  1. I don't know when this is from but it looks to be at least 10 years or more.  Tim looks so very young.  Jill looks so different and I think good.  All the children are dressed so well and look physically well compared to now.image.thumb.png.61bc1598cfcdeabfcd5e082cc6c8a383.png

Nurie from the same time.  Is that Renee? I don't know who the other woman is unless she the wife of Ron Hamilton who was in one of the other pictures.image.thumb.png.93b31569fc0365672c9bd4c15419ed91.png

So very sad.  I follow Bob Newhart on Facebook and this is what was posted:

I made omelets for dinner last night. The first egg I cracked had 2 yolks. I know it can happen, but I've never seen that before.

The first time that happens is really a fun treat.  I found some eggs in a PA farmer's market that were specifically double yolks.  I missed the surprise.

Not on streaming with Frndly. Those shows are replaced by things like Love American Style and so on. I live in an over-the-air black hole. I've accepted that this is a first world problem. I plan on canceling Frndly today. It's not worth it for just MTM.

I keep it for the ability to record METV and other programs they do show.  They do get their shows from a different streaming source.  When 77 Sunset Strip was a marathon it showed different shows than at least their over-the-air programming.  Monday over-the-air is Nash Bridges, Frndly has Police Story.  Also no JAG on Wednesday.  And the Laverne and Shirley episodes on Frndly never included the diner one.  But it has a lot I can record, so it's worth it for me.

  5. He is after YOU! Have you given in to his devices and ways?

    1 Peter 5:8-10 KJV

[8] "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: [9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. [10] But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."

She is just so clueless.  I think she sees herself as this avatar.  Pretty and thinking.

Decades is showing the episodes in order. But they didn’t start at the beginning. They started in the middle of the fifth season and will go through the end of the sixth and final season - the weird one produced by Jack Webb that only features Stu Bailey after the rest of the cast was fired, and was originally withheld from syndication.

I get Decades through Frndly tv and the shows so far are: S5ep15, S5 ep16, S2 ep 34, S5 ep18, S5 ep19, S5 ep20, S2 ep 35 (The Silent Caper), S3 ep7, S5 ep23, S5 ep24, S5 ep 25, S3 ep 8, S3 ep10, S5 ep 28, S3 ep15, S5 ep30, S3 ep20.  Not any of the final season. I've found that Frndly doesn't always follow what being shown on a particular channel  H&I shows Police Story instead of Nash Bridges on Mondays.  Wednesday it's NUMB3RS instead of Jag.  They've also shown different episodes of Laverne and Shirley when it was shown on METV.  I found out that my channels are streaming from a different site.  Frndly is great for having an incredible amount of channels and recording capabilities and even with the differences that happen it works well for me. I just checked and found that there are some season six episodes on Sunday night around 5pm.  Episodes 8, 9, 11 and 13.

Years ago, we had not had rain for about 7 years in CA.  I was teaching in a 1st grade classroom when the sky suddenly opened up and we had a downpour.  The kids were scared, and I realized that most of them had never actually seen rain.  We went out on the covered sidewalk, and it was fun to see their amazement that water was falling from the sky.  They were sticking their hands and arms in the rain, and were very excited.

In the late 70's we had real snow in the Central Valley.  I was teaching Kindergarten, and I let the kids go out on the lawn in front of the school and play in the snow.  They had so much fun.  It has not snowed in that area since.

How fortunate your kids were to have you for their teacher!

I looked at the TCM 31 days of Oscar Schedule. Which version of Mutiny on the Bounty should I watch? I have never seen either version before.

I've only completely watched the Gable one and I like that a lot.  IMDB has scores for movies.  Their rating which comes from users on IMDB  was 7.6 for the Gable version.  7.2 for the Brando version.  The big difference was the Metascore which is made up of professional critic reviews.  87 for the Gable version, 48 for the Brando.  If you have the time and inclination, watch both, but maybe those numbers can help decide.

I made a big pot of Ukrainian (hot) borscht last night.  We had that for dinner and will eat it for a couple more days and still have enough to freeze a container.  It gets better with sitting around.  I have been making this recipe for at least 45 years.  It is adapted from the ancient NYT cookbook by Craig Claiborne.  I have probably made this recipe more often than almost any other except spaghetti and meatballs and macaroni and cheese.  I first had this at the Russian Tea Room (of blessed memory)* in about 1971.  I had to figure out how to make it myself.

