Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know if this is a limited series? Seems to me, if they succeed in bringing back Jacob, however that would work, the show would be over. I love the initial premise of time travel, but don't quite get how to correlate the ages. And if they can go back 200 years, can/will they also go forward? I find it confusing and need this forum to help me figure it out!

There's only so much you can do when time travel only involves the same people,  but I never put it pass certain networks to run a story into the ground.

This was a fun bottle episode taking place entirely in the courthouse. It was a little hard to follow at first, but I appreciate its ambition.

It's odd that Allison is such a sad sack. She was even before her divorce. They seem to be doubling down on that and I'm not sure what to make of it. But it really worked this episode for the sake of comedy.

This is just such a fun, cleverly written show. I don't have a la cleverly written showyond how much I enjoy it. I hope the ratings are good.

They should have made Allison the  "Straight Man/Woman" of the show instead of a blue room with no ceiling while it's storming outside.  ETA: But she was funny in this episode.

  3. Am I evil for not caring about teen Elliott's heartbreak? They have known each forever. He should have made a move.  She either turns you down or kiss you. I have never been a fan of this romantic subgenre unless the leads have insane chemistry and you can see they both want it.

Their name (they specifically said they are non-binary) is Casey Goodwin. They're grandchild of the wealthy woman, Evelyn Goodwin, who recently passed away and in whose home they found the painting of Kat.

I suspect they and Alice will become friends.  Not sure about love interest. There is no reason to assume Alice is straight as opposed to bi/pan. But we've also been given no evidence to suggest it.

The boy in the shop appears to be the next potential love interest for Alice. He was definitely a little flirty with the comments after the shakes spilling. But, if Casey is a slated for a romantic interest, he may end up being more of a detour on the way to them.

It would be interesting if he were Jacob II checking out his future descendants.  But since he apparently went to school with Alice, I assume he's just a boy in town (despite looking like he's in his early 20s).

I loved the whole thing with Alice blurting out that they were going to lose the farm and Del's reaction to both Alice's concerns (loving) and the havoc she'd created in the town.

Alex needs a non cis male BFF. Her mother,  grandmother and boss should not be her only friends. Casey should feel that role. Alice a teenage girl. Rather it be another cis girl or non-binary. She needs a friend.

  5. I don't understand the reason for the fake friends tiny subplot. It added nothing to the overall plot. If there's this huge group who's into a book series. Why spend time photoshopping on social media?  There's a huge group who likes the same thing you do. Also if the book series is this huge thing. Various types of women would be there. His plan was to pick off every black woman at the events?  Gabby's late father talked to Sir, but never assumed he took his daughter? I know the police can be awful when it comes to missing minority children,  but nobody assumed a teacher took her? Did Sir return to work everyday after the kidnapping?  I guess they just brushed her off as a runaway, even though she didn't fit the common characteristics. Of course, the victim ended up at Zeke's of all places.

I also question how they make money! Or does Zeke have so much they don't need it? Are they all getting paid? It doesn't seem like any of them have side jobs.

With Sir, I get the sense it's more of a paternal thing. He thinks he can be a better father to her than her own father, in part because he can teach her. But sort of in the stereotypical "Daddy's Little Girl" thing, where he wants to be the only man in her life, even if it's not romantic or sexual. Hence, his jealousy of that guy she liked when he kidnapped her and of Trent.

Like on "The Flash." They somehow had an endless amount of money to burn without making money! lol Even that would involve uncomfortable abuse and murder.  S1 of "Will Trent"  was better even though they had to tone down the original content for TV. The irony is broadcast television took more risks in the past.

  7. I agree. How the hell do they make money?  I swear Sir is the most bizarre kidnapper I have ever seen. His motive doesn't even make sense because he doesn't have one. Not a pedophile or a child killer. He kidnapped Gabi, but the creator says he did not rape her, even he though he believes they belong together in his twisted mind. He kept her for a whole year but didn't sexually abuse her. The series has some good acting, but it's like a parody of everything that's wrong with network shows in this modern era.

  8. How rich are/were Zeke's parents?  He can help get the business up and running and just throw out a million dollars?  And how long has he been living in that basement? There's no way he can have a real relationship while suffering with severe agoraphobia. I don't care what anyone says. Sir, would also be a child sexual predator, too. He kidnapped three young girls that we know of. He hates his mother and women in general.  The series prefers the outlandish basement storyline over something more serious and realistic. Realistic isn't something the series is trying to be outside of kidnap victims dealing with trauma and the police not caring about certain people who go missing. I actually was waiting for them to show victims who don't make it because there's no such thing as every missing person being found alive or being found at all. It's not healthy to sit at a bus station everyday for 13 years and I'm glad there was some movement with that. Her grieve made her neglect her other children. Agent Ward needs to put himself first because Gabbi isn't ready for all of that.

