If this show is not picked up for a 3rd season...maybe it should be offered to the BBC and they could do a spin-off and call it.........(wait for it) "Downton Abbies" ??

I would so watch this!!  And instead of howling at each other,  they speak with British accents!  Pure awesomeness!!

  2. Ugh, I'm so glad this show is coming to an end.  Angela freaks out because Jane is going undercover in a jail for less than 48 hours?! Why doesn't she freak out EVERY TIME Jane goes out in the field?? That is far more dangerous in my opinion.  Then during her meltdown, Angela blames Jane for her lack of relationships?? Umm no, Ang, that was all you and your stupid decision.

I liked the Nina scenes.  I wish there were more.

Jane got a job offer from the FBI? She taught one class,  and poorly IMO, and now she's considered so awesome at interrogations that she can teach the best of the best?!  Give me a break!

I couldn't tell if the grass in the 'after' scene was real grass or Astroturf.

It was synthetic grass.  If you're in a drought stricken area, synthetic grass and/or desert landscaping are encouraged.

Even though  I preferred the more spacious updated 2nd home,  the backyard/alley would have been a deal breaker for me.  I'm a total beach person.  In my opinion 8 miles is close to the beach,  but I would prefer 2 miles because then I could walk (I'm a walker) or bike and wouldn't have to worry about parking, etc. Throw the necessities in a backpack,  and I'm good to go.

Don't give the writers any ideas for a season 3!

The writers don't read this board.  If they did,  this show would have been/could have so much better!

Btw, the show hasn't "officially" been cancelled...

Did they convert the closet and pantry back into the 2nd bedroom? I don't remember seeing the inside of the house. Only the patio.

They were in the process of a reno. Basically EVERY room was down to the studs.

That house was very small, but I would have chosen it too because of the location.  Looking forward to seeing them on Where Are They Now.

Theo said the incubation time for the viruses was 13 hours, didn't he? It didn't look as if Kerry waited any time at all to go outside. What happened to Grizzly Adams whom Margaret let live? Did he mate with an Abby hence the baby? Why hadn't they injected those captured Abbys with the viruses and sent them out a long time ago?

I was going to ask the exact same questions!  Also, why did they need to show ID? Isn't all their info listed on their pods along with their pic? Why does WP have license plates?  Where did they get them?  Is there a DMV? Why did I waste 10 hours of my life for this sh!t? Is Jason Patric going to fire his agent?  So many questions and no answers.

  7. Since London lady really didn't give us any background,  here's what I'm thinking...the kids are step kids and they never got along.  Husband wants a divorce, but then she'll probably get half so that's out of the question.  So...instead of becoming an episode of Dateline, husband "encourages" wife to buy a house in London because she's always wanted to live there.  Now she can sip her afternoon tea in her overpriced, bland, IKEA decorated apartment while her husband lives happily ever after with his new girlfriend and kids.

  8. Fresno:  I thought it was odd that the corrections officer was scared to go down the stairs.  I would think in his line of work, he's seen things scarier than a set of stairs that lead to a water heater.

  9. I rarely watch HHI, but I agree with everyone else about the London lady.  She was odd. Her sister seemed cool though.  I know London is expensive, but 3.7mil for a very ordinary apt?? I can't believe there wasn't anything else on the market that was nicer! When the decorators showed up at the end,  I thought they came over to discuss decorating the place,  not to see the reveal. Lol! They did an awful job!!

With regard to monthly payments on those million dollar houses, when the Seattle Craftsman couple was shopping for a house, the product placement ad for some mortgage company showed a payment of $3,700 a month on the first house, which was the one they purchased.  There was no detail as to how much down payment would be required to reach that amount, and I don't know if the price of that house qualified for a jumbo loan.  I just happened to see that blurb when they showed the figures on their handy dandy iPad or whatever they were using.

When I visit model homes,  sometimes they have the information sheet listed with the price of the house as well the "approximate" monthly mortgage payment. All the ones I have seen are 20% down (of the base price) with a 30 yr fixed with a current lower percentage rate and it does not include taxes,  insurance or HOA fees.

