  1. So now Hudson is trying to find out who tipped off Red at the airport.  Um, because the tower didn't announce that all planes were grounded?  How is that not a clue something is up?  And I'm with Weecha on the flying on a bomb all the time.  Ugh, I'm still waiting for Hudson to get his...

It was nice seeing Dan Butler as the AG.  I wonder what happens to Cynthia in all of this?

And of course Red is the last name/#1 on the list.

I figured Pritchard wouldn't survive but I did feel bad for Ressler finding him though I don't understand why he didn't (or maybe he did) inform the wife about what had happened.

    On to the finale.

  2. And we're back...  I thought after last week when they all had to do something with pasta we'd get similar challenges but nope.  Ugh!  Why is this so hard for this show to get right?  Pretty much every food competition show has folks cook if not the same dish, then at least the same type of dish.  That's all this show needs to do but no, we get everyone making dishes for the people they love or that's comfort food or whatever.  How are you supposed to be able to fairly judge how these folks do if they aren't even cooking a semblance of the same thing?

The top two dishes were criticized during judging for flaws yet based on what the viewers were shown, we didn't hear that critique when they announced the final results.  As said upthread, someone should have gone home this week as nearly every dish got dinged in one way or the other.  I've just accepted that for some reason this has to be a cryfest for the contestants and the judges but if someone messed up a dish, then send them home.

It would have at least been interesting if Ressler spotted his NA buddy in Congressman Hudson's office while they were looking at the monitors at the secret room at the Capital building.

Heh, I figured I wouldn't have been the only one waiting for that to happen, lol.

Even though Red is using the FBI to dismantle his empire and incriminate themselves in the process, I still can't believe he'd want to have Harold, Dembe and the rest possibly get locked up since Hudson now has them on this recording.  Also, how does Red not know that Hudson is still on his crusade (or does he and he really is just going to let the team be arrested and put on death row)?

And yes, letting someone use your work phone was bone-headed but that's Ressler for you especially since the feds do have security awareness training (though they don't seem to enforce it when it comes to Congress).  So is Ressler's friend going to drop dead from an overdose while at their AA meeting?  And how convenient to have a "blind spot" in the Capital bldg and what sort of tech was being used that it wouldn't have been picked up on a sweep?  No one noticed anything out of the ordinary?

I really want Hudson to be dealt with and not in a kind way...

  4. I liked Natasha as well but physical stuff in the suits really didn't seem to suit her and once someone self eliminates, it's time for them to go.

I'm curious about the new people as well though I hope TPTB don't pull a fast one and have some of the already eliminated people back in the mix.

So finally Ressler's addiction guy is actually brought into the storyline.

And it still ties into Liz...  So, it'll be Liz who brings the task force down...how charming.

The wedding will be the next battleground.

I doubt that since the bride-to-be was arrested.

And of course Red would find Agnes' recital more important than his own health.  I did like the rest of the team out in the field being useful except for Ressler (though I see Diego directed so maybe it was too much for him to actually be out in the field though that never goes that well usually anyway).

At least we seem to be getting some traction leading up to the finale and not so much Red doing what ever it is Red has been doing this past several filler episodes.  We actually got a blacklister this time.

You actually don't want ribs falling off the bone as that means they are overcooked.

Pretty much what Steven Raichlen has said about ribs that fall off the bone.  He says they should have some chew and that's why we have teeth.

    They definitely have front-runners already.

Agree with this.  Let's see if they can get through the season without making the finalists that obvious.

  7. They seem to be going down the same rabbit hole as last time.  There's got to be a way to do this so it's more fair across the board.  I'll be curious to see what happens on the second epi since they've kept all the cooks.  I really want them to have everyone do challenges where they are using the same type of ingredients (tweaked to respect any dietary or religious needs).  That would be a better gauge.  Doing it the way they did last season is too random.

  8. Yes, the task force doesn't seem to be doing much arresting of folks nowadays.  I'm almost inclined to agree with the congressman.

So it's going to be Dembe being an FBI agent that takes the task force down?  I still don't buy that Red will let the task force get hung out to dry especially Dembe or Cooper (for Agnes' sake).  Red has already had to tap dance out of being called a snitch for the FBI before I can't imagine what would happen if the congressman does indeed out him as the FBI's big squealer while he's planning his retirement with Weecha...

Red has a funny way of dissolving businesses but I guess it was easier having the task force take his organization down than it would have been to just walk away from it and let them fight it out amongst themselves?  At least the folks got a party out of it (though Red does seem to have given them and the others a severance package).

The finale really better be worth it after all this filler (though we did get a little movement on what the ending is headed towards this epi).

That was really bad.  It's just so obvious that these last few episodes are being padded with filler because the producers were contractually committed for 22 episodes -- so they had to put something on the screen.

