The Nets nearly had a 50 point lead, but garbage time lead to a 39-point victory. Sure Milwaukee finally gets to go back home, but there is no optimism that they can regroup well enough to regain hope that they'll win this series. Personally, say the Nets lose on the road. If they're both close losses, there really isn't any reason to rush Harden back. If James can return, maybe do it on a limited basis. That way, Brooklyn will be more than ready to win out

And the Bucks took that energy of the Nets losing James Harden and promptly bricked every 3 and FT attempt and lost the game. And the Nets did the exact opposite. Oddly enough, the pregame talk (not necessarily TNT but other places) basically mentioned Griffin as a glorified role player. Not the dominating force he once was. Man did he show up tonight! Monday should be interesting, but beyond that, it will be. If James is week-to-week as opposed to day-to-day then I'll have an idea of how dominant Brooklyn can be off of a road game. Tonight's pummeling following the loss of a key player in-game was a tad bit surprising, but the outright win was not. No Harden, no problem it seemed (at least in Game One)!

It's super early in the series, but it's looking like the Bucks first game vs the Nets with their Big 3 intact lasted the most of 43 seconds

To add insult to injury off of Los Angeles' exit, future 2021 NBA Champions will totally humiliate the Suns, whether the game is played in Brooklyn or not. I don't think Phoenix will make it out of the West though. Say what you will about Lebron, and he's a grown man that can or should be able to deal with the heat of losing in the first round. I too felt bad for AD. No way the Lakers were getting out anyway, but through no fault of his own things just sucked this year. I guess you can say they were forced to punt to 2021-2022. No sense wrecking yourself in a first round series to where you're hampered the following year. Portland? Meh. Dame's contract situation is unknown to me, but the league is not built for him to win out throughout the postseason in his current spot. He might do enough to get into the HOF, but if he wants to get crowned, he'll need a different scene. Not sure anyone wants to build a super team in Oregon, but that's just my opinion

SAS is a Knicks fan (he was bouncing up and down with joy after game 2) so I'm sure he's quite disgusted right now even without considering the LA teams. And talk about home court disadvantage. Aren't you supposed to win your home games? Well, to be fair, the best teams, the greatest dynasties, and the championship franchises find ways to win on the road. I haven't checked (recently) but I can't remember a time where a former champion in the NBA (and even in MLB & the NHL) won the title by winning only their home games, while going winless on the road. Of course in the NFL it's one and done with a neutral field being the site of the title game (except this past year, though the eventual champion won three road games to get there). I also haven't checked to see how long a series went in any best-of where the road teams kept winning or won all 7 seven games. What's happening with LA and Dallas is pretty much what occurred between Houston and Phoenix 27 years prior. Eventually home court was defended. That being said, a team should win at home more often than not. To lose all your home games is such a bad look. As for New York, they've been a mess for quite a while, but barring someone sabotaging things, they're on track to improve. At least to the point where they win at MSG more often than not

I think it could go both ways. I agree that hiring an African-American head coach could result in more trust from the black athletes within the NBA. OTOH, it could be a tough task if he doesn't succeed. The good thing about it is that Boston was pretty successful a decade and a half ago, so, with the right person, it might work again. However, the standards are much higher there as opposed to most other places. It would be nice as well if they hired a woman. I heard some speculation that they might go that route. Someone like Kara Lawson would be a great hire to succeed Brad Stevens. I might not bet on that right now, but I don't plan on betting against it either. What a story that would be if it became official!