The cast equated it to dying by slow gas leak; they knew it was coming, they just didn't know when.  The old TNT leadership was very supportive of the show -- of course; the show was their idea, and it was a big hit for them -- but as soon as the new guy came in, he made it clear by his lack of engagement he didn't care about it.

He stopped sending them to the upfronts (which is where networks promote their new and returning shows to the media ahead of each new season), stopped submitting them for award nominations, etc.  Then over the next couple of seasons he commenced actively shuffling the show around, new nights and times, and each time the ratings either stayed the same or increased, but he still didn't care -- he wanted to make his name (which, good going, dude, as I've already forgotten it as I haven't watched anything on the network since) with "edgy" content.

They weren't sure if they were going to get renewed after season five, as he had some new shows on the air or in the pipeline and seemed like he might be getting ready to pull the trigger, so the season five finale (the two-part "Shockwave") had two versions, one that would be a series finale if they knew for sure they weren't coming back and one meant to be a season finale but that wouldn't leave big things hanging as a series finale if it came to that.  They found out they were renewed (but just with a 13-episode order; the back nine wasn't included, but it also wasn't explicitly stated it wouldn't happen [that's not uncommon]) just in time for shooting, so we got the season finale version of "Shockwave".  (Which, in my re-watches, sometimes stands as the series finale -- since Sharon is, you know, ALIVE -- as I have to be in the right mood to watch season six [and I've only re-watched the final four episodes once, and don't intend to ever again, as I don't give a fucking shit about Rusty Beck vs. Phillip Stroh]).

The viewership was still great (the networks top-rated drama), and the producers/writers would have happily continued, as would the cast -- it wasn't the most creatively fulfilling work they'd ever done, no, but they absolutely adored each other and truly enjoyed working together (plus, steady paychecks and qualifying for full benefits each year is nothing to sneeze at) -- so cancellation was due solely to the new guy's vision for the network.  Under the old leadership it would have kept going.

That's terrible. The universe still had life in it. The series finale was pretty mediocre. I still don't know who that Tammy woman was supposed to be?

I found Rusty more annoying in the later seasons, but I'm with you in loving his relationship with Sharon throughout.  I appreciate the times he straight-up acknowledges she completely changed his life, and quite possibly saved it, that without her, he might have wound up like "Alice" or any of the other homeless kids who die in the streets.  And that she always tells him he needs to give himself credit, too.  It was a beautiful relationship, as you said, and refreshing in being different from most relationships seen on TV -- we're certainly not inundated with tales of foster parents and their wards.

It wasn't because of the limited number of episodes (season one only had ten, and they were all stand-alones), it was because the new head of TNT - who hated the show, despite it remaining his network's number-one drama no matter how many times he changed the timeslot, because it wasn't the "edgy" fare* he wanted to be known for - made it a requirement.

I didn't know that. I hate when that happens. The Closer/Major Crimes universe could have went on like NCIS, CSI and Law & Order.

  11. I just finished the entire series for the first time ever. I would have been down with a third spin off with the two new detectives being transferred to another city. I actually cried when Sharon died. If I watched live, I would have shipped Andy & Sharon before the writers did because my brain works that way when it comes to shipping. I just know. They dragged out PS too long. When this happens, the villains become comic book supervillains. I hate that. Rusty annoyed me in the early seasons, but I understand why he was the way he was. His relationship with Sharon was beautiful. Because of their relationship. You get more choked up compared to  "The Closer." She saved that boy's life and showed him unconditional love. The type of love a mother should have for a child. I understand because S6 only had 13 episodes,  they couldn't do any stand alone episodes. I also love the relationship between Flynn & Provenza.

This times 1,000!! There is no story, just weird creepy people and little snippets of “scary”.  When literally no one acts like a normal person it just reads as stupid. Everyone she deals with is “off”, it’s just bad writing.

And her coughing up a raccoon claw (or whatever), the writers do know the uterus isn’t connected to the stomach, right? Ugh.

There must be something in the damn water? lol Why is the whole damn city weird?  This Devil cult or whatever is during all of this weird shit, but nobody notices?! Anna has no family (other than her husband) or real friends?

I found Kim K. to be almost unbearable. I don't believe her as the main character's "best friend" and her forced use of the "f" word just made her seem more lackluster.  Her acting makes wood seem lively and brought Emma Roberts' acting down (although I don't think she's a terrific actress either). Again, IMO.

I hope this isn't a Cult retread where the primary character is being gaslighted (gaslit?) by everyone and is stumbling around completely clueless.

They haven't learned anything since Paris Hilton. Stop putting these people in Hollywood productions!  I actually stopped watching this show after Roanoke. Returned for 1984, then left again,  then returned for this season.