Which makes no sense.  Why didn't the TPTB just negotiate with the network for a half season?  Instead you have a chunk of the season dumped in the summer season which is usually dead for network tv unless you count all the game shows and talent shows and it's not because the show doesn't have enough for syndication purposes...

They'd have been better off doing fewer eps and making a tighter season to wrap up without all this filler and burn off which can't be getting NBC any decent ratings and is expecting a lot of the remaining audience.

  10. So Blair Foster is going to feed information to the congressman for what in return?  Well, I hope he enjoys being beholden to her...

Again with Weecha?  Obviously Red seems to be setting himself up to retire/sail into the sunset but is he really going to let an upstart congressman and Foster take down the task force?  Even if he's getting ready to go, I can't believe he'd leave Cooper (who's looking after Agnes) out to dry or Dembe or any of the others for that matter.

  11. More filler and no one missed Weecha and why the heck didn't Red just tell Siya in the first place instead of trying to be byzantine about it...

It's pretty bad when your wife has to bring you a case (also, what was up with that bad wig?) to help keep some senator's investigation at bay.

So the blacklister was stealing dowries from unsuspecting immigrant women, having them go through with fake marriages and then worry over the disappearance of their husbands because she got conned out of her dowry herself?  I agree with Dembe, she could have done something helpful to warn or help potential victims instead.

  12. The Blacklist Sets July Airdate for Supersized Series Finale at NBC

The Blacklist is officially getting a summer sendoff.

NBC announced Thursday that the crime drama will wrap up with a two-hour series finale, airing Thursday, July 13 at 8/7c.

As you’ve likely already noted, the James Spader-led series currently airs on Sundays (at 10 pm), but the show will indeed move to Thursdays as of June 1. Back-to-back episodes will air that night, at 8 pm and 9 pm, while subsequent episodes will air only at 8 pm.

Talk about a waste of federal assets in a time when money is tight. Oh, and for the cherry on top: “Sure,Remy, use the agency’s helicopter. Hey, you need lunch?”

Eh, still cheaper than what goes into the DoD budget - talk about fraud, waste and abuse and pretty much no oversight.

I'm glad the Remy drama is over but I found it odd that they just threw in some throwaway bank robbery/hostage situation.  And yes, there was no reason to focus on the Jewish aspect of the family.  They were scum and I hope they and the DA do a lot of time.  And yes, the DA's actions are going to be called into question and a lot of cases are going to get reopened, thrown out or at least trigger lawsuits.

Let's hope that next season they leave Remy's personal drama out of this show but I get the feeling that won't happen and then was there any resolution to Hannah's off the books stuff?

  14. Yes, the cliches, nothing like only three agents going into a big, creepy cemetery at night with no back up.  Ugh.  Also, that looked like a big mausoleum.

Glad that Nina and the baby were okay.  As for Scola choosing Nina over the baby, there were ways to go with that storyline if it had played out but shows like this really don't need that kind of personal drama.

All-in-all, a good season finale with no cliffhangers.

I was nervous they would kill off Torres since isn’t Wilmer on another show as well? These undercover episodes make me way too nervous.

He's supposed to be doing a remake of Zorro which I thought would start last year...

  16. Of course Maggie was going to escape...

So I'm curious how they are going to work Sam Hannah into this version of NCIS next season.  Also, is Agent John Swift going to make a return based on his phone call with which ever entity he was talking to at the end?

All in all, this shook out pretty much how I suspected it would (so I won't go into the how, what, where, who that things that happen on shows/movies do that would never work in real life [like bending time]).

  17. This was fine up until the end with the Torres family drama which I figured was coming up when he immediately had to call his sister after he got back to HQ.  Moody Torres is not a good storyline for this show.

  18. I also find the senator's crusade about the money being spent on an FBI task force laughable considering how much money the government allocates to the DoD and the amount of money they spend on equipment from private companies with pretty much no oversight at ridiculous mark-ups.

  19. So, your last season and you're doing filler episodes?  Really, show?  Also, are we supposed to care about Siya and her mommy issues?

I also think the nosy senator is another distraction that won't go anywhere so why waste time on him?

Obviously, Red is up to something but what I have no idea.

  20. It was an ok finale but yes, the show could have gone off several seasons ago but yes, it did keep people employed.

I didn't expect to see Linda Hunt but it was nice seeing Nell and Nate and even Sabatino.

It'll be interesting to see what projects some of the cast members can wind up in or maybe what other directions they choose to take their careers/lives.

  21. I don't necessarily mind the CIA stuff but this was overkill.  Also, wasn't Robyn calling for backup; what happened to that?

I also liked the Aunt Vi/Dee storyline.  It would be interesting to see if Aunt Vi is going to try and help the guy.
