I would disagree since the guy only went as far as touching her leg. Murdering him for that seems excessive. She only knew he was a pervert because someone else told her he was, not really by his actions. His coming into her room at night could be explained away because he thought he hear something. It doesn't help that the police was there and the guy was subdued and being arrested when she decided to stab him. If it was me on the jury, I wouldn't be sympathetic to her case.

The first time was just touching her legs. She didn't answer when Angie asked her again at the house. It's a voluntary manslaughter conviction or a not guilty verdict depending. Her mother would be the villain given she gave her daughter to a sexual predator by dating him. The only thing is getting a private firm to take her case with no money, but the story would make the news,  so she would find one.

This episode sealed for me that I do not want Nell and Edward to become a romantic pair. They are giving more bickering sibling vibes.

The guest stars as the ghosts continue to shine on this show. Really good casting.

I sensed it very early on. It's a gift 😄 but MAYBE they won't go there?  Even though the the tired tropes are there. Unless Edward is gay or TPTB introduce the female version of him.

  3. With a good lawyer,  the girl wasn't going to any time or much time. She stabbed her abuser in the heat of passion. I really dislike it when shows make things more complicated than they need to be. I'm extremely tired of Will and Angie and it's only been 11 episodes. Only two more are left this season. I need to know if Will has ever had any real romantic relationships outside of his toxic Co dependency relationship with Angie?

There was a quick reference to their being bank and phone records supporting the notion that she was a dealer.  What those  phone and bank records might be, the show didn't go into. To do the writers' work for them, maybe Jason had a burner phone planted along with the coke in the apartment where there were calls to another burner phone/Scumbag Informant's phone? Again, for this plot to work, Jason and Eric would have had to:

    1. Had access to at least six Ks of coke. (I will accept as a background premise that between them a Manhattan finance bro and a NY cop with Scumbag Informant could figure out how to obtain the coke though.)

    2. Planted said coke both in the son's bag and around the house (Jason presumably still has the keys to the apartment so that's not too difficult)

    3. Created false incriminating phone and banking records (That one requires bribing multiple people, but with money being basically no object, doable)

    4. Tipped off the cops involved in the traffic stop that they should be on the lookout for Morgan and ask to search the trunk of the car, hoping that Morgan was not like "Screw that, you have no right to search my trunk" (P.S. when the cop said that they could get a warrant to search the trunk of her car, it seems to me that there's no way they could, or at least, could keep her detained while they did so.)

To be fair, the prosecution had the aforementioned phone records and bank records. the coke, plus Scumbag Informant's testimony that he was working for Morgan. If Scumbag Informant had been a better liar/was better briefed, he might have gotten away with it too.

If you didn't know the truth, which is more plausible:

The Informant, the bank and phone records and the coke found in Morgan's car and home all show that she is a high-level dealer, or Jason spent (at least) tens of thousands of dollars to frame Morgan with fake bank and phone records,  a scumbag informant, in revenge for losing a custody battle?

Dealers have connections. It never just one person to build an organization. One person is the King/Queen Pin,  but they have many other connections. You cannot do it alone and with only one foot soldier. Where did the coke come from? Who was her connections?  Phone records?  Okay,  who was she calling?  Bank records?  Okay, how much of it was tax free money?  Both she and her husband works. Also given he was her husband. The feds would have a lot questions for him. There's no way he would know nothing. It also takes the feds years to build cases against big drug dealers. In reality we know serious charges court cases take way longer than what TV shows us.

Lots of things don’t add up on this one. Morgan’s attorney could probably tie Flaco to the brother, there were likely times she was in school meetings which could be verified when he claimed she was selling drugs, they had no proof of her getting the drugs to begin with, they could probably place Flaco elsewhere at some of these times.

And if she was an actual dealer. I'm sure the witness list would involve more than one person. Of course the dumb brother cop doesn't mention any actual important details no matter how big or small. The DA also had no evidence those two people even knew each other. The guy has a record. I doubt this case would have ever made it all the way to a court trial. There's zero evidence to support said drug dealing. She went from teacher, married to a well off guy to drug dealer in three months?! And it conventionally happened in the middle of a nasty divorce/custody fight. WTF was that ending?

