HOW was KaShara not in the running for cover?? How??? Does not compute.

Stephanie's face is beautiful in that photo but I agree the swimsuit is yuck.

Did she take a better pic? Because I think the one above makes her look like roadkill. I understand what they were going for with the reflection, but it doesn't work for me.

Bramhall? Nah, I don't really see that. Mainly because Shelly is only a few years younger than Kelli and I can't see Kelli leaving this job for a good long while. By the time she's ready to retire, Shelly will be old too. I think Kelli will want someone relatively young as a replacement, so that person will occupy the position for a long stretch. She wouldn't want someone who would only do it for 5 years and then move on.

When Kelli starts thinking about retirement, I believe she will pick a senior DCC recently retired from the team, or about to retire, and name that person Assistant Director. That person will be AD for a year or two before Kelli retires, so it's a long, seamless transition. I don't think it will be anyone we know about now, because all of those people will have presumably moved on to other things. I think she'll want someone with relatively recent experience with the organization, as opposed to going looking for Megan Fox or somebody like that, who has been out of the loop for years.

Maybe Brooke would come back for an opportunity like that.

sooo A few of the TCCs seemed really vocal on social media before tryouts and now nothing? I'm not sure whether they're a) too exhausted to bother or b) been told they shouldn't?

i was hoping we'd have a bit more to gossip about ?

Tasha went private on IG, and she doesn't much strike me as a particularly private person.

I wonder if they kept some of the iffy vets to possibly cut them later.  More drama for the show.

Someone posted recently that Jasmine was intending to leave last year but they asked her to audition and be cut for drama. On the one hand that makes sense because  she moved to California pretty quickly after that and that seems like something that would be in the works for a while. But on the other hand she and others looked genuinely upset.

DCC doesn't have any agreement with Twitter.

Check out DCC_Kelli and DCC_Amanda. They work at a random marketing agency called DCC Marketing. That would suck if anyone named Kelli or Amanda made the team

You're correct, and I was misunderstanding the Twitter trademark policy. It sounds like if someone has a legitimate claim to a name and isn't posing as someone who holds a trademark, you can keep the handle.

  6. Maybe one of the rookie TCCs dropped out and they asked Kat back?

I guess if Kat really wanted the Twitter handle back, she simply could've just changed it herself. It's not like the DCC organization could tell her otherwise.

She can't do that. Twitter owns all handles and I'm assuming the Cowboys have an agreement with them to control any DCC_*** name.

Didn't she say last season that she was on the Hawaiian dance team or had studied it or something? Maybe that was bellydance. I definitely remember seeing her do some little hip moves for Kelli.

She was in this show in Waikiki. What she's doing in the video is definitely hula (the arms/hands) with a little Tahitian thrown in.

Agree that Kelli (initially) goes for looks. But as I said before - and if you're only looking at the light/dark equation - the DCC has had more AA DCCs in the past, and Kelli was the Director then too; has been for more than 25 years. So either the AA girls auditioning now aren't as skilled as the gals in the past, or there just aren't as many AA dancers auditioning. Could be that with the explosion in music and music videos since the 1990's, many girls are choosing to audition and get dance jobs in other venues, and I wouldn't blame them. DCC is only one, narrow avenue of dancing. The music industry path is much broader and certainly pays better.

This is an excellent point. I agree that if you're a beautiful, talented dancer you have lots of options and the DCC really needs to be a passion for you to want to do it.

Maybe Cowboys organization makes up for lack of perceived diversity in DCC by their football players being 85% AA. :)

I think Kelli, and especially Judy, go by skill, not by a desire to vary the squad demographically. Like players, candidates are added by their skill. And yeah, some years DCC has had more obvious ethnic variety, like in the late '90's. early '00's there were more AA ladies than now. There were also more blondes too. But there's more to diversity in ethnicity than dark/light. Last year there were 3-4 girls of Asiatic-influenced ethnicity, plus a couple of Eastern influence (I thought Mary was Persian-American. Could be wrong...). There's a whole wonderful plethora of variety out there in the world! I hope girls of all varieties and backgrounds continue to be interested in auditioning.

Maybe Judy goes more by skill, but there's a reason they group the finalists by hair color and skin tone during the field performances in finals. Their casting is far from colorblind.

You would think that they could automate the judges scoring....pageants do it.....weird they have stuck with the same process.  Wonder if these first time judges are creating the delay?

But it's not a scientific process. Like a couple years ago when Danielle was going to be cut but Kelli and Charlotte decided to take her anyway.

Hm...interesting.  Probably wise of Simone to do something that she is wonderful at and is super unique...

I don't know. Since Simone is probably on a bubble I think she should have done something a little more straightforward. Hula is fun, but she really needs to show them she can dance. I'm even more nervous for her now.

I've watched most of the videos now and I swear there aren't any of the candidates doing the exact same arm movements in the first two 8-counts! I really wish we had a video of a vet doing the "correct" version so that we could compare.

I agree with this completely. I have no idea what the actual routine looks like because no two people did it the same.  Cersten looks the most confident to me for the first half of the routine.

  13. Is it common to have a demonstrator in front for an audition like they do in the videos? It seems to throw them off more than it helps them. Several of them just have their eyes locked on the vet (Bethany is particularly bad), and a lot of them cut things short or rush. Then you have Whitney, who screws up the choreography but looks great because she's just relaxed and going with it rather than trying to keep up with the vet.