I make a very chunky version with 4 chopped beets, 1 turnip, 1 potato, 4 tomatoes, 3 carrots, 1 onion.  Sweat the vegetables in 4 Tbs butter, with sugar and cider vinegar and salt to taste.  Then add a whole head of cabbage chopped into strips.  The vegetables must be coarsely chopped, like large julienne.  (The original recipe tells you to shred the vegetables, but that does NOT work for how I want it to taste.  You lose taste of the vegetables.  I tried, as it would be easier to use the food processor . . . So it has to be hand chopped with a knife.)  (The original recipe has you add meat, but I don't do that.)

Cook some more till the cabbage is sweated down with the vegetables.  Then add some beef broth and water to cover the vegetables, bay leaf and fresh dill.  Adjust sugar, vinegar and salt.  Cook for as long as necessary till the vegetables are cooked.  Serve with sour cream and more fresh dill.  This is a very chunky soup with a small ratio of liquid to vegetables.  If you had this at Veselka on the Lower East Side, it would have more liquid.   I don't find that satisfying to eat.

This is different from cold borscht, which people would eat in the summer.  Just beets and not the other vegetables and not the same sweet and sour flavor.  Served with a boiled potato or a hard boiled egg and sour cream.

    * actually the restaurant is still open but it has had different iterations and owners.  I have not been there in decades.

    This sounds wonderfully delicious!

I'm trying to imagine visiting a city with stunning architecture, amazing food and fascinating art...only to eat Big Macs and spend the evenings in a hotel room watching reruns of a tv show from the 1960's.  But I know the Duggars do things different.

It bugs me that many of the Duggar trips are once-in-a-lifetime dream vacations for many people, yet they schlup around not able or willing to appreciate where they are and what they're seeing.  It's completely wasted on them.

Willful ignorance is not uncommon with these people and their friends.

My kids are off this week. One of them has a birthday today, so I left him a fresh baked loaf of banana bread before I went off to work this morning. I think he'll appreciate it.

I can't imagine him not appreciating your thoughtfulness.  Happy Birthday to your son!

Putting this in spoiler, some may not want to read this.

      Reveal spoiler

    My heart is breaking. 💔

    Let me explain...

In life, we all experience many joyous moments.  We gladly share those moments with others, and perhaps we are viewed as having the "perfect life."  Although no one has a perfect life, we should always be grateful for and focus on the many blessings God gives us.

However,  it is in the tender, broken, grief stricken moments of life that I find myself learning the deepest truth to surrender.  Surrender to an ALL knowing and perfect God!  When life seems unfair, we can try to make sense of it or simply trust.  We can choose one of two responses. BITTERNESS or BLESSED.  Blessed in knowing that we can trust a sovereign God.  Trust a God that NEVER makes a mistake.

It is a beautiful and special moment when through a season of trials in life, we experience a unique blend of a bleeding heart all while finding peace as we yield that same, broken heart to the will of God.  ❤  As many of you, I find those moments most tender between the Saviour and I.  💙  He is truly a Man of Sorrows, acquainted with my grief.

Recently, David and I found out we were expecting baby #14.  We were all THRILLED!  😊  Kaylee was so excited to be pregnant together with me.  We ALL began to hope, dream, plan and rejoice together.  But, those dreams came crashing down when (while in Florida) David rushed me to the ER with many pregnancy complications.  We were losing our sweet baby and we all felt numb.  💔 Then the tears came.  😢

But oh, what sweet communion that was with my Lord.  He collected each of my tears and put them in a bottle.  (Psalms 56:8 "Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?")  He saw me rise, shower and go to church and sing in the middle of my pain.  He saw me kneel to praise His Name. He saw me serve my family, when all I felt like doing was curling up in bed.  He saw our family press forward.  When no one else could see my heart aching with sorrow in a church service, HE saw!  When I felt that the whole world might not understand my sorrow of losing my 6th baby to miscarriage (due to the fact I already had 13 living children), I knew God understood.  Each child God has allowed us to conceive, is a direct gift from Him, even if He chose to take it to Heaven early.