It took awhile but I'm starting to get annoyed at HGTV.  I don't only watch HHs..I have HG on in the background mostly all day and I fall asleep to it at night.  Every.single.show they have either the designer/contractor or the Home Buyer/Owner say:  The kitchen is too closed in.  There are too many walls.

Then we have every single designer design the same.  Subway tile, barn doors, farm sink, gray cabinets, etc., and now the disturbing trend of no upper cabinets.

How are we supposed to get ideas for our houses? What happened to variation?  Why isn't each designer doing something different?

I used to watch HGTV All.The.Time when they actually aired different shows. (design on a dime,  divine design, designed to sell,  room by room,  yard crashers, designers challenge,  that landscaping one with the tall, dark and handsome host who would fix up the yards on the block, etc). Now everything is the EXACT same show/premise. I just watch HH and HHR. HHI only if they are in Spain or Australia.

You've got me thinking: what are the top 5 worst renos?* My thoughts:

    • Definitely the Buffalo reno with the crazy zigzag floor and reclaimed wood cabinets. I think that's the worst one of all. The next buyer is going to tear all that shit out and make a lot of "WTF were they thinking?" comments, and s/he will be right to do it.
    • The Chicago triplex, where the couple was combining the top two floors. That one was SO expensive and such a nightmare with all kinds of unforeseen issues. What work they did looked fine, but it was such a mess of a project.
    • A SoCal episode where the husband ripped out the original hardwood floors and installed cheap laminate in their place, without telling his wife he was going to do it. They also favored bright red, black, and white.
    • The SoCal episode with the concrete floor and basically no doors anywhere in the house - none on the master bedroom, bathroom, or closet, and an open kitchen/living space floor plan.
    • The Chicago flipper who renovated all the charm out of a classic bungalow, including adding a horrible second story.

    What do y'all think?

*I'm thinking of domestic renovations only, as I haven't seen enough of the international renovations to make that call.

I had to go back and reread some of my posts because I know my choices were recent.

                1. The Buffalo couple for sure!

                2. This most recent episode with the Austin couple.

                3. The LA couple and she was the fashion blogger.  Basically, the whole reno was the master bedroom/bath and HER closet with all the                      mirrors.

                4. The LA couple with the orange exterior house.  The inside was green with ugly wallpaper.

                5. The Chicago couple that did the renovation for the AirBnB.  After the reno was done, they were still living in their apt because a renter was occupying the first floor (their living quarters).

  13. Austin ep:  this one goes down as one of the top 5 worst renos! Everything about it was horrid!

Not to be a dick,  but was she "off" or something?  She dressed like an old lady (no offense to anyone), she giggled at odd things, she  talked   so    slow, and when they toured the first house with the odd master bathroom and closets, etc she only notices "all the beige"?? Plus she LOVED wallpaper!

The kitchen cabinet color was ugly and no on the open shelving - it looked too industrial compared to everything else.  The sliding "fence" door was horrible!   Again with the brass hardware! Ugh!  The eating area is small and since it looks like they expanded the living room into the formal dining room,  they won't be having many guests over for dinner.  Speaking of the living room,  they kept that same cheap crappy ceiling fan?  Really?  Instead of spending $600 on that ugly wallpaper, they should have spent $200 on a nicer fan/light fixture.

Not a fan of anything in the bathroom either.

On the positive side, they only went $3000 over budget which isn't really too bad. They could have saved $1000 eliminating the stupid fence door and wallpaper.

Also, I thought it was funny when they were making the bed,  she placed the pillow on an angle, and he changed it. Ha!

  14. I too,  like to know what these twenty somethings do for a living.  After they announce their jobs,  I fast forward to the houses; I don't care about the rest of their backstory.

I'm glad the show displays the home prices. Back in the day when the show first started,  they never mentioned the cost of the homes or the towns...and they were ALWAYS in California. That's when Suzanne Whang was on it too.

All these industrious house hunters make me tired.  Craft rooms, robot building, beer brewing, boating, hiking, biking, entertaining...