    College Basketball

End of an Era. I'll be dead before anyone comes close to matching Coach K's tenure at Duke. Really anywhere else in terms of the modern era. I don't see anyone in the future emulating such a long run. Similar to college football, the days of someone being the face of a school or one university for decades, or headed toward a half century are over and done with Speaking of which, I don't think I ever thought Jimmy B would be the last one standing. I guess he's looking to hit the record, which could correspond to the 50th anniversary of his debut. In addition to whatever else, if he's healthy and fit enough to make it to 2026 at Syracuse, it could happen

I think that's an awful idea. They are athletes, not savages. That's fair enough. I was talking about that as an act of self-defense, not athletes turning into murderers. If you still think that's an awful idea, then that's your opinion. I am not trying to promote violence xaxat. I just mentioned a solution to try to control something that's gotten out of hand. While there's no history of it in the NBA, I wish I could tell you that there have been no injuries or fatalities in any event (sports or concerts) courtesy of a troubled patron and at the expense of the star of an event. Maybe the media should stick to covering the game and not the antics of fans that are not apart of the game. That, and the athletes should take a higher ground and keep quiet. Whatever they're doing isn't working; I tune into a particular event to watch that event. I'm not watching to learn about the dumb stuff and the reaction of it. Whatever the league has done so far is pretty good, but it is not working

The Knicks asked Trey Young if he wanted to press charges. He declined. The league is on board with legal sanctions. And as for the Celtics fan, looks like they'll be moving ahead with charges against him. Not sure whether it'll help end this nonsense, but it's a start. At least it would help curb some of the bad behavior. It just seems to be something every game now, I swear. I wonder if the NBA will have to put stricter measures in place for fans or make access to the players and court harder during games? I worry that someone completely crazy will actually attack and hurt a player during a game at some point. In addition to legal action, another way to minimize such bad behavior is to have one of their stars pummel the hell out of some antagonist. If anyone's getting hurt bigtime it's a civilian. Short of being trained in Martial Arts it's not going to go well for any fan against a professional athlete (several of whom are trained in Martial Arts themselves, which would completely offset whatever skills some moron might but probably doesn't have). The strength in numbers doesn't help a fan, either. Point made nonetheless, emma. Whether it's a player or a fan, something unfortunate would happen. To elaborate, the league would side with the player, but they would reluctantly suspend said player if they actually kicked someone's ass more than what would be necessary and more than what could be considered self-defense. As of late, it looks like the police & security (as well as players and coaches nearby) have been very quick and good at stopping anything that got out of hand

I'm not talking About arrests punishment. I'm talking about everyone on the pistons and the organization pretty much getting off without punishment. There were fans attacking the other pacers players just trying to get off the court. And not just the idiot who approached Jermaine oneal. They were lucky none of the pacers players were hurt The pistons though got out of it with almost nothing. Some of the pacers players got a one game suspension just for defending themselves to idiot fans trying to get off the court. Oh I see. Yeah that is messed up. It isn't a shocker for a couple of reasons: Detroit was in the midst of their rather long championship era that lasted several years. They were defending champions who ended up being one win away from a repeat (in a series where home court was very, very important it appeared). David Stern's picture would appear in a dictionary next to maximizing agenda or perfecting one's narrative. ITA: the league basically said that it is okay for fans to mess with the stars to the highest degree, but you won't hear that from the NBA. They'll put out a stupid statement for the sole reason of looking like heroes. We'll see what the association will do to try to make piece on the day one of their players (that has a successful & legendary lawyer) decides to press charges

To be fair to the league, Ron had a significant history prior to that brawl. Maybe the punishment would've been the same, but I knew that he was done for the second all hell broke loose. I think the guys on Inside the NBA made reference to this; while they pretty much said that the league does not want another situation to happen ever again, they may be on pace for that to occur again. I don't think a repeat of the events that occurred on November 19th, 2004 will happen in the postseason, but I wouldn't bet against it despite it being the postseason. Sure all the suspects have been "banned" but meh. I didn't really give TPTB a standing ovation. It's better than nothing but it's pretty much close to nothing either, IMO

Speaking of Twitter, it featured people actually saying that "things were better" or "we were better off when the games were played without fans"

