  1. Regarding the bolded point- I'm sorry what?? their whole relationship has been littered by rough times. They spent 2 whole seasons (9 & 10) going through a rough time. As for Callie and Penny, as much as I find them to be a really really bad joke, the fact that Callie wanted to uproot her child's life, get a demotion, and hurt her former-love-of-her-life ex-wife in the process, to leave to be with Penny shows that Callie considers Penny as her second shot at true love. Edit: the song you're after is “River of Tears” by Alessia Cara :)
  2. and... there's also Callie loving Arizona and Penny.....
  3. @BaseOps, did any of Callie's lines get cut? as in, was your viewing different from what aired?
  4. Is this Sara's last appearance on Greys? if so.. they have given her a huge disservice. she barely got to say a few words.. she didnt even say bye to anybody. did they cut out her parts to show next season? i have way too many questions...
  5. Crowen - RIP Merder - RIP Japril - no more baby drama. now they can work out how they feel about each other and give it another go Jolex - now they a meaty storyline for next season Benley - church and state are no longer at odds Miggs - Mer and Riggs or Maggie and Riggs. A love triangle for the next season... not that Maggie has a chance against the main character lol Omelia - happy couples always get a cut in their screen time, so yay for next season! Calzona - *sighs* Arizona has officially been redeemed. I feel season 13 will be her being back to her original self and I hope she too finds love cos she sure as hell deserves to be happy after all this. Callie, you deserve to be happy with Penny.
  6. Ha! also.. now that Jo's real identity is gonna be revealed.. i wonder if she was also using a fake accent.. haha i love her british accent.
  7. I caved too!! and now I'm just wracking my brain to figure out what we mightve guessed about Calzona that might be true. also, thank you @BaseOps for the spoilers :)
  8. I totally get you, and for me as a Calzona fan and I'm mainly focussing on Callie. Greys has been drilling in this whole #drama! #thrills! bullshit at the expense of their characters. I'm a strong believer of character-centred drama over plot-centred drama, and what the writers are essentially doing here is trying to fit the character into their story rather than writing a story for the character. I remember during creative writing class in high school, my teacher told us that a story that changes it's characters to match the story is a story that's not worth telling. I understand that ratings play a huge role in shaping the path of a TV show... but seriously come on.. I hate hating characters I once loved.
  9. I really don't understand Callie these past 2 seasons. She essentially said she felt suffocated in her relationship with Arizona because Arizona chose to do the fellowship under Herman and delay having their 2nd child. In other words, she felt suffocated because Arizona wasn't making the choices that Callie wanted her to make. Then she finally meets the perfect girl, (they "finish off each other's sentences"), the girl she tried so hard not to love, the girl who was worth getting a demotion for, the girl who was worth going through a custody battle for, the girl who was worth ruining Arizona for.... yet.... the girl she couldn't possibly love long distance. What was this all for?! If Callie knew before all this custody bullshit, that she didn't have a love that was strong enough to last long distance for a year, than what made her think their relationship would even last in NY?! Why hurt your daughter, your friends, yourself and more so, why hurt Arizona, the person who you once loved so much, if you were able to break up with Penny in less than 2 minutes? And then she has the nerve to ask Arizona accommodate for her twice, the second time being for the reason that she was having a "bad day" (Sofia isn't an object to play with to forget about your shitty day and to forget about when all is fine); knowing that you've lost her trust and patience and grace by keeping tabs on her text messages, her work life and social life to use against her. I know Callie isn't the most selfless, self-aware character on the show, I mean who is right? But this version of Callie is just unbelievably stupid and pitiful. I just can't see how in the hell the writers thought to do this to her if their purpose was to bring back Calzona. If Arizona had any love left for Callie, this episode sure as hell took that away.
