So I’ve been wondering: at what point in the chronology of VK’s future glories (ROTY, 1GL, diamond/triangle/Point, VOTY, etc…) should we expect CMT to re-shoot the opening of the show to feature VK parading/performing in front of all the other DCC? 😂

TCC 2020 candidates - pay attention to the news...there could be personnel changes over the summer...don't want to drop the wrong name during an interview question...
what's next on the DCC calendar ?

I agree Christina’s dancing has improved this season, especially since her sit-down/come-to-Jesus meetings with Kelli. My problem with her is I think she always looks tired (facially) and how shall I say this.... a bit past her prime. I know that sounds unkind, but to me she is the very opposite of fresh-faced or vibrant. (I would say the same about Lily.)

Victoria’s cause is because of herself which when I read it came across as selfish. Her explanation of why she chose her cause struck me more like self-absorption … which she has already more than demonstrated as one of her personality traits in general!
I put the blame for this completely tone-deaf response squarely on the shoulders of the brilliant DCC power(s) that be who approved each cheerleader’s selection of/narrative on why they chose their respective causes. I think the cause is a good one- but entirely inappropriate for anyone associated with the DCC (not just VK) to comment on. VK is young and immature- and while that is not an acceptable excuse for her poor behavior in some of the situations she has been in- in this case I can imagine her immaturity resulting in not knowing what to do/which cause to choose and therefore being more than willing to be ‘guided’(?) by the adults in the room (TK, Kelli, Charlotte…?) who thoughtlessly decided -or agreed with her if she truly came up with it on her own- it would be the perfect issue for Victoria.Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of VK. I agree with most everyone’s negative opinion on the way she made the team as well as the way she continues to receive and enjoy (apparent) undeserving preferential treatment: i.e. unapologetic nepotism. If it sounds like I’m letting her off the hook here, it’s only because in this particular case I am less offended by her predictably self-centered ‘story’ on why she selected her cause, than I am by the appalling hypocrisy of the DCC organization as a whole claiming to support healthy body image for women. They think it’s perfectly fine to repeat ad nauseum that the minuscule ‘uniform is unforgiving!’ and that ‘the shorts keep getting smaller and smaller!’ and admit openly that not looking good enough by their standards (e.g. thin enough, tall enough, not too athletic/muscular, not too ‘boxy’ frame, not having what they think is a weird smile or eyes that are too wide open or closed, not “looking like the girl next door but the girl from last night,”… the list goes on, right?) can be enough to cut a girl from training camp or the team. All of these girls/women are stunningly beautiful; yet how often have we seen Kelli Finglass not just find a prospective or current cheerleader’s appearance lacking in some superficial (and often invisible to me) way, but gleefully and/or cruelly mock a girl’s appearance (and on national television no less)?
People can say what they want about social media commentary being the villain in feeding the fire leading young girls and women (and boys/men) to fall into the pit of negative body image, and I would agree it has become a factor. However the DCC should be accountable for/recognize that their own role in openly encouraging unhealthy body image for women has no doubt led many to believe they will never be thin ‘enough’ (or their breasts large ‘enough’ or their hair style glamorous ‘enough’ or...).
The DCC organization has gone so far as to institutionalize unhealthy body image expectations by requiring their cheerleaders to sign a contract stipulating that maintaining an unrealistic weight level is a requirement for keeping their job. (And for the unfortunate ones who verge into the red zone of increasing weight, we are treated to the fake concerned canned bullshit from Kelli, ‘we want you to lose weight in a ‘healthy’ way…)
So hey there, DCC management: Don’t insult us with your endorsement of healthy body image as a cause you care about; everything you do proclaims the very opposite.

If YOU could pick a My Cause My Boots platform, what would you each choose and why?
Mine would be Juvenile Arthritis. 300,000 children suffer from this, and my 4 year old is one of them.
Juvenile arthritis is the term used to describe arthritis, or inflammation of the joints, in children. The most common symptoms of juvenile arthritis are joint swelling, pain, and stiffness that don't go away. Juvenile arthritis is usually an autoimmune disorder.
Thank you so much for starting this conversation. I’ve been touched by so many other posters’ replies (to the point that I couldn’t pick just one cause for myself as with each reply I’d think, ‘yes- I agree with at one!’ until I’d mentally signed on to way too many 😅). Great food for thought to take a moment and reflect on during this holiday season. Thanks again!