Well, emmawoodhouse basically posted the exact thing I was about to post before seeing the post prior to getting ready to post it. Not only is it unacceptable behavior, it's rather boneheaded behavior. Similar to a lot of other negative things on Planet Earth, it's a pattern. I'm not surprised at all, sadly. The reason why I called it boneheaded is that it's been a story for the past several days, and action has been made to try and stop it. Everyone from the media has voiced his and her opinions that's it's messed up. Then after that, someone ends up screwing up and going after Irving. The fact is that Kyrie may have brought the heat on himself, for other reasons not related to the main issue. However, a line was crossed there, no surprise since the Nets blew out Boston again, and hopefully they'll win to avoid another trip to the garden on Thursday

Well, there's one more game on 05/30, but what a slate of duds today as of this post. As for the Lakers, I don't think they would've won the West, let alone everything with AD. I think his loss hurts their chances of winning the series, but neither him nor LBJ were healthy. It does suck that it occurred, but it's a long postseason following a championship that occurred not too long ago (with everything pushed back). It would've been nice to see LA repeat and possibly 3-peat, but the chance of winning 3 of 4 is still there (probably need a couple more pieces though)

Rather Breaking news and very terrible news (courtesy of the Utah Jazz Twitter account). Came out of nowhere; while speculation might lean toward an unfortunate bike accident, no cause of death as of this post.

Corrected. Adam sitting out in 2020 means he doesn't have to wait as long following his announcement. Pretty much what happened with Faulk in 2006 (though that was injury-related)

I'm wondering why in the hell do we need a 3 hour show to talk about the 2021 NFL schedule. They're going to be talking about the NFL schedule pretty much every day till Week 1 arrives. Its a waste of 3 hrs & it downright sucks. Its bad enough that its 17 games now & there is no way possible that anybody will go 0-17. Frankly, its makes me sick. I'm still on my NFL summer vacation till Labor Day & this 3 hr suckfest is not worth the torture. Given the rapid rate, the 2022 Schedule will drop before the actual 2021 NFL Schedule Release Show!

Ew. There is absolutely nothing to root for here. Tampa Bay for the win! Woo hoo! No regrets, TBH; I get the hate for the Bucs, and while a college team will never beat a pro team, I would root for Notre Dame 11 times out of 10 if they ever played Dallas. To be answer your question, mojoween, about a schedule release show: $$$$$. Sorta like the NFL Draft and the combine and Free Agency; someone found a way to profit and to make it interesting (or not). It is baffling when people look forward to those more than they would an NBA, NHL, or both an MLB regular season & playoff game

The real path to a Super Bowl (and eventually a win there) is a complete team. Obviously both can work while both have their pros and cons. With a statue of a QB, he won't get hurt but man, he's dead if the rest of the team can't get the job done. Whereas a mobile QB has a better chance of escape. Doesn't always work, especially in the pros, but it's a nice asset. The stronger the O-Line and/or the level of one's run game is important, period. So is a solid defense to help take the pressure, load, and stress off of the QB

I think the Ravens went ahead of the Steelers to "steal" the one guy they had their sights set on in 2015. Baltimore didn't have a better record over Pittsburgh, but posted a 2-1 record over them in 2014, including a postseason win at Heinz Field. Looks like Chicago might get it right this time around. Especially given the Green Bay news. The Bears will have to face the Browns and Ravens but avoid Tampa for 2021

I guess the only way this gets topped is for a True NWO move within the Draft. In other words, Urban (maybe Trent) trade their first pick to New England in exchange for a 4th round pick and a 2022 5th round pick. Meyer quits on Friday, joins the Patriots as an offensive assistant, and Baalke gets killed post-Draft. That is totally not happening (unless it does). To be honest, I root for the totally out there stuff that can't even be scripted for film or television

Nothing may happen for San Francisco as it relates to obtaining Aaron Rodgers, but I think I'd be surprised if he returns to the Packers for 2021. On a related note, it would be sorta dumb if the Niners traded their pick to get Green Bay's number 12
