  1. I only caught a shot of the show, why was she hanging out in a graveyard?

I think she was walking (you know, the "healthy" episode) and the graveyard was the "turnaround" point of her walk.

  2. I am totally upset!  I have spent two entire days trying to figure out what to do, and I can't solve the problem!  At first, I sluffed it off like it was nothing, but as time wore on, it seemed to become more and more important.  Now, I don't know what to do.

I did not have black-eyed peas for New Year's.  I could use some prosperity, too!  Does it count if you eat them three days later?  The other thing is that the market is closed, and I have no black-eyed peas.  What I DO have is a can of my very favorite Campbell's Bean Soup.  If I added a can of sauerkraut to it, would that count?  I also have some leftover spiral-cut ham that needs to be eaten before it gets moldy.  If you -- especially you southerners -- have any ideas for how I could convert these things into a makeshift black-eyed pea dinner, I'd sure appreciate it.  Otherwise, 2015 looks grim, with nary a penny in my pocket.

Lura, you are just fine. I have never eaten a black-eyed pea in my life and all is well in my world. HOWEVER ... I was raised believing you had to have some type of pork on New Year's Day. As long as we eat a piece of ham we are good to go. One year we had none in the house, and I made Husband drive to a CVS or Discount Drug Mart and buy a Lunchable so we could have our ham! I also use salad for prosperity, too (lettuce = money) because I can't stand sauerkraut. Hey, if I believe it will work, it will! :)

  3. For you Spaghetti O lovers.....Tomasello makes the pasta and you can make your own. My mom makes baked Os for Christmas every year. When the pasta is on sale for .99 cents I usually hoard it because it's sooooo awesome. I've never had Spaghetti Os out of a can but have had these all my life the owner of the company was my aunt's Godfather!

I buy this pasta from Amazon and do indeed make my own Spaghetti-O's sometimes. I still do have a few cans handy in case of emergency, however ... :)

  4.  I think we are forever friends. I also cook 99% from scratch. My MAJOR comfort food is Spaghetti-O's and Twinkies (frozen, please.). I keep a can of Spaghetti-O' in my desk at my office, and a Twinkee in my freezer (in case of emergency.) If I am having a bad day, I pull out the Spaghetti-O's. If I am having a REALLY bad day, I pull out the Spaghetti-O's and eat them straight from the can. That is when everybody knows to back away! :)

  5. Attention everyone:  I will be having a Christmas Party in my heathen prayer closet on Saturday night. All of my fellow heathens are invited. Just make sure you have a designated driver to get you back to your own closet if you have a little too much Egg Nog. There will be food, games, and music. We will need to keep the noise to a respectable level so my neighbors do not call law enforcement. And please be respectful when taking pictures of your fellow party goers. I do not want to see party pictures on any social media outlets.

Can I come too? I am a pretty good cook and baker. I can bring food if someone brings wine. Pinot Grigio is my wine of choice.

  6. Why does she say shrimps in one sentence, shrimp the very next sentence and then back to shrimp in the next? Its distracting. It was in the episode with her dad and the step mom who I can't figure that if she really likes or despises. She kept saying her name in a really different tone.

Kind of like the interchangeable "a cuppa" vs "a cup of".

I know! I saw that yesterday and it bugged me to no end! I was actually yelling at the TV, "it's SHRIMP ... not SHRIMPS.  SHRIMP!" minor pet peeve of mine.

  7. Ree Drummond's Frontier Fancy Pants Dressing

1 loaf French Bread, Split Lengthwise

2 sticks Regular (salted) Butter, Softened

    .

Spread one stick of softened butter on each half of the loaf.

Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, until butter is bubbling.

Remove from oven and let cool.

When cool, cut The Bread into cubes, then toss with 1 cup of melted butter, chopped jalapenos,

2 tsp of seasoned salt, 1 cup diced country ham and three eggs. Mix together, then press into

8 by 10 pan. Cover with 1 cup jarred marinara sauce and two cups of grated chedder. Bake

45 minutes at 350 until set.

Remove from oven, let rest for ten minutes. Cut into squares, roll in bread crumbs, then

pan fry in butter until crispy and golden. Dust with canned parmesan and then wrap in

slice of bacon and secure with toothpick. Deep fry for three minutes, until bacon

is crispy. Drain briefly, then make a hole in the center and insert a wedge of blue cheese

and roll once again in parmesan. When fully coated, roll in shredded barbecued pork, and

then in brown sugar. Saute lightly in butter until brown sugar caramelizes, then top

with the rest of the marinara sauce + 1/2 cup of melted butter, diced salami,  the tears

of the baby Jesus, 1 cup maple syrup, candied rosemary walnuts, an insulin kit,  the dreams

of Ladd's Alien Overlord and a fresh salad of arugula + four calling birds, three deep fried french hens

and two frozen Turtle Dove Bars.

Serve simply, with hot turkey gravy.

I snorted out loud when I got to "the tears of the baby Jesus..."

  8. Has anyone made Ina's Italian Wedding Soup?  Last night I made the meatballs, figuring it'd be a lot easier today to just make the soup, then add the meatballs to warm them up and have them for dinner.  Those meatballs are fantastic!  I grind boneless skinless chicken breasts myself (don't like the packaged stuff).  I bought two mild Italian chicken sausages at Whole Foods.  So that went into the meatballs (along with some other stuff). When they came out of the oven and I tried one, oh my...I had to eat quite a few more!  Have no idea what the soup will taste like but these meatballs are winners.  I can see them, if made even a little smaller, placed on toothpicks, as great with drinks.

That is my go-to wedding soup recipe. I just made it last week. We LOVE it. One change I make is I buy Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese rinds and add maybe 4 or 5 after I add the stock so it all simmers together. When the soup is done, I just remove them. A friend of mine that lived in Italy told me that trick. Makes a huge difference!
