  1. I think Taylor is such a poor actress that we, as viewers, just can't get into her character. When she got onto the tabletop to give her speech about her new business, I actually, literally, physically cringed and wished the scene could be over. I felt actual embarrassment for Taylor Schilling as an actor. It was just horrible, kind of like the time she said to Soso that she is a lone wolf, and told Soso not to make her rip her head off with her teeth, or something to that effect. No one is going to buy that. Not the way she said it. I have no idea how she got the role as the "protagonist," which is what a lot of sources call Piper Chapman.
  2. Because I don't think these talented writers would want the audience to think that Bennett is a complete moronic jerk a-hole who would simply disappear without a word, leaving his pregnant girlfriend and baby alone, I have an idea of what happened with him. When I saw the DEA making their way into Cesar's house and taking the new baby and other children, I immediately thought that the raid was a result of Bennett's visit to the home, where he witnessed Cesar's "discipline" (pulling a gun on his son to make him eat french fries, for example) and saw the living conditions where his new baby would be. We know that Bennett has an uncle who is friends with the warden (this came up when he told Daya he wanted her to apply for furlough), and I think that Bennett reported Cesar to the authorities. By doing so, he knew that the children would be taken to a safe place and that Cesar would be taken to prison. Bennett himself had been "gone" for so long that no one would associate him with the bust. Has anyone else thought about this too? I guess I want to think better of Bennett. I think he is a good person, and that he would NOT desert Daya and the baby.
  3. Hi Everyone! Why do you think they hired Dascha Polanco to play Dayanara? She is one of the poorest actresses I have ever seen. She acts as if she has had a frontal lobotomy or something - just this robotic, blank expression. I remember when Caputo said that he'd cancelled Ruiz's transfer, and Daya said, with this blank stare, "That. Is. So. Nice. Of. You." Really? NO sign of enthusiasm or anything? I can't buy into her "love" for Bennett at ALL. The other question I have about her is - why would Bennett be attracted to her, of all people? Again - zero personality, constant bad mood. She's certainly one of the least attractive of the girls. It seems that it would make more sense for Bennett to fall for cute little Maritza Ramos, or almost anyone EXCEPT Daya. But I find it hard to believe that Bennett, who is new, would break the rules right off the bat and have sex with an inmate. That entire storyline made no sense to me. And if they are honestly going to leave it this way, with no resolution - just Bennett driving off into the sunset with the crib on the side of the road, apparently deserting Daya and their baby, then they've made it the worst storyline ever. I wrote a post about what I think happened with Bennett, but it is now gone. I will post it again.
  4. I really enjoy the interaction between gruff, mean, bun-so-tight-it-acts-as-a-facelift Wanda Bell and her always-on-a-diet-but-always-eating-or-sipping-something teddy bear of a sweetie, Scott O'Neill. He was so excited to tell her he'd learned some new things about the female anatomy! They are so cute together, and I love their ever-so-subtle facial expressions and loving gazes in various scenes and thought that these two are an example of great casting!
  5. I think it is clear that Healy is in love with Red. I think he got a Russian mail-order bride because he is in love with Red; he was hoping to get someone like her. I love their chemistry - their sweet interaction. When Red was playing Healy, leading him on by flirting with him to get her kitchen back, I felt sorry for Healy, because I knew he was hoping for something more. I really like Sam Healy. I think that his reasons for being the way he is - and for his weaknesses and frailties - come from a truly disastrous childhood with his clinically insane mother.
  6. Obviously, this is no longer an "unpopular" opinion, but I agree with those who said they don't like Stella (Ruby Rose). What is there to like about her? Her accent, poor acting, and well, I'll go back to her accent, cancel out anything positive about her character or her job as an actress. She is very beautiful - very much like Angelina Jolie - but there was no buildup to her character. She just showed up at a sewing machine one day, and then Piper decided to have sex with her (of course). And come on ... Piper collected, and was able to HIDE, all that contraband that she found while she was searching for a cell phone, so that she could somehow find a time when no one else was around and secretly hide all of it among Stella's things and ruin her release? That was a giant "Come ON!" moment for me. I was so hoping that Stella would be released and get off the show. In fact, it's be great if she'd take Piper with her.
  7. Y'know, I bet we'll see more of Healy's backstory in the coming season. There has to be a reason that he is so lesbian-hating/fearing. Remember the scenes they showed of Healy as a child, with his insane mother? I wonder if, at some point, he walked in on his mother in a lesbian encounter or something. I actually love Sam Healy. I think that he actually DOES want to help the girls. He may not be very effective, but I believe he has a genuinely warm heart, and that he had grand visions of his role at the prison, but because of the leadership (Fig in particular), none of his visions could be realized. I loved the scene where Murello got married, and Healy and red were gazing at one another. There is something there - probably just a bond due to their similar ages and the amount of time Red has been at Litchfield, but I think they truly care about each other.
  8. HI - I'm new here, so hi, Everyone! I actually tried to find a forum to discuss this series because I wondered if anyone else is assuming that Bennett has disappeared because he has been busy arranging for Cesar's arrrest? The writers lead us to believe that he left the crib by the side of the road because he was chickening out of his relatoinship with Daya, but I think he left it there because it was associated with Cesar and the lifestyle that Bennett witnessed when he went to visit that house. That crib, and all that it represented, made him sick. I think he orchestrated Cesar's bust so that the children, including his own newborn, would be removed from that god-forsaken hellhole of a "home" and would be taken into protective custody. He knew enough about Cesar, he had visited the home and witnessed Cesar pulling a gun on the boy who didn't want to eat french fries, and he could describe the conditions to the authorities. Also, he had the prison connection, so he'd have credibility. Remember when he told Daya that his uncle was friends with the warden - or something like that - when he was first trying to talk her into asking for furlough? Anyway, I wondered if anyone else sees this possibility? I don't like the Bennett/Daya storyline that much, because they didn't give the relatoinsihp enough time to develop and it seemed forced ... plus, of all the girls there, I doubt that Bennett would fall for Daya. She has the personality of s stuffed animal, and she's certainly not the prettiest girl there. Or maybe my problem with it is that (sorry for those of you who like her a lot), the girl who plays Daya is just not a very good actress. What do you all think about this possibility? If it has already been discussed, I am sorry. I haven't had a chance to read all the topics yet.