I hope you like it. It's a really great show. The main cast is great and so are Martha and Alexis.

I've been enjoying it. I'm at the end of S2. I love Martha already.

  15. I recently started recording the series for the very first time. I missed the first five episodes of S1. So far I've seen all of S2, S3, S5 & S6. S7 is currently recording and S4 Episodes 2-11 is on the DVR. My stepdad use to watch it, but I never did. I've never been a huge fan of cop shows. I've been enjoying TC.

I think the show makes it obvious that the idealized fifties is just that, you constantly circle back to reality in the show.

This series is not smart. It is the dumbest kid in the class with some serious issues thrown in that needs professional treatment.

This is a comic book story and Aguirre-Sarcaso is not only the showrunner for this television show, but is a television and comics writer and Chief Creative Officer for Archie Comics. I don't think they are claiming it is the biggest issue, but they are certainly justified in dealing with it as an issue. I think, at least in this season, Jughead is Aguirre-Sarcaso's avatar, too.

It is possible that Betty will end up writing books, possibly for teens, going forward, highlighting some of the things that couldn't happen in real life. We may even hear about what actually happened to Josie and Polly and many of the other characters that she is giving such positive endings.

Riverdale has long been a town that expands to fit the needs. In fairness, there are a lot of movies and television shows set in New York or LA, and a lot of things happen outside of New York and LA.

I know this series is based on a comic book and I already know about AS. That still doesn't change the fact that this is one of the worst written shows of all time and will go down as such. It's a pradody of the '50s.  The series itself, it is like one of the worst comic books of all time. 😂 There are kids out there who will think the '50s were really like this show. I would hope they read and not just watch Riverfail.  I was gone for so long that I'm not very invested in the series as a whole.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comics_Code_Authority

The Comics Code Authority (CCA) was formed in 1954 by the Comics Magazine Association of America as an alternative to government regulation. The CCA enabled comic publishers to self-regulate the content of comic books in the United States. The code was voluntary, as there was no law requiring its use, although some advertisers and retailers looked to it for reassurance. Some publishers, including Dell, Western, and Classics Illustrated, never used it. Its code, commonly called "the Comics Code", lasted until the early 21st century. The CC formation followed a moral panic centered around a series of Senate hearings and the publication of psychiatrist Fredric Wertham's book Seduction of the Innocent.

Members submitted comics to the CCA, which screened them for adherence to its code, then authorized the use of their seal on the cover if the book was found to be in compliance. At the height of its influence, it was a de facto censor for the entire U.S. comic book industry.

You cannot pretend comic book censorship was the biggest issue in the '50s. It was just one of many. Nothing these characters are doing, especially in this nowhere town would actually fly in the 1950s! Josie's movie plot was laughable. White female stars couldn't even do that. Their lives were controlled by the studio system. Women were not allowed to make their own movies. We're supposed to pretend a big film premiere for her movie would be possible?  Not only that,  she would get rave reviews and the film would be some huge blockbuster?  Betty could release some kind of teenage "Sex and the City" book?  Queer people,  especially teenagers could just be themselves?  I don't even remember any book or documentary talking about an underground lesbian magazine or magazines talking about masturbation? What company distributed this magazine?  The list goes on. Oh, and the code wasn't created or ruled by some hickville people.

  19. I guess this season is ship musical chairs. At this point, if Ethel and Jughead don't kiss, it's because she's not thin. Grundy is back?  Pass the bleach for the eyes, please. Bad enough I thought Veronica and the FBI agent were going to make out. Jughead still isn't hanging out with Archie and has his arc still doesn't involve other main characters.  And there's no narrative like period. TBTB making fun of their own terrible writing is still terrible.

That Sargent loves Cullen so much it's great. Praising him to the rest of the precinct, inviting him to drinks after work, and freely providing information. I kind of hope he never realizes Cullen is Cullen and just think's he has a new friend.

Which proves once again that the GCPD is a tiny car with a bunch of clowns it it. Some kid off the street can pretend to be cop with no problems. 🤣 So much for all of us believing the trope was Batman's son and the Joker's daughter hooking up.

  21. The episode did feature something that was totally accurate back then. Black people were treated better in Europe than in the USA. It's why many black celebrities traveled to Europe a lot and some even moved there. They were able to live stress free lives over there. Jughead and Archie are supposed to be best friends.  Yet, they don't even share scenes together. It's like Jughead is on a totally different show.  His storyline doesn't involve any of the other main characters. That's not how it went down in the comics. Archie and Jughead are friends!  I like Reggie and Archie as friends, but they are not consistent. You are friends or you are not friends.  I rolled by eyes at the cat and milk thing, but it's a well known fictional trope. Like mice and cheese. Rabbits and carrots.
