious tough love years ago and then, if she didn’t improve, she would have been left alone to fend for herself.

I thought she was going to tackle him there for a moment.

I thought the same thing and, actually, I think Dr. P. did too. He jumped up and backed away VERY quickly.  Thank goodness he could got out of her reach before she could get close to him.

Tammy just stared her down with so much anger and hatred in her eyes as if she killed a small child or something.

I can never decide if Tammy is truly as hateful and bitter as she looks or if she just has the ultimate resting bitch face.  She always looks as though she absolutely despises everybody and everything she sees.

I hoped that the Montana clinic would send him to a warehouse or somewhere with a scale that goes higher, because they must know where some are.
Someone, maybe the Slaton sisters?, were weighed at a warehouse once.
I thought maybe his mom might have had a stroke at one time, the way her mouth was.
That was indeed a who lot of nothing.

I was so confused by the whole weight thing. At the beginning of the episode, he said he had been weighed two months earlier. I think maybe he weighed 740 at that point?? Anyway, when the clinic scale couldn’t weigh him, why didn’t he just go back wherever he went two months ago? I think he had been in Montana longer than that so the scale would have been local.

Except, Ryan's episode is being called the lost episode, it was announced for last season, then all of a sudden it was scheduled for this season.    However, I see why they only showed this when they were desperate for footage.

Episode should have just stayed lost!

Well, that was a supersized Nothing Burger with extra cheese. If you didn’t watch, don’t bother. Absolutely nothing happened the entire two hours!

And when you said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happened, you meant it!! No weigh-in, no trip to Houston, no excursions to grocery store, no restaurant visit, no trying to workout in a gym - it was a bizarre episode! My theory is that it was old, pre-Covid footage that they had originally shelved when he ghosted Dr. Now. Then a few months ago, someone dusted it off and made an episode out of it. What a waste of TV time!

I'll be brief regarding the episode for now and just say, what a complete and utter trainwreck of an episode. Last season I signed up for Discovery plus and they stopped adding new episodes after a few so I cancelled and ended up buying episodes on my prime account. This season I signed up again for Discovery through Amazon at a special price. Once again, only the first 3 episodes were added and nothing since. On top of that, new episodes beyond #3 aren't even showing up on prime to purchase. TLC isn't included in my cable plan and my only way to watch now is altered videos I found on YouTube. Are there any other Discovery plus/Discovery plus via Prime that has this problem? Hopefully the same doesn't happen with 1000 lb Sisters. I'll come back and do more actual episode snark later tomorrow I hope.

I’m totally confused. I subscribe to Discovery + and it has all the seasons and episodes out there. I didn’t go through Amazon to get it, but I don’t know why that would make a difference. In fact, Discovery + sometimes has the episodes out there earlier than the national broadcast. I get the ad-free subscription if that makes any difference.

  15. There were a few episodes of My 600 LB Life that were infuriating to me because the patient was obviously mentally incapable of grasping the importance of what was happening in their life.  And Dr. Now just kept haranguing the patient expecting something to miraculously change. Those people needed in-patient psychiatric care or they were never going to be able to lose any weight. Some of those patients have since died.

Tammy is in that category of patient. She needs to be hospitalized and treated for both her weight and her psychiatric issues at the same time. I actually feel sorry for her because, even though she is totally obnoxious, I think she has severe mental problems that have been left untreated and there doesn’t seem to be a good way to get her the help she needs.
