  1. That was really fun.

Brainy and Nia, you two screwed up the timeline, the Legends should be offering you a job shortly.

We already knew that young Kara and young Alex were good, but young Cat was great.  She had Cat's mannerisms down to perfection.  But yeah, young Cat was kind of an idiot thinking that Alex was old enough to be a professor.

Right.  That's what I meant, at least.  I think it's obvious that Steve killed with the shield - but there were probably all faceless "bad guys" and he probably didn't do it when he clearly had the upper hand and could have just arrested the person instead.

Yeah, there's a difference between killing in a battle, a life or death situation, where Steve is also protecting people.  If anybody Steve was fighting had no weapon, and was on the ground, no way in hell would Steve kill them.

Walker chased after the Flag Smashers with the full intention of killing any he came across.

Even after Bucky "died" in First Avenger, Steve didn't kill Zola.  Steve and the commandos captured him.

I actually had a similar thought. It's also a nice contrast to Sam, who actually had more of a character even back in The Winter Soldier, when he pretty much had the sidekick role.

Speaking of sidekicks...what actually happened to the guy from the first episode? The one hanging around with Sam? Did I miss something?

Torres is still around, Sam was on the phone with him in the last episode.

  3. There is blood on the shield!  The shield was used to kill somebody.

The government's gonna be blowing up Sam's phone, with "Look, we made some mistakes.  We know you broke out Zemo, we don't give a shit.  Can you please take the shield away from Walker?  We had no idea he would murder somebody with the shield.  We'll do whatever you want.  Just please take up the mantle of Captain America."

I thought about that too, but 1998 Deon is aware of our present, Deon's future, or variants of the same. So he would be familiar with Mah Homie. Although I would say it would have been better to have him compare himself to someone who was established as an all-time great by then like Joe Montana, Troy Aikman or Brett Favre.

But he wouldn't be the next Mahomes.  He would be Mahomes before Mahomes was Mahomes, and the Chiefs got bailed out in the Super Bowl against the Niners, where apparently a rule is that the Chiefs especially the O-Line can do whatever they want, including holding Nick Bosa the entire game.  And how targeting doesn't exist if it's a Chiefs player doing it to a Browns player going in for a touchdown.

Sorry, got off on a tangent.  The could have had him say we was supposed to be the first Mahomes.

  5. I've been doing a rewatch of the Buffyverse, and I really enjoy "Beer Bad".  Hell, I'm pretty sure I've watched it more times than "The Body", "Once More With Feeling", and "Conversations With Dead People" combined.  There's just so much in that episode that I find entertaining.  Xander's horrible fake ID, Cave Slayer, Xander as the bartender, the great season 4 comedy team of Giles and Xander, and that it's so quotable.  It's not a tightly writ episode by any stretch of the imagination; but there's just so much that's entertaining in there.

I can see now why folks would take the trio threat seriously, even if I still think they've been pretty lame prior to this ep.

They were pretty lame and not threatening till Dead Things.  It's amazing how much they predicted the rise of Incels.  A group of friends  who are nerds and haven't had the best of luck with the opposite sex, hanging out, playing games and reading comics seems innocent enough.  And 99% of the time it is innocent, and it's just a tight knit group of friends.  But then you get that Warren in the group, who is able to take control and lead them astray, to where they blame everybody for their issues and become something incredibly dangerous.

And in the world of demons, hell gods, and vampires, who does the most damage to the Scoobies?  Warren, and he does it with a freaking gun.

Remember when the Master killed Buffy, he didn't run her down, he praised her courage for facing him despite the prophecy.  Warren, has none of that respect, he just shoots her, kills Tara, and if he was a better shot would have probably killed Xander.  He could have killed 3 Scoobies right there.

Warren is the most vile character Joss created for the entire Buffyverse.

