  1. Thanks just saw that thread. Streetwise makes sense with the Charles Manson type angle. Conned was a good episode. It had the plot twists this episode sorely needed. I actually consider the finale from s14 the end of the show. These episodes are just the nervous twitches of a dead animal. There are still some good episodes but they are few and far between. It feels like every week I am just disappointed and grasping at smaller and smaller parts of the old SVU to still give me a reason to tune in. I love Law and Order and I thought SVU was the most entertaining of the franchise and I enjoy talking to people about this show but it is just not the same. The soap box part you mention and the horrible acting have just put it in it's grave. I see a lot of people are on here supporting this episode and I cannot understand it at all but I can respect that others still enjoy this show. I still love SVU but I am pretty embarrassed to show new episodes to people who don't watch it that often. This episode I will not be re-watching and I think I would actually turn the channel if this came on again when with other episodes I usually change to SVU if I can.
  2. I think there is a season 9 episode where Casey Novak mentions and reveals the plot of episode 400. I think it is just SVU copying SVU which it has done before. She talks about about a husband walking in on a wife and her lover. The wife calls rape, husband kills the lover and the wife is than convicted of murder. I do not see the resemblance except extremely loosely to the Pam Buchbinder case in Miami. In that case Buchbinder wanted her cousin to murder someone so she could collect some money. The mother in this episode did not want Trey dead at all just didn't see a way to explain to her son and panicked and yelled rape. Anyone know the episode title from season 9 that I am talking about?
  3. We need a spin-off focusing on what happens after Barba retires. The Law offices of Barba and Buchanan, Buchanan Barba attorneys at law both sound pretty good to me.
  4. I think we are called Oompa Loompas and the other side are called snowflakes but his twitter overreactions would be hilarious as would be his comeback directed towards Mariska. Trump is nothing if not hilarious when he wants to be. Still get cracked up with what he said about Rosie O'Donnell
  5. The Trump episode would be good if it was made 5 years ago. They have a lot of CEO rapes a woman episodes already that could be Trump. I hope they air it as well cause I think it would all focus on tape he made bragging to a friend 12 years ago. Would be another parody type episode like the one they made about GamerGate or the chat room raping Yachtsmen. I love the episodes where SVU tries to cover a subject that is popular at the time. The writers are usually so uninformed and so much older than the people they are trying to speak to that it usually just comes across like a parody cue the Police Squad music. I hope they would let Speed Weed produce the Trump character assassination episode. ( I know its already made) "What did they do to you?" "They leveled up." Rollins and Victim "Damn campers"-Ice T once considered a gangster. You just cant make dialect like this up.
  6. Stumbled onto this show recently and cant stop watching it. It has quickly climbed to one of my favorite shows. I recommend it to anyone that has a gangster interest. This show is like a better version of Boardwalk Empire and I love the fact that I hear 5 seasons are guaranteed unless the sun goes Nova or the mole people invade. Not enough people are exposed to this show and that is a shame. I like the short season formula as it allows for easy viewing for those of us that are busy and not able to watch 25 episode seasons. This does not mean I do not want more episodes I just like the way each chapter (season) concludes itself instead of stretching on forever.
  7. Thank you. I was like who is she supposed to be looking like during the trial and I could not place it. Yes exactly right Gone Girl. I was hoping that a twist would happen and that the mother would turn out to be a victim and the cops would be exposed to their own prejudices but yeah mom was an evil lady just wasn't exciting because it was obvious early on and nothing changed during the episode to make you question it.
  8. Found the acting really sub par. The son's acting was the worst even worse than Mariska's. Nothing special at all for the 400th episode The lack of any real twists also subtracted from my viewing experience. I expected something to happen but it all played out exactly as it said it was going to. Loved the defense lawyer because I love The Wire but Buchanan should have objected to almost everything Barba said as it was mostly Barba talking and yelling at the defendant rather than asking anything. Still that part was fun to watch. As soon as the episode starts you will know how it will end. Nothing unexpected happens at all. Well Benson walking back into court with the kid witness was kinda unexpected. She is dressed in a white jacket and has like a white glow around her from the back lighting making her look angelic as she whisks the son in to save the day. Naming the black shooting victim Trey made me roll my eyes seemed like a cheap way to guarantee sympathy. Not as super liberal as some episodes and Carisi sounded so much like Al Pacino while interviewing Luke at the beginning that I was entertained but quality of show continues its downward spiral.
  9. One of the things I enjoyed about this show was it challenged your prejudices by watching because you would feel sympathy to certain people who were later shown to be monsters. You could tell a lot about someone you were watching an episode with because they would object to certain things feel, for certain characters, and just have a completely different viewing experience than what you might have experienced because of how they view life. It is amazing the difference in subject matter and how the characters talk from season 1 till now. I was surprised watching Law and Order original first season because the detectives talked like people with their own views rather than people who are afraid of a lawsuit.