Every time they say something like “There are no obvious cuts” and “this is such a tough decision” and then cut to a clip that shows Meredith dancing, it reminds me of that SNL skit where Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley are trying out to be Chippendale’s dancers.
Yes yes yes yes!! 🤣🤣🤣

I love this show! Been binge-watching past seasons. I enjoy most paranormal shows, but I like this one in particular because Steve and Amy are such an unlikely yet entertaining duo. Hard-nosed former NYC cop tactfully interviews witnesses who claim to have seen ghosts (“Were you boozin’ it up the night before?” “Been playin’ around with dope?!”) while emotional/expressive young female medium (who looks completely different from week to week, e.g. maybe clean/fresh-faced or..wearing a little make-up or..decked out in full-scale make-up blitzkrieg with who knows what hair color) talks to the dead and calmly describes her hellish monster visions to a sketch artist. I love this show! 🤣

And Kelli being close w/ her mother complicates the situation even more. And them having Jinelle prying around trying to force her to go to the doctors and checking up on it and investigating it actually makes my skin crawl and I can’t believe people are okay with it. If she’s too fat, tell her...and then if she doesn’t fix it, cut her. Which they did.
Ok. It’s fun to speculate and all but I saw nothing in the episode that remotely supports Jinelle specifically “prying,” “force(ing),” or any other type of nefarious behavior. In fact she’s probably the last person around that place I could’ve imagined acting that way. All we saw was a carefully edited scene that left out a lot of details and subsequently a lot of questions hanging in the air.
I don’t think playing Secret Agent in Charge on Project ‘Beautiful Storm’ was ever something Jinelle wanted to do. I’m thinking J couldn’t wait to get a thousand miles away from that whole dumpster-fire assignment of ‘helping’ VK.

19 minutes ago, MyFavShows said:How was Jinelle “thrown under the bus?” - if anything Jinelle narked on VK for not going to the appointment, which I get cause she’s a 30+ year old employee and she’s going to do what her employer wants, but if anyone was trying to get the other in trouble it was Jinelle doing it to VK and not the other way around.
And I still don’t think it’s the anyone’s business about why a person is gaining weight, and people shouldn’t be forcing people to go to appointments that they don’t want to go to over that stuff - if you don’t lose the weight you get cut, and going to the appointment or not really doesn’t matter. So had she went to the appointment like a good little girl but was still overweight, were they gonna let her on the squad? - no. So why does any of it matter? She did what she needed to do to make weight this year and looks great.
And the reason why Jinelle’s age is relevant is because....?

The one thing I will say in favor of this week is we got to see more dancing than we have in previous episodes and not with a guest choreographer. YAY!
Even my husband said, “What’s up with Kelli’s hair???” 😂😂
You know, I have this episode saved via DVR (like the rest) but have been having trouble getting myself to actually watch it..
(Seeing what’s up with Kelli’s hair might be the best incentive I’ve heard yet. 🤣)

The opportunity to take classes to improve herself and lose weight w/ hard work and discipline? Please - those things are open to anyone who wants to put in the work.
If you’re whole argument is that a regular person would have been blacklisted from DCC forever for not answering a text to or going to an appointment (or whatever it was) set up by the great Jinelle, I respectfully disagree. Others have done worse and still get reconsidered. It’s not like VK posed naked or did anything to destroy the brand. I’m sure girls disagree with each other all the time. She was also 18 years old when that stuff w/ Jinelle happened. Lol.
Can you provide some examples?!

