  1. Pope said it's so much worse than you could imagine.

Is it a town full of alien chow?

Also loved how the door to the gates of hell/time vortex/another dimension/worm hole is operated by a garage door remote control.

  2. Yeah, it's not really the nicknames per se that's the problem for me, it's the presumptuous overfamiliarity-ness of it all as SistaLadyBug and Bossa Nova (not referring to you as "SLB and BN", nope, just not doing it! ;) have pointed out.

Her friendship-making seems to have an agenda.  I had a friend like her once; she could turn on the charm and make fast friends very easily, but she would drop people, too, when they no longer served a purpose.  Rightly or wrongly, that's how I am seeing Heather.

I want to add that is it a coincidence that the women she is simply mad about are also the ones with the titles?

  3. Heather to me is the type of woman who sets a target and goes after it, even with friendships. She seems a little bit opportunistic in that way, quickly making Carole a close friend, and pretty much ignoring  down-on-her-luck Sonja.  Although if Sonja were to suddenly get back with her ex husband, I am sure Heather would immediately change her tune.

She tried to buddy up with Bethenny, with the excitement about her being on the show and the starting in with the nickname, but good old Bethenny wasn't having it.

She has a friendship with Kristen, sure, but the stuff she pulls on Kristen she doesn't seem to do to Carole or Luanne, because she sees Kristen as a different kind of friend.

Just not a fan of this (or any other RH) Heather.

  4. I like these two so much and really hope it works out for them.  They seem like genuinely nice people, and I would be happy to have them both for friends.

And OMIGOD, Ryan's mother! How adorable is she?  Such a sweetheart.  And the niece, also adorbs.  I really wish for good things for this family.

  5. Why are there no crickets in Wayward Pines anyway? It can't be a hologram because why wouldn't they just hologram the crickets in as part of the program (YES, I watched Star Trek TNG)

Like really, under what scenario would they need fake crickets? Biodome? Nope, Virtual reality? No, sir.  Toxicity, okay, but then why is everyone else alive?

  6. Just watched this episode and I must say I felt for Craig a bit -- dude's had a bad couple of (tv) weeks.

Up until now, I found Shep to be charming, exceptionally well-mannered (when it counts) and overall very likeable, but after this epi he seemed like a snob, too, with his comments like, (and I am paraphrasing because I have a memory like a sieve) "He doesn't have a clue how to behave."  It seemed a li'l "Us and them" to me.

  7. I'd also like to call bullshit on Claudia and her offense at the fact that Nene called her a half breed.  Fine, be offended, but spare me the "Maybe you should think about those other people you know personally who are mixed race when you use that type of language."  *hair flip*

    Really?

Claudia, honey, were you thinking about all your friends when you made your teeth comments?  Hmmmmmm?

And I'm comfortable sitting at the table of 1 with Nene's breakdown.  I thought it was real and I felt bad for her.  In my experience, the people who are the biggest assholes are those who have been the most hurt in their lives.  Does it excuse their behavior?  Absolutely not.  But I'm not a person who will get down in the dirt with them and sink to that level.  Treat someone with kindness and love and then you don't have to use someone else's behavior to justify your own.

Great post, and may I join you?

NeNe's reaction looked very real to me; whatever she was going though was deeply painful. The most sensitive, deeply wounded people often use brashness and bravado as their armour. It's brittle though, and shatters easily. (I sound like Greg, sheesh) and I think that's what we saw there. Sometimes, too, people with difficult pasts get kind of emotionally stuck at the age their trauma occurred, they do not develop emotional maturity. And I do think we see that in NeNe.

I found the episode quite moving.

  8. Didn't she also look a decade or so older, too?

Now that you mention it, I remember thinking that her face looked like it had the old soft focus lens on in the flashback. So yes, she does look older in Wayward Pines.

Color me nerdy, but I am liking this show a lot.  Also, whoever said that Matt Dillon (the god of my teenage idolatry) looks like a lurching Frankenstein was spot on.

  9. He answered that yes, all his teeth are capped due to a football game accident when he was at UGA. I guess his dentist is living large.

Someone actually asked about his teeth? I am shaking my head at that one.

Like a curmudgeonly old Auntie, I just gotta say...some people's manners. Motherfucking tsk!

  10. Well, I don't know if this is anything or not, but when Burke remembers his affair with Kate, her hair is very short, and now it's past shoulder-length, which, at sixth inches of growth per year (on average), would take about three years by my reckoning.  But didn't he last see her about five weeks ago?

We do not know when they ended the affair, but it seems pretty fresh for the wife and son.

Is she wearing a wig? Or is time really messed up there?