You see, nothing goes unnoticed by God!  He rewards faithfulness in the midst of our pain.  He cares about each detail and He longs for us to run into His arms of grace and comfort.

My son in law (Jonathan) kindly reminded me that this baby was in the center of God's hands and that there was no safer place to be.  What a comfort!

Please rejoice with us over this life given to us for oh, SO short a time!  😊❤🩷🩵 -Jill (for us all)

    Ephesians 1:12 KJV
[12] That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

    Galatians 6:14 KJV
[14] But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

I realize everyone grieves in their own way but to have someone take a picture of her being heartbroken in a pose like this just doesn't feel authentic.

Sadly, we had to put Nathan down this morning. At about 5:30 am he started howling and when we got up to check on him, he was dragging himself across the floor with his front legs. Our regular vet is closed on Saturdays so we took him to a different one. They said he had a blood clot in his back and was in a lot of pain. So long old pal.

I'm so sorry. I hope you find peace in knowing what a good life he had because of you.  And comfort for sweet Elizabeth and all of you.

For breakfast Cosmo got some chicken breast and plain rice, for a treat a tiny broccoli stalk. We went for afternoon walk, and it seems the worst is past. He seems subdued but no vomiting or diarrhea. He did enjoy walk and now he’s napping. After afternoon walk he got one blueberry (I made myself a snack of Greek yogurt and berries so I gave him one).

Such a sweet good boy.  It's so hard when they're sick and diarrhea/loose stools can be such a mess when they go inside.  You are a wonderful pet mom.  All your furry people are lucky to have you.  I hope Cosmo continues to feel better.

Today is my husband's birthday. When I asked what he wanted for dinner, he said steak, baked potato, and asparagus. I went to The Fresh Market and got filet mignon, sweet potato for him, white potato for me, and some beautiful asparagus. They had shrimp cocktail on sale, so bought that for an appetizer. We don't eat dessert, but birthdays call for some. They are gearing up for Valentine's Day with lots of heart shaped goodies. I got an individual serving heart-shaped chocolate cheesecake for him and strawberry cheesecake for me.

That sounds wonderful.  Happy Birthday to your husband!

I lost Decades years ago, which sent me on a wild goose chase to get an antenna, that the Best Buy salesman assured me had a 60 mile range to try and get it OTA out of Baltimore (30 miles away), but I appear to be in an OTA black hole, so that didn't work. I recently subscribed to Frndly that carries Decades, so I've got Mary Tyler MooreThe Bob Newhart Show, and Newhart back in my life, which makes me happy.

I found out about Frndly because of you, so thank you! I have Hulu so I can get/record TCM and an antenna which gets me a lot of local stations plus METV, Antenna, Start, Dabl, Grit and most local PBS channels.  Frndly is great so I can record METV, H&I, Hallmark and especially Decades.  I've missed Decades for years since cable changed to Start.  I love all of the MTM shows so that's a real treat.

One fundie blogger is angry that Jinger threw Jim Bob and Michelle "under the bus."

What has she even read that Jinger wrote? From her article: "Jinger said with the help of her brother-in-law, who I assume is Derrick, Jill’s husband, she was able to see clearly many things that were wrong about her childhood." How could she have missed it was Ben? We all know it was Ben and we're not trying to make a fundie point.

No.  Grandmothers who are not the primary caregiver already have no business being around someone with either COVID or flu much less both.  Do you want that child to have the guilt of killing grandma should the worst happen?  I wouldn't do it and my kids would yell at me to stay home by myself should I remotely hint at such a thing as knowingly exposing myself to either virus.

With someone an hour away it's gracious to offer to take food.

So much truth here! No one who loves you wants to take a chance on losing you.  You are being a great help with shopping and meals.

I like "The Rifleman" but they could bump "Wagon Train."

I like it a lot but there are 10 episodes compared to losing "Maverick" one time on Saturday.  I get to watch "Maverick" on "Heroes and Icons" during the week so I don't lose it. But for some people, they only got it on Saturday.  I would prefer "Wagon Train" gone instead of either of those.
