  1. My impression from that scene was that the mattress itself is simply covered by a fitted sheet, so we can't see it, and that it likely is worse than that terrible base.
  2. I think your observation regarding where the poundticipants generally are on the income scale is very acute. It looks like a very ugly exploitation of the poor, by fast and unhealthy food suppliers exploiting people who live in food deserts, or who have been poorly educated about their food choices (or both). It's pretty ugly, really.
  3. I was hoping that would be a "deep dish commode".
  4. I was honesty very confused by that, and perhaps she was/is. Gay is one thing. Transgender is another. Both ARE possible for one person. Neither is really relevant to me, but I'm still confused.
  5. I would only assume that because she complained that Christian was leaving two weeks before the rent was due. I imagine that could mean she was counting on him either paying the rent, or at least a substantial share.
  6. Bang on! I don't want to offend anyone here, but I rarely see anything on this show that I would personally even consider "food".
  7. I disagree with the "non-supportive boyfriend". I didn't see it that way at all. He did virtually everything for her, financially and physically. He was even the driving force trying to save her life by changing her lifestyle. He left his family, friends, job... his life, in essence, behind, for her, and got bombastic abuse in return. Do you think her behavior becomes better when the cameras are off? I don't. I think it gets far, far worse. Could you live with that? I couldn't. Leaving an abuser is simply not supporting the abuse, or allowing it to become a physical threat.
  8. I'm 100% convinced that pulling his hair out is a manipulative gesture, as is "suicide". He could at some point commit suicide, but it would be a miscalculation, not an intention, on his part.
  9. My ex-sister-in-law is a nurse, and also a nasty b***h. She told us about a blind patient who was making her way down a hallway to a bathroom... the patient didn't make it, and peed on the floor. Said nurse's reaction: "You did that on purpose!" She gave the patient supplies and made her clean it up. She was quite proud of herself for it. As far as the Steven urine dump goes, it was more likely to be someone other than a literal nurse who cleaned it up.
  10. Steven's smile reminded me of Vincent D'Onofrio's character from "Full Metal Jacket", after he lost his marbles. Fortunately, as long as he's slower than the slowest Zombie, we should be safe.
  11. Oddly, that's not James K. featured in the article's photo. The first clue is: he's sitting.
  12. Dad went to great lengths to give his son a chance. That is the beautiful, uplifting moment in this entire story. The rest was black comedy. Sad, terrific stuff... If this was a work of fiction, it would be Oscar-worthy.
  13. It doesn't seem very intuitive, does it? I notice on the program, "Intervention", that the addicts often will look for that one last hit prior to leaving for treatment. I think the only hope for understanding the disorders is to understand that if rational control existed, the disorder would not exist.