  7. Told you that you'd turn around on the Trio being a threat, especially Warren.

The most disturbing episode of Buffy, ever.  The attempted rape, and Warren's full blown out of control misogyny.  Warren's shit is a lot worse today, thanks to the rise of Incels.  In a world with vampires, a Mayor selling his soul to become a demon, and a hell god, the scariest stuff is the shit that can and has happened in real life.

There were some great moments in the episode.  Dawn's reaction to Willow and Tara being together was nice, it's surprising that on rewatch, I actually like Dawn.  Buffy kicking Warren's ass, including Jonathan telling her how to defeat him.  And Xander's comeback to Warren.

Warren tells Xander that he hits like a girl, thinking it's an insult.  The thing about that is that the most powerful people in Xander's life are women.  He's not gonna see that as an insult or be threatened by it, like Warren is.  Shit, Buffy even tells Warren that he's got issues with strong women, which we all know that's true.  When it comes to Xander, every woman that he's been attracted to or with are Buffy, Willow, Cordelia, Anya, and he had sex with Faith.  Xander loves strong confident women.  So the line of "You hit like a girl" isn't gonna piss off Xander, however Xander's retort of "At least I know how to get one", completely destroys Warren.  Just one of the big contrasts between Warren and Xander.  Granted Xander can be hot headed and a jerk at times, but he's always able to see the line and go running the other way instead of crossing it.

Pretty much done with this season. I've reached Hell's Bells, got the ending spoiled for me on some review site, and yet, I'm not that fazed. Just going through the motions with this season until I'm done with it. I've just been so bored watching this season. I thought it would've been more high-tension, darker and more depressing. What a disappointment that nothing's gone to hell yet, and I'm just bored waiting for Seeing Red so that I could actually get excited about something.

And god, those geeks are so boring as antagonists. I thought Glory was bad enough as a generic superpowered villain with no other unique characteristics (aside from super strength), but man, that trio really takes the cake, not just in how creepy they are with their desire to enslave Buffy as a piece of meat to be fucked and controlled, but also how non-threatening they ended up as, just disappearing suddenly after Dead Things.

Oh, you're gonna want to stick around.  You'll do a 180 on the Trio's lack of being a threat.  Warren is the most vile piece of shit to be in this show.

Morgan Edge seems to have a fixation on Lana and her husband doesn’t care. Good job Kyle.

Gonna say it, they've been writing it like Kyle has a bit of a crush on Morgan.

Sam Lane is a piece of shit.  Great to see Lois call him out on everything.  I'm guessing he's gonna be the real big bad for Superman, and Captain Luthor will become an ally when he realizes that Clark will never turn into his Earth's Clark.

So Morgan Edge wants to resurrect people and wants kryptonite?  He's gonna bring back Zod to be his puppet.

Clark and Lois have an argument because Clark wasn't at the meeting and was going after a criminal, they talked it out, both apologized, and they took some time apart allowing anger to flare down?  Nice to see another healthy relationship in the Beeboverse.

And because it has to be said every week.  You really don't want to piss off Lois and go to war with her.

  10. Clark bought a hat.  Peeps, Clark bought a hat after becoming assistant coach.  He's such a dork, I love it.  And like he mentioned on Supergirl with his klutz act, it's not much of an act.  It's who he really is.

I liked Clark getting beat in the fight, and then stomping the shit out of the guy.  Clark always holds back, he uses as much force as is necessary.  He didn't know if the guy was a goon of Edge, somebody with enhanced strength or what.  Once the guy knocked Clark down, Clark knew he could cut loose a little bit more.  You may think you can beat him in a fight, but when fighting a goon he's not gonna use the same force as when fighting Darkseid or Doomsday.

Edge continues to make the mistake of going to war with Lois.  You don't do that.

Jordan on the football team isn't bad.  Seems to be doing good for his esteem, and he and Jonathan are a good team.  Also, with Clark there, there's now 2 family members to make sure Jordan doesn't lose control.

Waiting for the moment when Sarah rubs it in her mom's face, that she's got the interest of 2 Kents.