  10. Black Night, I really enjoy reading your insightful analysis of the current Callie-Arizona SL :) Regarding Penny though, I think Perfect Penny is just the Perfect Prop. She was used to bring about growth in Mer, now that that's done, she was used to bring about growth in Amelia, now that that's done, she was used to bring about ultimate damage to Calzona, and with this 12x22 done and dusted, she has completed her mission on Greys season 12. i don't think she'll be back for the next season and quite honestly, I think the writers deliberately chose her to be Callie's partner knowing full well that the two lacked in the chemistry department. So that it would be easy for the viewers not to get too invested in this couple. Heck, they done even have a ship name and they were together for most of the season. As for Callie and Arizona, as much as I'm not a Calzona fan (ex-Calzona fan), I do think they are endgame so next season we'll probably see a slow burn reunion. I'd like to see Arizona get a new love interest (Penny 2.0) with Callie trying to win Az back.
  11. Arizona is written better (or back to her semi-original self) after Stacy McKee and Bill Harper took over as the show runners in Season 11. As for Callie, I think they are taking her to her absolute lowest point so that she can self-reflect on her actions for once and be accountable for herself rather than blaming others and playing the victim card. Which is why (in my opinion) they broke up Calzona early Season 11 so that they could be apart, mainly for Arizona to find herself and for Callie to not have Arizona as an excuse to make whatever choices she wants to make. Regarding the Alex and April copping out of Arizona's witness line-up; I think the writers wanted to emphasise the under-dog aspect of Arizona's case and so they had Mer, Owen and Bailey (arguably the most out-spoken/well listened to characters) to support Callie. Notice, every time Calzona are in crisis, they show Callie and Mer as being best buddies.
  12. If the situation was reversed and it was Arizona with Penny, I honestly don't think this mess would have happened because Az is not impulsive. (Yes she has made mistakes, but was during a bad time for her when she was physically and emotionally unstable.) I know that Arizona doesn't "do long distance relationships", so I think she'd either break up with Penny or if she really did indeed love her enough, she'd give LDR a try. However, say she acted OOC and wanted to follow Penny and take Sofia with her, I'm pretty certain Alex and April would have her back. When push comes to shove, Alex and April always pull through for Arizona.
  13. a good writer can write up a good story using any basic/generic prompt. And honestly, I may not be LGBT, but I think Callie getting knocked up with a turkey baster would've made for a compelling story which would be interesting to the viewers. Instead of the modern family SL, they could have gotten Callie and Arizona to look through pages and pages of donors and have them bickering over the qualities they want and dont want (comedy);then once they've chosen the donor, show them going through the difficulty of artificial insemination (drama); have them experience a loss (tragedy); have them celebrate once they find out they will be parents and then copy paste the musical episode (drama! thrills!).
  14. I don't think Bailey was called in as a character witness for Callie. I think she was called in as an expert to provide her expertise as the chief of surgery with whom Arizona and Callie both report to. My 2 pennies on this episode: The Good- Calzona's 5 years montaged into 50 seconds during the "previously on greys anatomy" the Title Card with Arizona's and Callie's faces one either side of the title gave it a dramatic movie-feel to it Webber and Robbins' friendship Bailey shaking her head at Callie and Callie turning away Arizona's win and despite the win, Arizona not looking happy knowing that Callie would be devastated over the loss Japril being civil and mature Alex's ample screen time Mark was mentioned Jessica and Sara's acting The Bad- I still can't get myself to give a crap about Stephanie's SL Why are non-regular GSM surgeons always shown as incompetent dinosaurs? The Ugly- Callie's indifference towards Arizona during the trial - I found this way OOC. Callie can be selfish at times but she's not a heartless bitch next week's promo
  15. haha! better than me, I kept reading it as "Mama Triad"
  16. I watched the sneak peak of Arizona taking the stand (and being ripped apart by Callie's lawyer) before I watched the sneak with Mer's VO referencing the bible story. And what Arizona says on the stand, automatically reminded me of the the Judgement of Solomon (1 Kings 3:16-28). She says "I want my child and I want her with me, but I know that no matter how this ends, she will survive, she'll be healthy and safe, well taken care of and loved, because we are her mothers... But there is a child at the hospital who will not survive unless I am there, so I have to go." What Arizona says kind of mirrors the mother who surrendered her baby to the other. I didn't take it as Arizona giving up on Sofia, because however which way this case goes, Arizona will always be a mother to Sofia, and of course, Sofia will always have Callie as her mother as well. Though the mothers may be separated, they will always be there for Sofia regardless of who wins sole physical custody. So for me, it just showed that Arizona considered Sofia before her own self. I know that we've yet to see Callie taking the stand, but I hope she also shows selflessness when it comes to Sofia, so that whoever wins custody of Sofia deserves to win.