6 hours ago, MyFavShows said:Melissa Wallace had weight issues a good portion of her tenure on the squad, and I remember being extremely disappointed when I finally saw the full version of her solo in that black and red outfit w/ the tricks. You could make the argument she was also extremely “talked up” by the show. Had some good tricks, turns and was flexible - but she wasn’t a gods gift to dance either, even though the show made us think she was. I think she even failed to make TC one or two times before finally making it in and being hyped as amazing dancer. Kind of like what they have done w/ Hannah.
Edit - here’s the video I saw - there are so many things wrong w/ this technique wise I can’t even begin:
Melissa still blows Victoria out of the water. No comparison between the two whatsoever.

That comment did come with context, though. Kelli told Kelsey that if she were bacon, she would be chewy, as in not crisp. It actually made sense to me.
It made sense to me too. I like the visual food references; another one I like in the same vein (not crisp) is ‘noodly’ … 😂

WTH Kelli.... DCC is not a stepping stone? How can it be anything else, when the average tenure is like 3 years. Is this supposed to be the peak of someone’s entire life experience???
wow.
It was/still is for Kelli. She never left so why would anyone else want to?!

That office scene with Jalyn was sickening. The gall of Kelli to suggest that Jalyn was unprofessional when Kelli herself is the walking epitome of unprofessionalism. She’s not not just a passive aggressive, nepotism/favoritism-embracing hypocrite; she’s also vindictive. After the SG announcement she zeroed right in on Jalyn, smugly waiting to see J’s reaction and wasting no time bashing her for it. Kelli enjoys using her authority to punish those whom she has decided deserve it, including having the girls grovel/apologize for their ‘sins.’ Kelli is the worst type of manager there is. Not watching this show anymore.

Insiders, what did Gina do? And don't tell me she got outdanced because that isn't possible, so what was it? Sneaking Vikkie milkshakes on the DL? Kicked Ked's cat? Did they mistake her for Dayton? Was she banging a football player? WHAT WAS IT? Because there is no way this is about dance...none.
Maybe Gina gave VK some feedback/advice re: her dancing (and we all know how that would go over)…

Agreed. I don’t see the comparison. They’re both beautiful girls, but beyond that, they seem night and day to me. Kalyssa, love or hate her, never seemed boring, scripted, or timid to me. Rachel however seems dull as dishwater. Now, i say seems because she may be full of personality behind all of that makeup and carefully crafted pageant persona, but I don’t think it has ever come through on the show. Likewise, in terms of dance, Kalyssa was powerful but very messy IMO. Rachel lacks power, but doesn’t have the untrained dancer look. It’s clear she has good technique and a strong dance background.
One thing I gotta say for Rachel -- I loved it when she told Mentor Melissa that a lot of the DCC dances seemed kind of the same to her. I've often thought the same thing (even though I still love watching them dance). Maybe it's just because they use a lot of the same moves but rearranged for different songs... In any case, whether or not anyone agrees, Mentor Melissa's dumbfounded deer-in-the-headlights look in response to Rachel's comment cracked me up. Has anyone else rendered MM speechless before? ;)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the producers told her she had to sum up what she and her husband were doing to an audience for the CMT. So, she put it in words most people could understand. We work for the government in foreign locations and move around from post to post (aka diplomats). Most government employees call them the diplomatic staff. I don't think she was trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes, but was trying to avoid spending 5 minutes explaining the roles of various levels of workers.
I agree with you; that is exactly what I thought when she said that. Having worked for the federal government for many years myself, I learned fairly quickly I needed to 'fuzz up' my job description for people outside of my specialized area/agency, especially if they did not work for the government. I translated my job description into a very general, somewhat vague title that is easily understandable to most everyone (but greatly over-simplifies what I actually do).
Now having said that, I do agree Meredith (or CMT if they made the call) did not choose the best general term as "diplomat" does carry a more formal/high-ranking impression with the general public, as rightfully noted in this discussion. I wouldn't have even tried to put a specific title on their jobs; I think it would've been better if she'd said something like 'we work for the State Department, supporting diplomatic activities at the American Embassy' for example. Maybe it would be too 'fuzzy' for CMT (who may have wanted to deliberately inflate how important their jobs sound), but it also might've been more accurate and not raised so many questions. And frankly, although still deliberately vague, saying something like that still makes their jobs sound pretty interesting to me..!