I don't get Todd and Susan, from the episode where we met her fiancee, it sounded like they only went on a few dates?  Is this really 'the one that got away' scenario, or maybe I misunderstood the timeline.  Would not be the first time that happened to me on this show.

I ship them, but there needs to be more backstory on that. The timeline is confusing. Susan is not that far removed from law school. What year did Todd meet Veronica? He wasn't dating Susan then, so has to be a high school sweethearts situation because they know the same people.

If the ratings were good, they could surely come up with new stories. Even if they solve the murder, there would be other Alaska stories, like maybe the one about the corrupt land deal they've currently been hinting at and using as a bargaining chip at the newspaper.

Hell, there are crime shows that go for decades, with a case of the week. One case per season could theoretically last a show many seasons.

IF it is saved. It will only be because of a possible writers strike.

Two people that disagree on something so fundamental as abortion rights and religion should know that about each other before they get married.  It's unfortunate that this is how they discovered their differences, but she was right to walk away and he should be grateful she didn't pretend to be okay with it to "keep a man." This in no way implies I agree with her position.

Given they live in a southern state.  I'm surprised this never came up, especially with abortion being front page news for a minute now. He knows lot of Conservatives. His own parents are probably Conservatives.

Well this pond is sadistic, huh? Is it taking you where “you need to be” or where it “needs you to be?” Because it really doesn’t do anyone any favors.

And Kat & Alice got over the accident a lot quicker than I’d imagined. I see they’re going with the if you hadn’t caused it, something else would have angle, but I’d still need a little more than a day for that one.

Why doesn't the pond take you to buy the winning lottery numbers in your state?  😂

  11. I also didn't see the 1814 twist coming. We totally thought that was an ancestor at the beginning of the season. So who else can use the pond to time travel?  It's totally unrealistic that only Alice and Kat know about it. With Elliott being a science teacher and all, I'm surprised he never tried it.  It cannot be a Laudry bloodline thing if the dog can do it. 😂   I understand why Elliott broke it off with Kat. You need to live for yourself. At this point we don't even know too much about him. We know he also moved away,  got married and divorced. Years later moved back to his hometown and became a science teacher. But his entire existence so far has been all Kat and Alice.

  12. Turner's accent keeps appearing and disappearing. Why didn't they just let the actor keep his real accent?  It's dumb that the GCPD thinks these kids can kill Batman and do everything they are accusing them of. Damn, a billionaire doesn't have any hidden money his son can get his hands on?

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think this would have been better as a movie rather than a series. It seems like they are really stretching the material to fill all the episodes. The plot is moving at a glacial episode, Katestretch minuscule developments from week to week. I liked the show initially but it's become tedistretcho idea what they will do with a second season.

I actually agree and brought up the same issue some weeks ago. I enjoy it because it's different compared a lot of other shows on TV, but I don't know how long they can stretch it out. In the episode, Kate graduated from high school and moved to Minnesota. She stayed gone for over 16 years. Her daughter just met her grandmother. So is time going to change again? Create a new timeline?  Present Kate goes back to look for Jacob?  Young Elliott also left town after graduation?  Is it possible that Colton had a heart attack?  But an autopsy would have shown that.

Bangs notwithstanding, I do like that the newsroom on this show is populated by people who look like normal everyday people. Really, the whole show is like that.

Years ago, someone I knew met a New York Times reporter. She was all excited on the way there, and when they actually met she was disappointed because "She looked like a normal everyday person! I was picturing someone much more glamorous!"

TV usually makes everyone look slick, no matter their character's role. I like that any of these people would blend in to a scene out of my real everyday life. I think it makes the show more grounded and accessible.

And it's not pretending it's the '90s. The last decade when newspapers were still sitting in the VIP section. It's very grounded. Sadly,  it's most likely getting cancelled.

This show really isn't working for me. I think I might be done with it. The graphics-heavy mission briefings feel cartoonish. If they want to lean into parody then it would be fine but it's a little too illustrated to take seriously. And I'm still too distracted by Helen's heavy eye makeup. Even when she's teaching a class of students via Zoom she's got serious club-hopping eye makeup on. Tone it down, lady.

