    (From episode thread):

Apparently Elsbeth gets slightly better ratings. But I absolutely refuse to ever watch that show. Not only am I bitter that it's been renewed over Todd (they seem live very similar shows), but the incessant and intrusive promo spots for it have made me hate it without ever seeing it. They pop up at the bottom of the screen during every single CBS show I watch. It's like the only thing CBS is plugging.

I have never seen anything TGW related, but I decided to check out "Elsbeth." It has a lot of stunt casting and I can see that wearing thin as the series goes on. Most focus is on, "What big star is going to appear next?!" than the actual plots of the episodes. CBS confirmed it was never moving to Paramount+ and I don't see another streaming network (especially after the strikes) picking it up. Miracles do happen now and then.

I hope this show gets picked up à la Girls5Eva, which was cancelled by Peacock, but picked up by Netflix. This show came to my attention after I started watching Elsbeth, and I ended up liking So Help Me Todd slightly better.

I agree that in some ways the show is a slightly odd fit for procedural-heavy CBS. BUT, the characters do solve a mystery every week, so...

Surprised the network wouldn't put this on Paramount+. That's how I caught up with the show, so it seems like a good fit for streaming.

The thing with rare pickups after cancellation. The ball has to start rolling right away behind the scenes. Remember contracts expire, sets get destroyed and props get sold off. Pay also changes. If it were moving to streaming. That's something that would be happening right now, not 6 months from now.  Everything has be ironed out before the deal is sealed. Remember the cancelled "Silence of the Lambs" prequel "Clarice" also on CBS was going to move to Paramount+ but that was also cancelled because ViacomCBS & MGM couldn't come to an agreement. I was glad it was moving because it could be more R rated like the source material.

Because then lower ratings would be more acceptable and CBS would be more willing or likely to renew it?

Friday night shows needs be very successful for a Friday show. S.W.A.T keeps coming back from the dead. I don't even think it's a CBS show. I think it's a Sony production. SHMT was in house, but still didn't have the ratings to survive another season. Blue Bloods is finally coming to an end after however many seasons.

I loved the show, but it was a strange fit for CBS. It would be a perfect fit for the CW. I'm hoping another network/streamer picks it up, because it has happened to other series, so it is possible.

I apologize for this comment in advance. I do not think there is a to communicate the following thought without sounding like a total jerk, and I really honestly tried, so again, apologies for how this is going to sound.

If people are not watching a network show at least three-seven days after it airs, then it probably will get canceled. The networks look to see how many people are watching the day the day it airs, or at least three days after. Seven days is pushing it. If the network sees that a show is not getting stellar ratings (unless it is in a time slot that is traditionally known to get low/lower than normal ratings like Friday at 10 PM), the network executives will start to think about if there is something else they could air in that time slot that will get better ratings.

I understand,  but I swear it happens every time. Meanwhile,  many shows I gave up on seems to always get renewed. I actually wish it was a Friday night show.

I think it is such a great show that it never crossed my mind that it would get cancelled.

I thought this season was improving with every episode and am very saddened that it's been cancelled.

I know this is mathematically impossible, but I always feel guilty when one of favorite shows gets cancelled. It's like every time I remove a series from the DVR and decide to just binge watch later on. It gets cancelled. Lol

Is there any chance it could be picked up by another network or streamer?

Deadline said there's no plans to move it it to Paramount+ which would have been something CBS decided before announcing cancellation. I really liked this show. I even shipped Todd & Susan.

Sigh….another potentially good crime procedural turned into yet another soap opera. The show should be good enough without all the personal backstory garbage. Just think of the original Law and Order ( the mothership ). We had oblique references to wives and husbands but it never got in the way of the story. I think writers today are just lazy…throw in emotional baggage when you can’t write a decent story otherwise. These actors deserve better. This week’s episode was flat out embarassing.

Didn't the original L&O have a bloated main cast from the beginning?  It also wasn't based on a book series. I never watched any L&O or regular cop shows in general. I say "Regular" because  I'm excluding stuff like "The X-Files" and "The Profiler." As I'm getting older, I'm turning into my parents. 😄 This is the first time I've watched new and old cop shows.  I'm also not the biggest fan of Ormewood, but even his character needed meat on the bones. It doesn't necessarily have to be him and Gina, but it has to be something. And right now it's about how he neglected his family,  which is realistic when it comes to the job. Younger Amanda would have needed the emergency room. That bastard was huge. What Amanda did wasn't right, but I understand. It's strange that the Captain didn't make sure the rapist got what was coming to him after what he did to his daughter. The police will overlook other victims,  but would turn everything upset down when it involves their families. He would have never seen the streets again.

  8. Of course, Cricket would be awesome, and Will cannot have her. Will, you can do everything right and life just gives you shit. I know the books are dark, but I cannot watch an awesome character become the lead in his trauma porn every season. No one could stay sane. You would definitely have a breakdown and fall into that dark hole. Good season premiere.

That would mean Alice pairs up with an (unknown yet) Goodwin in the future? Who are Casey’s parents, where are they?

Yeah,  the "Goodwin" throwing me too. How does she end up with Kat's old ring?  Unless they were adopted or using a fake name?  Ugh. This is what I hate about this genre. It drives you nuts. 😂😂😂

This was great. The storyline finally got going somewhere and now we have to wait until 2025! I loved that Elliot got to time travel and I thinengagementColton totally knew who he was. And Jacob came back! I was worried they wouldn’t have any story left but the Colton surprise has me intrigued. He’s also proof that the pond can take you forward.

I didn’t quite get what was with Alice and the necklace. Who does she think Casey is? Could she be Alice’s child from the future?

I’m not surprised but slightly disappointed that Thomas is alive. While Chyler has more chemistry with both Thomas and Susanna in some ways I still find myself rooting for Elliot. She’s never going to pick him though. It’s embarrassing for him at this point.

Casey has to be someone's child. Jacob? Elliot and Kat? Alice?  Del & Colton? Thomas & Alice? I swear time traveling always gets complicated. But we do know they have Kat's former wedding or engagement ring that she gave to Alice. That boy (his name escapes me) is cute and he Alice need to hook up for real. 💘💋

  11. The wife went to the hospital using a false identity, then the brother dies the next day. That means she killed the bother and the other brother set it in  motion. Yeah, that definitely didn't make sense, but it was a fun episode.

I can't believe Kat left Jacob in 1814 after finally finding him. I know she was hurt, but she didn't even ask him to come back with her? I guess that was a plot device.

So did Alice change things, or did Kat forget she saw Alice at the party that night? Maybe cause she hit her head, but it seems like she remembers the other stuff.

Maybe I am old, but I feel like Kat and Elliot and everyone were too old in 2007 for throwing a party like that in someone else's house. Also, I feel super old, because they pointed out Facebook has been around loit'sice.

I really hope we get to see Kat and Elliot try and explain to Nick the deal with the time traveling pond.

Yes, that was weird. When Kate or Elliott (said first?) that it's been 8 years. I said they're young adults in their 20s now. Why are they still acting like high school freshmen?  That party didn't scream adult party. Kat & Elliott were still acting like puppy love teenagers. Brady was still attending law school at this point.  The writer's need to make up their minds. Alice cannot keep going back and forth to  "Del" and  "Grandma." It must be one or the other.

I had to retrain myself to one space after a period. Both APA and MLA require it now.

Like others I wasn't familiar with the Elsbeth character but I do like Columbo so I will give it a shot. Both Stephen Moyer and Carrie Preston seemed to be enjoying themselves and that was fun to watch.

If he wasn't a murderer, I would totally ship it. They were charming and hilarious together. 😂
