1. I was SUPER square, so this would have been a Big Deal to my 18 year old self at the time. Just Say No REALLY worked on me. Yes, I agree, this was shocking at the time. Remember, it was very rare for TV to show a teen who had a good time drunk without getting punished for it later, let alone a teen enjoying an illegal substance. Nowadays, kids on TV are always drinking for fun, even on stuff like Modern Family.
2. Woah, I was expecting it to be an interview in which Tiffani is bitchy. Oh, no, it's an interview where the writer is bitchy. Like, insanely so. Is that what Sassy magazine was like? Oh, awesome, I'm so excited you reminded me of this interview! I was a devoted Sassy reader, about 12 or 13 when I read it, and it totally blew my mind. All other "teen" mags were so conformist and goody goody, and I didn't identify with them at all. I hated make-up and didn't turn into a total simp when watching Dylan surf, and it was so refreshing to see a magazine that let teen girls be, well, interesting. And this interview made me so happy, made it feel ok for a girl to feel superior cause she was smart, not cause she was prettier or more popular. I loved the takedown of dull-as-rocks Kelly Kapowski. Basically, I was the perfect audience for the soon-to-come debut of My So Called Life. Anyway, Sassy writers still watched 90210 as much as anyone did, and I remember they did a reader survey of which female character they wanted to be the most, and poor Ohhndrea got dead last and Sassy quoted one reader as saying they didn't want to be her cause she had "fat arms."
3. After listening to Extra Hot Great this week, The Real World could also be a good one for Again With This. Tons of snark opportunities with the fashion and the early 90s earnestness, but also we all have so much affection for it.
4. I'd love to hear Tara and Sarah snark about something that is trying very hard to be good, but actually can be so bad at times. Something that needs to be taken down a notch. For me, it would be Game of Thrones, but maybe that show is still to popular to recap. Something like West Wing or Parenthood?
5. Nice Nutcracker reference in the Visual Aids!
6. I hadn't seen any of these episodes, and still haven't (I stopped watching after Donna Martin graduated), but I found myself getting really caught up in these plotlines just from listening to the podcasts and wanting to hear how the casting drama played out. I think it's pretty good soap opera writing this season!
7. Anyone else find Brian Austin Green extremely attractive with his wig and stache?
8. I'm behind on the podcasts, catching up, but just want to make a boring fangirl comment that these podcasts just keep getting better and better, I love them, it's amazing you all don't get sick of it, you still sound fresh and funny. Thank you! Will be buying my t shirts tonight.
9. So sad to see Joe go right when I was getting into this podcast! I had already split up the hosts in my head like this: (All four are so smart and funny!) DavidT: The nitpicky one (eg: It wasn't as good as E.T., thumbs down!) Tara: The lowbrow one. (The one who isn't ashamed to like trash TV, doesn't care about old movies, etc.) SarahD: The macho one (Doesn't like family sitcoms, likes sports, likes The History Channel) Joe: The highbrow(ish) one (Sounds most like a New Yorker critic, likes family feelgood dramas)
10. I'm late catching up on these podcasts, but just wanted to say that Sarah D. yelling "take a hint!" at Donna was great and made me LOL driving around on this hot horrible day running horrible errands.
11. Oh wow, the two episodes I had in mind were already in there! Come All Ye Saints from Big Love and Consider Helen from Enlightened. And I thought my TV tastes were so original . . . Loved all of Joe's comments in general on this one. I only started listening to the podcast recently and already have sooo many episodes I want to submit to the cannon. Tiny quibble. I did once see Ryan Adams skateboarding backstage before a show. It was an outdoor amphitheater, and he was skating on the driveway behind the stage. So it's not totally outlandish.
12. I have to quibble a teeny bit with some of the "no one cares!" in this episode. I went to UVA in the late 90s, and I am embarrassed to say, people took Greek life and also student government pretty seriously. There was a huge politico clique of kids who were on Student Council, Honor Committee, Judiciary Committee, or Jefferson Society. I was on the student newspaper, and we all took ourselves very seriously. I can remember covering the student government elections as big news. And I can see how frat guys could maybe feel defensive about a "progressive." Frats have pretty much been defending themselves from a growing movement to shut down the Greek system since the 80s.
13. The podcast is now on the episodes I've never seen. (I stopped watching after Donna Martin graduated). And they are so entertaining! I'm like waiting for the next ep to see what happens in these plotlines. I wish all soapy shows on TV were recapped so well on a podcast. I'd love to know what's going on in GoT without having to actually watch it. (I'm a GoT hater, yet want to know what's happening with all the characters.)
14. I have to say, I remember loving the Senior Breakfast part when I watched it as a tween. Especially the song about Brandon. I didn't rewatch, just listened to the podcast, but I think I would still like it. Who doesn't love highlight reels?
15. In today's world, Mel would have gotten all the blame for giving alcohol to a minor
16. I see everyone's points, but this episode gets me every time. I want Donna to graduate and I cheer on those chanting teens! I'm a sucker for a climactic courtroom (or boardroom) scene.
17. Adding to points made during the podcast, it seemed unrealistic to me that these nondrinking kids would treat the champagne so casually. Sure, the hardened partiers Steve and Kelly may think it was no biggie, but the dorks like andrea, brandon, David and Brenda would have been so weirded out and awkward
18. I don't remember this episode, but sounds like one I would have liked as a kid. I love the boys on a caper.
19. "Requiem for a Cream Puff" and the "Druncle" comment, both soo good.
Kinda wish you could still buy speed over the counter . . .
20. Lol-ed at the "douche with zippered notebook line."

I agree with Tara's comment on the podcast, Andrea and Dylan could probably be pretty good friends if they gave it a chance, since they're the two smart ones. Dylan must get bored with Kelly's vapidness.
21. Ha! That's a horrible thing for that Super Cuts woman to say, but at least you now have a pretty funny story to tell!
22. Had no idea about the Luke Perry rumors! Also, would LOVE to find that Simpsons game mentioned on the podcast. Bart fought enemies by beating them with his skateboard, as I recall. Suggestion for future podcasts. Would love to hear Tara and Sarah react to the I Hate Brenda excerpts. I guess I was out of the gossip loop in the early 90s, cause it's all news to me!
23. Love the excerpts from the I Hate Brenda book! Learning a lot of tidbits I didn't know before!