  10. I have no problem with women dating younger men. This was not my thought nor intent when I posted and I apologize for the confusion. I only date older (7-15 years) women so I would never have a date if I felt this way. I strongly encourage women to date whoever they want kudos if they are younger since this widens my available playing field :) Dating younger people though is seen as a sign of one's beauty though since that would mean you are still as attractive as people who haven't gone through aging or life events one experiences as one gets older and that was my point. Sometimes peoples sleep with former bosses so I did not have much problem with Murphy Rollins besides the Ewww factor. The movie Big Daddy has a great quote that addresses this eww factor. I slept with a boss that was about 25 years older (I was 23 she wasn't a grandma people) just happened after a stressful day working in a restaurant during a wedding party there. Didn't think anything about it till I saw a picture of someone I graduated with on her fridge afterwards and I realized she was his mom. I wasn't fond of Murphy Rollins and felt this was part of the decline of SVU which I trace back to S 15... Same time as Mariska becoming a producer and changing this show. I just didn't hate it as much as some did. I felt like Rollins may have just been a fan of the show Grounded for Life so she put out. I have felt that Benson has been used as a sex object throughout the show but that it has been emphasized since Mariska has become executive producer. As for the age thing that I listed maybe I was incorrect as I posted after being disappointed in another Benson only episode. My favorite episode is S12E3 "Behave" which is another Benson only episode but Jennifer Love Hewitt carries that episode so while I don't like the show's focus since she became producer I can still respect strong Benson performances. If it looks like I am not using very many specific examples it is because I have none at the moment but based on the strength of your post I felt obliged to reply. Thank you for posting the birth years of the actors and actresses. I thought DW was much younger because of the immaturity of his character and maybe something to do with DW himself since I have only seen him in goofy roles or less mature roles. Only actually seen him as the Mayhem guy and in Law and Order: SVU. I can tell you do not mind the direction the show has gone down in recent seasons so our personal feelings on this are quite different. I would probably remove the younger guys part of my rant now that I have read yours and I stand corrected.
  11. Yeah Benson has become Captain Kirk. She is always sleeping with younger men (except Turk) Always shown as very beautiful and something of a sex object despite this show being about sexual crimes. This has bothered me and seemed very inappropriate considering the shows subject matter. Like Captain Kirk she is always capable of kicking ass and the show solely revolves around her. You know my feelings on how the show has become from our talks on the "other site.'
  12. I am rewatching show now and so all of mine are from early seasons. I too felt for Robin Williams before the crazy ending. You forget while watching that he had multiple teenage girls set up to be basically raped because he wanted someone to question orders. During the trial scene it kinda loses its focus on his having these girls attacked and you forget about it with everything going on with his dead wife and unborn child. I guess I feel bad for what drove him there but his actions are just evil. Like Bastet posted I also felt bad for the "maybe" handicapped perp from season 1 "third guy" who raped the old woman. It is left open if he knew what he had done was wrong. It was absolutely disgusting and an appalling crime but did he have any knowledge of that and was he responsible for his actions? The ending of him in that mental hospital surrounded by people much less "there" than him and him saying no no over and over again much like his victim no doubt said to him was chilling. This one has stuck with me because of the horrible fate of everyone but one 17 year old who broke into and tied up the old woman and than was released and received no consequence. They even mention he was responsible for her having a heart attack that set her up for the second heart attack she received while being raped that killed her. He got off scot free while everyone else suffered horrible fates. The kid in the season 2 episode who shoots his classmate accidently and is than murdered because of his race at the end. He did nothing wrong. I felt for Russel? in the hotel episode of season 2. Deliberatly placed in a situation by the SVU squad to be raped and murdered. SVU squad even says they hope he is never able to sit again when he is released. He had sex with girlfriend who was 15 and then had sex with a woman who set him up to look like a rape. He did nothing and was raped and murdered in prison. There was another season one episode where a religious college ran by a father and son both sharing the same name where the father was sleeping with and impregnated his son's wife was also one where the perp was sympathetic but did not justify him murdering his wife like that. In an above post Harper Anderson is named as Tess Harper. This is not her character's name. In Season 2. Closure part 2, Harper Anderson kinda is becoming the perp at the end of the episode and she is very sympathetic. She kills the serial rapist who raped her but had never been found guilty. The wife of said rapist tells police she killed her husband in self defense but Harper is shown to be stalking him and to be an excellent shot. The picture perfect grouping of gunshot wounds on the rapist plus the smile on Harper at the end makes it pretty clear who killed him. However, the gunshot wounds are not those inflicted by a Desert Eagle .50. Not even close. I guess they didn't want to show the level of gore necessary from a person taking multiple shots from that... hand cannon. (which I am the proud owner of.)
  13. Ditto on the feelings of this episode's mediocrity. This whole season seems to have fallen short of what has come before. There are just too many obvious political references and jabs. This show has always been liberal leaning and this was mostly shown in earlier seasons through comments that Munch would make off and on through out the episodes and this was always acceptable because it was grounded. Since Mariska has become producer so much has changed and this is reflected in the episode quality. My girlfriend honestly thought I was watching off a Law and Order: Olivia Benson spinoff when she walked into the room mid episode. My girlfriend is not a regular viewer but has watched the first 10 seasons in their entirety so for her to have this confusion is unacceptable and rest solely on the writers and producers. Maybe there should be a Law and Order spin off focusing just on her if this is appealing to some of the fan base however I would like SVU focusing on the crimes and victims like the show did so well for so many years. This episode added nothing to my viewing pleasure and my interest in SVU. It actually detracted from my interest in this show which takes a lot. Give us SVU back.
  14. My most frustrating (besides Stabler leaving) was when Season 1 episode Closure faded to the notorious black Dick Wolf screen with the rapist going free and unpunished. When I saw this episode and did not know there was a part 2 and the rapist seems to get away with everything had me yelling at the TV. This drove me nuts for quite a while.
