  1. One would think the elder Browns (or at least one of them) would have stressed that getting pregnant while in school is one of the worst decisions a couple can make. Or that M & C would have realized that themselves via the Internet, observing other people irl, logic & reasoning, their own bad memories, etc. I don't know what their beliefs are regarding birth control but it's entirely possible (and easy imo and experience) to avoid pregnancy using natural methods. They could have easily postponed having a baby for a couple of years. If the Brown children are wise enough to see that plural marriage isn't for them, why aren't they smart enough to see that having babies so young isn't the best idea? The only answers I can come up with is #babysteps and #progressisslow.
  2. Does anyone else remember them all talking about how getting married wasn't to get in the way of Maddie's education? What ever happened to that? Did she ever graduate? She got pregnant almost immediately after getting married after saying she was going to finish her education and it's weird that that's never been addressed during the show because it was sooo important way back when but all that went right out the window once she got married. I suspect the same will happen with Mykelti.
  3. She kept saying she had to make a "CHOICE" regarding if she was going to be a good or bad sister wife and she kept repeating the word "CHOICE" and I kept wondering why it is ongoing decision to be good all the time. It shouldn't be that difficult to chose being good over bad all the time, every day.
  4. Armchair, you'll know to stop watching it when you start to see scenes from last week. I lasted about an hour or so.
  5. Ever been to a 12-step meeting? One of the first buzzwords you'll hear is "enabling". Now that I'm aware of it, I notice bubbles/pockets of people who all enable each other in their addictive behavior whether it's food, their substance of choice, or their spiritual beliefs. Having the wives eat donuts off of string was a mind-blowing WTF moment for me. Did you notice Janelle "couldn't" bite hers while all the other wives had no problem. How humiliating it must have been for her (and all of them really) to have to participate in such a spectacle. Or maybe it's just me.... Seems cruel to ask women who are clearly struggling with weight and food issues to do such a thing. In other words: Thank you AZCHRISTIAN. (I am also in AZ :) I tried to watch this weeks episode but they were showing too many scenes from last week's show! It's mindnumbing and starts to feel like some sort of torture to keep seeing the same clip over and over. Don't they know we JUST saw last week's show a week ago? Plus, they play the same scene so many times that by the time the actual scene comes on, we've already seen it many, many times starting with the first time we saw the "coming up next week scene" from the week before. Seriously, how many times have we already seen the scene where Mariah tells her big news? Oh and that reminds me.... It seems pretty evident that the news is going to be that she's...not straight. If it's not, then it's click bait imo. Either way, I'll be watching!
  6. I literally LOL'd and OMG'd through most of this episode including that quote! I think I may have clapped a few times too while I was laughing. It was predictably hilarious! I found this site shortly after even though I've been watching since the very beginning. (So happy to have found you guys btw! XOX) There were so many great comedic moments both intentional and unintentional in this ep. I try not to judge when someone is doing or saying something outrageous (like Janelle's speech imo), because in my mind, we all do stuff other people might think is outrageous to some degree from time to time (i.e. nobody's perfect). The Browns seem so sincerely unaware that they're doing anything anyone would construe as odd, snarky, or "bizarro" ;) and they're in a closed feedback loop so they're likely to never know because everyone is either just like them or enables their behavior for some reason or another. It's fascinating to observe! Caught that too! You're right. I see now that the one in the tent is Aspyn but I don't think the one in the rainbow picture is a sister. I'm not 100% sure though.
  7. http://www.advocate.com/politics/marriage-equality/2015/06/27/show-your-pride-rainbow-filter-your-facebook-profile-pic I checked out Mariah's Twitter and Facebook and there is no doubt she is a lesbian and not trying to hide it. Her Instagram is private though. If you go to her fb page https://www.facebook.com/mariah.brown.967 and scroll down, you will see these words under a picture of her with a rainbow flag in the lower left "Update your profile picture with this frame from GLAAD." And if you click GLAAD, https://www.facebook.com/GLAAD/?pnref=story. Also, you'll notice she's hugging the same girl in a lot of the pictures including the one with the rainbow filter. I think her big surprise is her coming out--only because she's been so blatant about it on social media! https://twitter.com/mariahlian?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author Tagline: ask me about my radical feminist agenda Private Instagram public bio: Mariah Brown I like my coffee black & my feminism intersectional
  8. I wish someone would count the number of times Kody said the word "I" compared to how many he said "Maddie" in the "Maddie Gets Married" episode. The ratio's gotta be something like 100:1.
  9. Exactly! So her citing that T makes her feel safe over and over again causes me to wonder why she didn't feel safe/taken care of before. Also, he's 22 and seemingly not in good physical health. How well is he going to be able to take care of her--especially in the long run? Plus they keep going on and on about being "best friends" (so do Caleb and Mattie) and you'd think that with a family that big, finding a best friend wouldn't be so big an issue that they keep citing it as a "reason" to marry.
  10. They couldn't wait because that would have required an additional year of abstinence which they obviously weren't able to handle. 1 Corinthians 7 pretty much spells out at least one of the many probable reasons they were pushing for a fast wedding What troubles me most is how many times Mykelti said Tony made her feel "safe". And she used that word "safe" over and over again. Of course we can only guess what she needs protection from.