  11. Wanda's Scarlet Witch costume was as the kids would say "fire".

Jimmy, Monica, and Darcy should get their own show.  You've got a new trinity of side characters Marvel, don't let them go to waste.  They all got a badass moment in this episode.

We haven't seen the last of Agatha.  She's gonna be back to help deal with whatever Wanda unleashed.

As always Olsen, Bettany, and Hahn delivered.  And this was Olsen's best work this show.

I’m loving the brotherly love. Keep this up and avoid the temptation to sibling swap CW!

Yeah, Jonathan and Jordan's relationship is a highlight.  It's clear they've always had each other's backs, and always loved each other.  And I'm gonna say it, that's the reason Jordan failed his test.  His powers were unlocked protecting his brother, they both have powers, but they're the key to each other's powers.

Sarah, your boyfriend isn't sweet.  He was willing to seriously injure Jordan over a kiss, and wouldn't let go of his drive for revenge even after you told him to knock it off.

You never go to war with Lois, that's just a losing battle.

  13. Insurance not covering something that it should, healthcare being too expensive, bad treatment of mental health, and a cancer patient getting no treatment?  It's the most realistic episode of Batwoman ever.

This episode shows the huge problem with no crossovers thanks to COVID.  The second that Luke finds out about Ryan having kryptonite poisoning, he would call Supergirl.  No way would he not have a contact number for her.  Even a quick mention like "I called Supergirl, and she can't find anything on how to fix it."

Ryan's ex was in the wrong.  Ryan went to jail for her.  She holds no high ground over Ryan, so she can stop with apologizing being enough and getting mad at Ryan for the device.

But didn't they kill off Pa Kent while Clark was a teen (or under 21, at least) on Smallville too? That where I thought they got that from.

Killing Jonathan before Clark goes off to college has happened in comics, and in Superman the Movie.  With the exception of Man of Steel, it's always a natural medical illness that Clark can't do anything to stop.  It's part of what drives him in some iterations to save as many people as he can, because he couldn't save his dad, and he wants to spare people from that same pain.

So there’s tension between the twins with Jon as the alpha but he has a caretaker quality to him. He made sure to bring food so Jordan could take his meds and didn’t hesitate before throwing his body on Jordan to protect him from the falling pipes. I cannot express how much I love that Jordan’s powers manifested as a result of seeing Jon get his ass kicked and wanting revenge/to protect him. We just need to squash the CW’s urge to do any brother swapping and I’ll be happy.

Captain Luthor?!?!?!? Lex has a kid?

The boys truly are Clark's kids, despite the comments at each other they'll do anything to protect the other and make sure they're okay.

As for Captain Luthor, I'm guessing he's a Crisis remnant.  Lex from an Earth that was destroyed.

    11 minutes ago, cambridgeguy said:

So was Captain Luthor not cast when they filmed the pilot?  Or is there going to be some big reveal when he shows up in Smallville pretending to be someone else?

And Jon took the idea of moving back to Smallville really, really well.  You'd think he'd be more upset about giving up the QB job and saying goodbye to all of his friends, but maybe he's saving that for next week.

I'm thinking it's gonna be a big reveal.

Jon was the starting QB as a freshman at one of the top teams there was, so he probably feels he's gonna have no problem winning the starting job in Smallville.  Also, we saw at his heart, that he's a good kid.  He can still talk to them online, and he might be more focused on the family getting better.

Good episode, although Sarah, you gave Jordan your number all sneakily and didn't give Jon your number.  That's a bit of a flirtatious move, but Jordan, dude, get consent for the kiss.  As for Sarah's boyfriend, dude was gonna murder 2 kids because Jordan kissed his girlfriend.  Sarah should probably dump him, so he can go hook up with Tory from Cobra Kai, they both have such rational reactions.

Fans know the drill and usually are pretty forgiving of this kind of stuff because most of them don't want the actress in question to leave the show.

