He really is obnoxious, isn't he? I don't remember feeling that way about him back when I originally watched the show. I will say one thing though...he is really cute in the opening credits. I hate myself for thinking that.
I always hated whiny Brenda, too but there have been a couple of moments that I mentally fist pumped when she was bitchy (particularly the slumber party). She's a pro.

I don't/never drink but when our immigration lawyers sent on some champaign to celebrate us getting our green cards we decided to drink it on NYE 2007 and record a podcast. That's about halfway through.
We're going to need to hear the whole thing.
I'm totally ready to move to Minnefornia now.

So many good theories here! I didn't think it would be possible to get excited about this season (I really disliked last season) but here I am, wondering how in the heck I'm going to be able to stay away from spoilers until January. I wish for this last season they would have aired them in the US at the same time as the UK.

I am curious about Edith's scene at the :46 mark. She seems to be filled with anxiety but also perhaps anticipation and excitement. It makes me think her "happily ever after" will be Gregson's return from the dead. I just can't see them pulling off two brand new romances and having them both reach some sort of completion. Mary has more or less moved on from Matthew, but Edith brings a lot of baggage into a new relationship. A Gregson return would allow them to relatively neatly resolve the Marigold situation.
I would not hate that, if that's what happens. It would be a nice pay off for Edith for going with her heart and taking Marigold back (despite the issues that whole storyline had). It would be nice to see one good thing happen for Edith.

When they show Anna at around the :40 mark, she looks much older. I wonder why?
-
First of all, why? She is his mother and they live in the same house -- why does she need to put up a FB post to wish her son a Happy Birthday?
Especially since they don't even really let their kids on social media. How is he supposed to see that super special purposed message?

After watching the trailer, I suspect that its either Isobel or Bates who dies (if there is to be a character death, that is).

You guys, I have a scrapbook from my senior (?) year of high school. It might include my junior year, too. At any rate, I have a cut out of a dress VERY similar to the one Brenda/Kelly wore that was my prom 'inspiration' dress in it. I'm too lazy to get it out and confirm if it is the exact dress, but it is definitely design-adjacent to that dress.
Did anyone else catch the lyrics to the song (the one that was the last dance of the evening? That was some deep shit. I ROFL @ the visual aids remark/picture of Lili Taylor's brother. Spot on!
Oh, I wanted to add...I seem to remember Brenda losing her virginity as a much bigger deal than it actually ended up being? Is there another dance scenario in another season were S-E-X is a much bigger deal? Is there a prom or something? I feel like there was a BFD made out of Brenda and Dylan sex at some point.

The FRC people have got to be furious. They gave this unqualified yahoo a huge opportunity, and he made them look like chumps. Now that is worthy of schadenfreude.
Are you kidding? LOL I'm expecting some FRC email addresses to show up in that leak. I wouldn't not be surprised at all!

I wonder if Anna's sisters-on-the-outside are trying to convince her that this stuff is not her fault and that she doesn't have to stay with him. Her sisters have to believe that this is fucked up like the rest of us do, right?

Edit: I know people could put in any e-mail address they chose, but I'd bet my next paycheck at least some of those email addresses were legit. There were quite a few .gov address too.
Wouldn't people need to use a legit email address? How else would they get notifications? I have no idea how AM actually works, but I feel like using a legitimate email address might be necessary.

This is unreal! Poor Anna. Poor kids.

I just started rewatching Melrose today. It's on Amazon prime. I had totally forgotten about the Sandy character--she is entirely annoying! Ugh. Every line she utters starts with "well well well..."
They sure made Rhonda out to be a bit of a caricature. I really like her an Matt's relationship but some of the stuff she does is embarrassingly silly.
I had forgotten how good looking Grant Show was!
I'm really enjoying watching this show again. I haven't watched it since it used to air on E back in the late 90s? Do I have that right?

OK, here is one more reveal I would like...Rosamund is Edith's real mother. Some people wondered about it in S4 with some of the private Edith/Rosamund scenes. It would be a great twist.
It would be a great twist, and an interesting one. I would like to see something interesting happen to Edith.

I have spent the last few weeks binge watching my way through seasons 2-5. It's been so long since I watched season 2 that I was happily shocked to see Sybil again. I miss that character. Today I started back with season 1. Good times! Even when this show is bad, it's still good. The clothing and accents are enough for me. It will be interesting to see how this next season wraps everything up.

Steve's Mom had the house fumigated OVER PRESIDENTS' DAY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I bet she did it just to fuck with him.
-
So Brenda is stranded at a hotel, and guy she doesn't know says "Hey, you can stay at my house" and her reaction is to kind of consider the idea? I feel like a normal person would respond with side eye and "Are you out of your god damn mind?"

Finally got to watch/listen. Holy crap, Brandon is insufferable!

For anyone who is thinking the latest fashion retread of high waist jeans is a good idea, please go look at the pictures. High waist jeans are never ok, particularly with the shirt tucked in!

I think it did happen and that scene was edited out for syndication. Along with my beloved Mony Mony.
The only reason I think that didn't happen is because of the scene with Brandon and Andrea where he asks her what she is doing and she tells him she's going to a women's conference or something like that, but then says it's at his house. I would think he would have known what she was doing that night if he had told Brenda to invite Andrea, being that he was kicked out of the house for the (not a) slumber party.

The brunette car thief accomplice is Hilly from Weird Science.
Steve gets exactly what he deserves, acting like a fool in hopes of getting a BJ or whatever he thought was coming his way.

My method for these podcasts is that I see the post for the next episode, complete with title, then I watch the show and then listen to the podcast. Every time I see the post title, I can't wait to watch the episode to hear the title in context. It's always a fun surprise. For this particular week, I nearly died laughing at "You're so warm!" Good christ, how much coke was on the table in this writer's room when they came up with that line? ROFL! Between that and "So, you like videotape?" (A WTF moment, for sure!) those writers were bonkers!

On another note, the personal stories you guys are sharing are even better than the show. Love it.
The put-a-condom-on-the-giant-dildo-while-blindfolded story was the best! Very practical life skill, that is!