  17. I like your format GreysFan89 :) My thoughts of the Ep: 1. Why is April such a hysterical nut job? And is it just me or does Jesse Williams only have one expression? That kinda confused and angry tilted look. 2. Arizona going off at Penny is the highlight. But seriously, Penny really is everywhere. 3. The mention of Hunt's penis had more screen time than Alex 4. At this point, I won't miss Callie if she goes. Never have I hated a character, but Callie is making it very difficult for me to understand why she's going through all this unnecessary mess.
  18. I agree with everything you said. IMO, pre-Arizona/Calzona, Callie was the butt of most jokes, got the short end of the stick in story lines that she was involved in and stuff was rarely ever told in her point of view. After Arizona came along and they became a couple, Callie found her voice, was strong and walked tall. Calzona was great in terms of effectively communicating with one another, supporting one another and working things out with each other without relying too heavily on a 3rd party's POV of their situation. And then! Africa happened, and things totally shifted. Callie was the decision maker and Arizona took the back seat, the doormat, the good wife. Maybe it was self-imposed punishment for going to Africa without Callie. Whatever it was, she lost her voice, her POV and pretty much everything revolved around making Callie and her "dream" happy. If Arizona ever did make her own decision, she felt bad about it soon after and Callie would get her way. This continued until the plane crash. The plane crash ruined Arizona, mentally and physically. It also brought about change in her attitude towards Callie. She resented her and refused to go along with any of her decisions. Ultimately, she made the worst mistake of cheating on Callie (which I believe was way OOC and sacrificed the character for the sake of Drama! Thrills!). And once again, Arizona was back to being the doormat. It was her own never-ending carousel. But finally... the divorce happened. After the divorce though, I believe both Callie and Arizona have found their original selves; with Arizona finding her voice and refusing to be bulldozed by Callie and her desires. So right now, they are both on an even playing field. I don't know if Shonda is gonna bring these two back together, but if they really are end-game, I have no idea how they're gonna come back from a bitter custody battle. Mark was Callie's best friend. Friendships are always given the best treatment on Greys. I guarantee that if Mark and Callie were romantically involved, Shonda would have screwed up their relationship big time.
  19. Don't forget this is a drama series. In the real world those two would have communicated more for sure. However, this show is: 1. All about drama and thrills 2. isn't character driven 3. Relies heavily on the choppy writing for the sake of moving the plot forward No need for looking for rationality in greys, it'll just drive your head in.
  20. So, so far 12.19, 12.20, and 12.22 have confirmed Calzona storylines. It looks like they saved Calzona drama for the season finale. I was wondering why those two hadn't interacted with each other (on screen) ever since the start of this season. As a fan of this couple I'm both thrilled and terrified of what's to come. Thrilled because they seem to have potentially powerful scenes up a head and terrified because, well, Shonda hasn't been kind to this so called "MFEO" couple. I hope to god it won't be a custody battle, but it all clues are pointing to that. And despite not like Callie this season, I sure as heck don't want to see her leave Greys and definitely don't want to see her leave with Penny. That would be a blasphemy to Calzona, the character and the fans.
  21. I just hope it's not a custody battle between Callie and Arizona. Maybe it could be a reunion of some sort but I just don't want to see the ugly between Calzona again.
