  1. here is my opinion (and it may be the minority opinion): In addition to being a derogatory term, butt boy can also mean brown noser or ass kisser. Given the context, it is very possible that this is what Mika meant. Obviously given the derogatory connotations, she should not have said it, and she needs to be made aware to be more careful in the future. Maybe a short suspension would be warranted, but I absolutely don't think it is something she should be fired for, especially if she does not have a history of homophetic words or actions. As for Trump jumping into the fray, that means nothing to me. It is fairly obvious by now that all he cares about is attention, and any time he finds a good controversy to take attention away from his own problems, he will get involved. On a different, but related, note, I continue to believe that Joe and Mika have not signed a new contract and will be leaving the show when their current contract ends (which they have said multiple times is 2018). I guess we will find out in a few weeks.
  2. You heard correct, she did say it. They tried be cut it out on the 7 second delay, but missed. She later apologized on Twitter.
  3. I was expecting that if they ventured out of their Florida bunkers today, it would have been to DC to cover the funeral. Maybe they had some business in NY.
  4. I agree that the sexual tension not as obvious now, but going back a few years, when their "private time" was limited, it was extremely obvious (hence all the rumors, that ended up being true).
  5. Yes, along with Peggy Noonan, Tom Brokaw and (of course) Meacham.
  6. Here is another similar article https://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/news/city-desk/article/21033928/hosts-of-morning-joe-get-special-treatment-for-their-secret-archives-wedding it seems that the National Archives suddenly likes the idea of hosting weddings and is considering allowing more weddings. So, Joe and Mika could become trendsetters. The article also has one of Joe and Mika’s classic “glamour shots”, with Joe staring directly at Mika’s chest.
  7. This made me laugh. Thanks.
  8. I hope they at least had a second cake, because there is no way that tiny cake could feed 40 people.
  9. I really liked the top part of the dress, but like you, I didn't like the overhanging lace at the bottom. I also agree that white shoes are white shoes.
  10. Another piece of the Morning Joe puzzle falls into place. Apparently this Dr Dave Campbell who keeps appearing on the show is a friend of Joe and Mika's, whose wife Rachel helped with the wedding planning.
  11. Maybe it's just me, but the wedding cake looked very unimpressive. Maybe it was delicious, but it was tiny.
  12. I was just going to post something similar to this. I also have empathy for Mika's daughters. While many people with kids get divorced and re-married, not all are in such publicly embarressing situations. On the other hand, as you mentioned, it was the same for Joe's younger kids, and they seem to have accepted Mika. I noticed this morning that Mika's ex-husband posted something on Instagram along the lines of "a morning run is a good way to clear out negative thoughts". He has since deleted it. So maybe the fact that their dad has negative feelings toward the Joe/Mika union adds to the conflict for the girls. On a different subject, I noticed a sentence in the Daily Mail article that said "despite reports, Mika will be keeping the name Brzezinski professionally". So, it sounds like Mika may be changing her legal name to Scarborough, but will keep using Brzezinski professionally, which makes a lot of sense to me.
  13. Yes, you are right about the daughters, I missed that in my first reading.
  14. With the wedding and reception being so small, it is not surprising that they did not invite many from the show. If they had invited Donny, they proably would have to invite others, such as Steve Rattner, Richard Hass, etc. Even Barnicle only attended the reception. What I find odd, is that there was no sign of Mika's brothers at the ceremony. I am guessing they were at the reception, but I would have expected them to be at the ceremony also. I do agree that it is weird that it was so secret on the one hand, but on the other hand Vanity Fair was provided with full access. Regarding The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, I remember from a while back (before engagement). Mika and Joe were doing something where they were answering questions about NY, and Joe said something about Mika not riding the subway because she thinks she is the Queen of Sheba, so maybe that was some sort of inside joke.
  15. The Daily Mail article that said they were not at the ceremony is inaccurte. Mika's girls were photograhed at the Library of Congress, so they were clearly at the ceremony. The Vanity Fair article is the accurate one, because Emily Jane (forgot her last name) actually talked to Mika and Joe, and it sounds like she was there, DM was just repeating what was written or said elsewhere, and they clearly got confused. They also said that Barnicle was at the ceremony, which is also incorrect. He was just at the reception.
  16. Here daughters did attend.
  17. I agree. I understand the PTV no politics rule, but I thought Joe/Mika Talk would be allowed in the Small Talk thread. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be allowed, but I would be in favor of a Joe/Mika thread.
  18. I'm not familiar with Kara Swisher. Where will this piece "run"? Is it on TV, or online? I missed this line when I watched this previously. I need to go back and watch again. In Mika's book update, she mentioned that she was not happy with the Leslie Stahl interview, because it had been pitched as "not gossipy", and then Leslie Stahl spent a lot of time trying to extract information from Mika about her relationship with Joe. But, Mika did say that she was happy with the final edited piece.
  19. That's what I'm thinking too. A podcast would allow them to still do what they do, but without the rigid schedule of a network show (the downside would be much less money).
  20. My gut feeling is that they are not renewing their contract, but nothing to base that on other than the feasibility of hosting the show long term from Florida. Also, it may not be MSNBC's choice. It is possible that MSNBC wanted them back, but Joe and Mika may decide they want to do something different.
  21. It is true that we are not the only country that does this, but most don't - especially developed western countries (such as Europe). The UK used to have birthright citizenship, but they got rid of it years ago. Having said that, for the US to change, it would probably take a constiturional ammendment - certainly not a Trump executive order.
  22. I am curious as to what Joe and Mika's plans are beyond this year. They do seem to be spending the vast majority of their time in Florida. And while the current setup might be acceptable to finish up the last few months of their contract, it doesn't seem like it is sustainable over the long-term, and I doubt that it is something that MSNBC would agree to as part of a new contract. So, if the end of Morning Joe is in sight, then I do genuinely wonder what Joe and Mika plan to do next.
  23. I agree with you in general, but don’t forget about the shooting at the Republican softball practice.
  24. Joe has been tweeting photos from Fenway Park this evening, so I assume he’s in Boston at the World Series. Also, I noticed that both he and Mika were gone for the last hour of the show today, so maybe Mika went with him. so, I would expect at least Joe and maybe Mika to be off tomorrow. Then they will be back in Florida for their Friday live show.
  25. It is in Boca Raton. I don't remember the name of the specific location.