I will not stop saying this, even when it's cancelled. Any series based on the blockbuster True Lies should be on a paid cable channel or a streaming network. TL was the first movie to cost a hundred million to make and it was rated R. I didn't even pause it when I went into another room.

Maybe I've watched too many tv shows, but wouldn't an autopsy have shown that the horrible woman was shot by someone from below? And would they have tested Joanna's hand for gunshot residue? (Or does her confession mean they don't have to?)

And wouldn't any real police work have turned up the holes in the story? Or the phone records/location shown that the son went to the house (not to mention the Uber records?)

I know what they were going for, but they didn't get there.

Remember the formerly obese woman who took the fall for her niece's death?  But that was a totally different set of circumstances. She ended up getting her charges dropped,  losing a lot of weight and finally living life. The cases are nothing alike.

  17. I'm no legal expert, but without evidence, how can they charge Brenda with any crime?  Throughout history victims of various crimes have had supporters who use violence to attack the defendants in those cases. I've never heard of parents of murder victims being charged with anything their supporters did?  It is because the two women knew each other? The DA believes they were working together?  #confused 😕

    Ooooh. Right.
I knew Alison eating the entire pizza meant something, but I somehow missed the pregnancy signaling.
Vomiting or just nausea may be eye-rollingly trite, but it is what I experienced.
However, I never gained "extra" weight during pregnancy, and that seems to be the exception rather than the norm; overeating as a cure for pregnancy nausea is likely more readily recognized by viewers.

My SIL's second pregnancy was hell in the very early stages. The morning sickness. She said it wasn't that bad when she was pregnant with her daughter (years before she started dating my brother.) But they say every pregnancy is different and all of her pregnancies were different.  She did it three times and was done. That's enough in the modern world.

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this episode and I’d also love to see Ivan return to the show, sporadicly.  Interesting character played perfectly by a talented actress.

Is this the last episode of the season?  Thanks.

The season finale airs May 18.

  20. You cannot hack a car as old as Todd's car. I swear Hollywood hacking gets more ridiculous every year. She said her foster parents were just  "extra"  which was enough for a judge to grant emancipation. Allison eating the whole pizza makes me believe a pregnancy storyline is coming. Or maybe she was just that hungry?  😂 Leslie Silva acts like she's on a totally different show.  Ava and Todd were fun together.

I’m afraid it is someone from the past that causes him to swerve, mainly because it’s a clip they show repeatedly, and I can’t think of a reason his death scene would be filmed if it weren’t crucial to the plot. Of course if we stick to the “we can’t change the past” rule, it could be a fakeout, and he dies in a different accident later.

I’ve been making a lot of false assumptions based on this being a Hallmark show, but this series breaks from the formula quite a bit. It reminds me of when I watched the first season of “You” on Lifetime - I couldn’t convince anyone to check it out because of the Lifetime stigma, and I’m having the same issue here. I tell people this one is different, but no one believes me 😜

This is my first Hallmark TV series. I also watched the first season of "You" live on Lifetime, but I still haven't watched the Netflix season. Can they bring in another possible love interest for Alex because she and her classmate have no chemistry. I'm glad she has moved on from Nick, though. Yeah, the crying woman will turn out to be Alex.

Poor Gabriel. I certainly hope he reconsiders.

I do remember Gloria’s friend, a bit frustrated that she viewed him as only a friend.

Happy to see Jr. stand up to his father, but I don’t trust Dad. I need to go back and watch the earlier episode where the “secret road” scheme was revealed. I remember it had implications of real corruption (in league with the politician), and involved public lands, but I can’t remember what kind of illicit grab they were trying to make.

If this was a different show,  Aaron would have killed his father or hired someone to do it. Lol At this point I'm just watching to finish it because I don't see it getting an S2.

  23. Of course the father wasn't having an affair. This is Hallmark after all and it's not that kind of show. He was going to meet up with someone he thought could help find Jacob. He used all of the family's money on it. Alex doesn't have chemistry with Spencer and the time travel relationship with Nick is creepy.
