  1. Sorry if this has already been mentioned. but in an interview on my local news station at the start of the season Rachel said it wasn't an instant connection and that things had to progress to get to where they are now at. Or something along those lines. This was in response to a question about her final pick. So that leaves me a little puzzled if Bryan is the guy.

  2. Same. And more of the telling us to stop focusing so much on Jack's death and how he died. And then it was back to listing all of the reasons why this really is just the greatest show to ever grace a television screen. It is changing the world....one tissue at a time.

  3. Scandal for me was at its best in Season 2....years ago. But it has still always been my "thing" on Thursday night. So much so that I associate Thursday with Scandal.  And considering this is its final season, there's no question it will be my priority.

Ugh....I just think NBC has always overestimated TIU, and this is a clear example.

  4. The show had no competition this season. Obviously NBC believes in it strongly enough to put it in this timeslot. It's going to go up against Scandal in its final season. My opinions on the ratings this first season are unpopular, much like my opinions on the show. There were clearly a lot of people tuning in at certain times to see if something major happened...and it didn't.

Another example of a really great show that no one is watching.  The actors and the writing are heads and tails above most programming today.

These are some talented actors. Watching them play such different roles season after season, with conviction, is a treat.

Now Gabrielle's story - that's what's pulling me hard.  Will she be deported?  Will she ever get anyone to believe her stories of abuse in the Coates' home?  So much to resolve in only one hour next week.  Save Gabrielle indeed!!!!

I need this story to keep going. And the acting is great.

  7. It was difficult to watch that death scene. I actually yelled out when they took the knife out. I was pissed.

    It really got to me.

I actually wasn't sure at first if she had been stabbed or if she was just in shock/pain from a hard hit.

  8. I thought he looked uncomfortable and like he couldn't wait for it to be over. Could almost see him counting.

I think what it is about the shirt coming off is that it is only seen as a problem if the show or whatever is not popular enough or seen by enough people, because then he isn't getting famous and becoming a superstar. If soaps were getting millions of viewers and magazine covers, talk show invitations, etc. he never would have said anything about it. If he has to do it on TIU it will be "brilliant"...."art." It was never really about quality like he claimed. He just wanted to diss the other shows and was upset he wasn't an A-list celeb. So this is pretty hypocritical.

    Hard to take him seriously.

  9. Mr. I don't want to take my shirt off and just want to be known as a serious actor.......surely this will help in that dept.

Once again cast in something that should go to someone else for the simple fact that he has zero sex appeal.

But TIU is all hypey so I guess he must be cast!

    A joke.

  10. I think they would. It happens all the time. Sometimes for if they think an actor is "pretty" and want to fulfill that need (whether they want to admit to that or not) and sometimes to provide comic relief. This show is categorized as a "dramedy" and Kevin has been used to throw out what I guess are supposed to be funny lines most of the time.

I wouldn't get rid of the Kevin. The three siblings are a key component of the show. I just think that it is unfortunate that they cast such a poor actor as Justin Hartley in the role of Kevin. There are a lot far more talented good looking actors in Hollywood. However, it is too late and the show is stuck with him. The good news is that Dan Fogelman clearly figured out quickly where the talent on cast lies, the dramatic writing focuses around Randall, Beth, Rebecca, Jack, and to slightly lesser degree Kate, and Toby.

IMO that is why they let Kevin have the painting monologue, because most likely Kevin will not be given much dramatic material to play because they know he, for lack of a better word, sucks at it. Smart choice. I completely agree with you about there being far more talented and good looking (I don't even think there's anything at all special about Justin's looks) actors in Hollywood. It has driven me crazy that for years this guy keeps getting roles that others could actually do a good job with. I think his agent works overtime.

But the irony of the writers feeling this way when it comes to Kevin....

Personally, I don't think everything has to be a big long arc.  I think you can have characters like that for just one episode.  And, sometimes it makes it more like real life.

I don't think they have ANY long arcs. There are no stories, actually. Stuff just kinda happens and then on to the next.

  13. Ugh why did I just read this article!?!?

Some of what I just read....

Milo Ventimiglia said that fans shouldn’t be surprised that the show ended with a shocking twist and without finding out what happened to Jack. He told the outlet that fans should “come to expect” surprises in the show and that things aren’t always as they seem.

Cast matriarch Mandy Moore agreed and admitted that she wasn’t sure why fans were so obsessed with what really happened to Jack.

“I’m really proud of the work we did and proud of the episode, and anytime anybody asked me, I said, you’re not going to find out how Jack dies. I don’t know why people are so fixated on that!”

Someone needs to remind them that the TIU twitter account started this nonsense with that dumb #whereisjack hashtag.

Someone also needs to remind them that Kate is written to be all secretive about her father's death, a funeral flashback scene was shown with no explanations, Kate still watches football with his urn, etc. etc.

GEE WHY ARE THE FANS SO FIXATED ON THAT?

      Reveal hidden contents

the real title should have been "Why it is a good idea for me to date your Aunt Robin"

Also, eff the showrunner for blaming the audience for being interested in Jack's death, not life.  They are the ones teasing out everything in hopes that it will keep us tuning in to the program.

Straight from Dan Fogelman's mouth was that he didn't want to reveal the circumstances surrounding his death that soon because he wanted to have something to keep audiences waiting, coming back. So this is total and complete BS. A criticism was directed at his perfect werfect wittle show and so he decides to blame the audience and act as though they just don't know good writing.

  15. Sometimes even if you don't follow them, you will see it because others you do follow retweet the stuff or like it and you see it in your timeline. All I have to do is open Microsoft Edge or Yahoo and I see the dumb headlines.

  16. I'm commenting on something from the Moonshadow episode thread, where "Winston" comments on Milo...

He has struck me as someone taking themselves too seriously, and there was one interview I read recently where he rudely (imo) responded to a simple question about the fate of his character in Gilmore Girls or whatever. He said he didn't have time to think about something like that and suggested it was stupid or something. Get over yourself, dude. He could have responded in so many other ways instead of insulting fans of that show.

Also, I read somewhere at some point that he had trouble getting parts because he came off as young. As a result, I think that his whole "look" has a lot to do with trying to appear older.

Out of the cast, I don't care for him and Justin. Both who take themselves too seriously. No wonder Justin is just sooo in love with Milo.