Especially when said actress is playing a beloved character that has had years of development.

Angel completely destroyed the Queen C persona, and made Cordy stronger than she ever was on Buffy.  And hell, they built up a good romantic relationship for Angel and Cordelia.  Who would have thought that during their time on Buffy?  The development of Cordy and Wesley are one of the reasons that I think Angel was a better show than Buffy.

I now think Hayward knew something more was up with Westview than just a missing person. He had to have tracked Vision's body there after Wanda took it.

The question is how did he get the body?  Because, there's no way in hell that any Avenger would let him take Vision's body.  And Tony damn sure wouldn't let them take the last remnants of JARVIS.  So, he definitely stole the body.  Had the rest of the  Avengers known, they would have beat his ass, it wouldn't have just been Wanda breaking Vision out.

He's a lot more shady than he's letting on.  He was doing something to Vision that went against Vision's living will, and what the Avengers wanted.  Hell, wouldn't be surprised if Vision was buried alongside Tony's mother and father, and Mr and Mrs Jarvis.

I definitely thought Malcolm in the Middle when I was watching, which started in 2000 so while things were still pretty culturally 90s, and then transitioned into the early 00s with Even Stevens and a bit of Rosanne, especially the twins talking to the camera and the vibe of "its chaotic, but fun!" that a lot of late 90s/early 00s sitcoms had. The cutaway to Wanda and Pietro's childhood also felt very late 90s/early 00s, and served something of a duel purpose of both being a dumb sitcom joke, as well as another clear indicator that something if very off with this Pietro. That was very obviously not a flashback to the real childhood of Wanda and Pietro, even leaving behind the fact that its pretty unlikely that an Eastern European country, even a fake one, would celebrate Halloween, I highly doubt little old ladies were hanging out old fish while cars were on fire in the background during fake Halloween in the 90s. Wanda even quizzes Pietro on some childhood memories, even if he can tell right away that its a trick question, and whoever this guy is, he doesn't really seem like Pietro, at least the MCU version. He actually seems to have more of the slacker prankster personality that X-Men Peter had, but with some of MCU Pietro's memories of his death. This guy also knows more than anyone else, but still has some kind of Wanda approved memories, so he did get the sitcom memory upload, even if he also knows that this is fake. I also cant imagine either Pietro joking about Vision dying to Wanda, especially MCU Pietro who was so protective of his sister, its way too much of a dick thing to say.

Yeah, him joking about Vision is definitely not up Pietro or Peter's alleys.  Peter may have been a slacker prankster, but we never saw anything to suggest that he would make a joke like that.  He would offer to help.  Heck, in Days of Future Past, Peter was holding his sister and sitting still as Magneto was delivering his speech.  And he wasn't the world's biggest fan of sitting still.

    Pietro isn't Pietro or Peter.

The only pregnancy story he could come up with was having Cordelia sleep with Angel's son? That was beyond gross and made NO sense. Before he came back as a teenager, she was like a mom to him.

It reaffirms what Angel fans have known for almost 20 years, the show was better off with Joss staying the smurf away.

Like I said in another thread, I'm grateful for Joss creating Buffy, Angel, and Firefly, and directing 2 Avengers movies.  But, he's a shitgoblin.

I'm all for a recast too.  I think Lucy Lawless would be great, but in addition to the other reasons mentioned here, she's about 15 years older than Gina.  She's ageless and could play any role she wants, but I'm not sure there would be much continuity.  I'm sure there's another former-MMA or WWE star out there who can act just as bad - I mean, good - as Gina did and would be a fit for the role.  Maybe one of the Bella sisters?

It's been suggested that Sonya Deville take over the role.  She's a wrestler, and did MMA so she'd be good at the action, just got to figure out the acting.  She's also only 27, so that's great for the Star Wars franchise.  The only issue is after what happened this summer, would she want to deal with the insanity of some Star Wars fan on top of wrestling fans.

And there have been rumblings of this for years.
