  1. My guess is that most "authentic" people don't have the patience to go through a battery of personality tests to find a mate, unless they are desperate or bored. I notice that Pepper left Ryan D off her list of men who could use some compassion. Jessica engaged in physical violence (breaking objects) and Ryan D did not, yet Ryan D is being labelled an abuser. By breaking objects and by manipulating and goading Ryan D, Jessica revealed that she has a potentially abusive personality. He generally responded by shutting down and leaving, which is more avoidant than abusive. Overall, Pepper's comments (these and earlier) support the theory that Davina was sandbagged because she blamed the "experts" for pairing her with Sean. It's unfortunate that the fans are blaming the men more than the "experts". I agree that the men deserve some compassion since they didn't pick themselves to be on MAFS,
  2. A brilliant one, no less! ;) By all appearances, there is something fishy about Sean's job, just as there was/is with Ryan D's job (which he quit before the show aired). MAFS did minimal-to-no background checks on the men, seeing as they would have easily uncovered the lies by confirming the information on Sean and Ryan D's initial applications (of course, the men were recruited so maybe this is why the background checks were minimal). Even with Ryan R...no successful real estate agent would live in his mother's basement. Appearances are everything in real estate, and I can't imagine choosing an agent who lived in his mother's basement. Hahaha So true! Knowing that Sean got on the show because of Doug, it is likely that there are additional social contacts between that group and the MAFS producers. If that is the case, Cilona may have chosen to support Sean for selfish/career-oriented reasons, rather than objective/rational reasons. I doubt Cilona is clueless enough to have been taken in by Sean's persona despite all the red flags and signs of dishonesty. Sean isn't that handsome, and he's certainly not that charming. Davina got railroaded by the show, and she is reacting to that as best she can with the help of her best friend who got drawn into the MAFS mess along with her. Sean is not going to get any more reality TV gigs as a result of his performance on MAFS. As sleekandchic said earlier, Sean's decision to create a wussy, anxiety-filled persona ruined his chances at getting on a better reality show.
  3. Sean has stated that his goal was to be on a reality show such as Survivor or The Amazing Race. Continuing this social media drama will not help that goal. If you think he is incapable of assessing his social media options pragmatically, I guess that explains why you do not consider him to be the liar and manipulator he came across as on television. Davina came across as authentic but flawed. Sean came across as inauthentic and manipulative. We still don't know who Sean really is because he spent the whole time trying to manipulate Davina, the crew and finally (and most importantly to him) the audience. You hear it in how he talks and the words he choses. If you don't believe me, get an experienced law enforcement interviewer to assess the show for you.
  4. Sean is keeping a low profile on social media hoping it will all blow over without ruining his chances of getting on another reality show. As I see it, a half-decent casting director would have passed on Sean as a viable candidate for MAFS. A number of viewers found him phony and empty at best, sociopathic or psychotic at worst. Casting directors generally want characters who will seem genuine and who will give them authentic emotional reactions to work with. Sean claimed anxiety without showing it, and his speech seemed very contrived...definitely not highlight reel material.
  5. Sean's a phony manipulator, and while he may be able to fool some people, he didn't fool the majority of viewers. Sean went quiet on social media when he started to get some negativity, and he has now gone even quieter hoping it will all fade away and he will still be able to get onto another reality show.
  6. The DSM includes a wide range of psychiatric and psychological issues or conditions, not only those which can be considered "illnesses". Axis I covers conditions that are conventionally considered "mental illnesses" for which drugs or intensive therapy are prescribed. Axis II covers personality disorders and intellectual disabilities, and Axis III covers medical/physical disorders that result in altered psychological states. Regardless, we have not had enough exposure to Sean to diagnose him with anything, but his actions and reaction are certainly abnormal, and he appears to use malingering to get his way.
  7. Sociopathy is not a mental illness; it's a personality disorder. Sociopaths quite often pass as normal (https://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/201305/confessions-sociopath). I hope the linked article helps provide you with a better understanding of the difference between a sociopath and a normal person. I think Sean's anxiety is feigned, just like that time he came home "sick" from work. He pretends to be anxious or sick (or asleep, like on New Years) to get out of doing things he doesn't want to do.
  8. Assuming Davina came to the same conclusion (that Sean is a manipulative sociopath who was not legitimately looking for marriage), it would have been hard for her to continue the charade, and she would have every reason to feel bitter that she had been paired with someone like that. Also, what kind of employer would promote an employee halfway through filming a reality television show? It's just not credible. If Dr. Cilona was basing his comments about Sean getting a promotion, on Sean's filmed comments about getting a promotion, Sean loses even more credibility on the topic. He may well end up fired from his job as a result of this series, unless he can convince his employer that he felt "pressured" and "anxious" and used the promotion as a little white lie to get himself off the hook. Davina said the producers specifically asked Sean whether he would relocate to Manhattan when the producers decided the two were a match. That is quite specific. For many viewers, Sean's quirks remind us of a sociopath or two we have dealt with, and once you can recognize one, you can recognize them all. There are certain subtleties in how sociopaths interact and express themselves that reveal their emotional expressions as mimicry (as opposed to genuine self-expression). Sean is waving a huge red flag in that department.
  9. He wants to come across like a Lothario, which is puzzling considering that he signed up for "Marriage at First Sight". I wonder how he will move on after he does not get cast for more mainstream reality shows. I can picture him seducing women by sharing his TV experience as a "victim". By this point in the series, she knew full well that he was faking to get out of the activity he didn't want to participate in. No one who had experienced a partner having a miscarriage would talk about it the way Sean did. He made up the whole story for attention, and he used it in the TV series because he thought it would elicit sympathy from the viewership. He really is that out of touch with reality.
  10. Sean Varricchio is riding a classic wave of narcissistic destruction. Dr. Cilona is continuing to compromise his professional reputation because he bought into Sean's web of lies, and he can't reconcile the fact that he got played. Davina is recovering from 6 weeks of being emotionally manipulated by someone she knew wasn't on the up and up, but couldn't quite place because she had never dealt with someone like that before. Sean quickly assessed that Davina was too intelligent for him to fool for the long-term, and he checked out early since it was too risky for his ego. This is textbook narcissism. Dr. Cilona is just as much a victim as Davina. He will hopefully realize this once Sean's reality-defying lies reach a level he can no longer deny.