Where is the wife who says, "You know, I'm an introvert and I like to watch tv, read, and surf the internet.  I need a room away from everybody.  With a door.  That I can close.  And a comfy sofa and great reading lamp."

I'm totally that wife.  I want a room where I can spend some time alone, that's not the bathroom!   My "break room". No legos/toys allowed,  no food allowed,  no pets, children, etc allowed. No clutter. Just a comfortable couch,  a blanket, a big window,  a TV and some books.

  16. I think Australia to Paris mom was having a midlife crisis.  She mentioned a couple of times that she never left Melbourne until she was 40+. And the time she left,  they went to Paris.  She also mentioned something along the lines of "missing out".  So in my story,  I think her husband told her to go out and experience the life she thinks she missed out on,  and when she's fulfilled,  she can return home to Australia/her family.

  17. I liked the Thousand Oaks house.  It was something different with all the levels, etc.  I liked that they removed the walls, but it still had separate rooms...it just wasn't one big area.  I knew when they said they had $70k to spend that they would exceed $100k.

What I didn't like:  The two tone kitchen!!!  This trend needs to stop!  I would have had all the cabinets white. Even though it had one big window over the sink, the kitchen still seemed dark to me and the darker base cabinets didn't help.  No on the farmhouse sink...it looked out of place in that style of kitchen.

The fireplace was nice, but I would have made it double facing so you could enjoy it from the dining room too.

The master bath turned out nice, but the brass framed mirrors were ugly and didn't belong.  The floor tiles were lovely, however, I would NEVER get a tile that was so delicate, let alone put it on the floor.

  18. Ugh, this show... I have such a love/hate relationship with it!

I agree about Drew and his husband fostering (adopting) the CF girl.

The machine wasn't working to help the FOP guy, first thought...unplug it and plug it back in.  I find it very hard to believe that a drug SALES rep would know how to fix the machine (unless she just unplugged it, etc). Even if it's the same company,  it's 2 completely different departments. I would have rather they called AnnaLynn McCord to have her get a hold of a tech guy. From personal experience, I have had that happen.

    Intern and Paul...NO!

Topher was funny this ep. When he found out his mom was getting busy with heart attack guy he pulled the privacy curtain ALL the way open when he left them alone in the room.  Ha! Then when TC was ribbing him out in the parking lot and Topher told him to leave him alone because he didn't have any change.

  19. LOL @ Otto's "this isn't HBO" comment!

A couple of questions: If Margaret can enter and exit through the tunnel, why can't the other abbies? How long has Theo been awake?  I thought it was like a week,  but so much has happened, it seems like months. Why does WP have a hotel?  I know Matt Dillion stayed there for a night or two in S1, but I think it's odd to build a hotel in a town where NO ONE comes to visit.

These kids don't need the creepy reproduction room to get it on...they just need a forest and the threat of an abbie on the loose to get in the mood. Hypno teacher would have been proud.

  20. I have 42" white shaker style cabinets. I remodeled my kitchen 10 years ago...I was just ahead of the trend or maybe I started it ;)  I went with white (maple) cabinets because I have a very small galley style kitchen with one small window. The original cabinets were 30" oak. The kitchen was very dark and lacked storage. So for a lighter/brighter kitchen with more storage, I went with the white taller cabinets and white appliances.  I also replaced the oak trim and baseboards with white.  I do clean the cabinets frequently though.  I have 2 young children and a husband who works in construction (and around the house on his days off) so the areas around the hardware tend to look dingy/grimey if I don't clean them.

  21. This ep was meh for me.

The circles's personal questions were so funny.  Susan Lucci was great...as always.

Adrian was great too. The reverend is mysterious. I look forward to his story.

Is the hairdresser Kyle's brother too? Otherwise,  how would he get in the circle, let alone use the e-meter?

I could look at Jesse all day.

  22. The Chicago couple didn't bother me. They did go $15k over budget. I know a lot of that was the unexpected plumbing and leveling problems. But, then I would think you wouldn't spend $900 on some broken down pallets to hang on the wall or as the designer called them "reclaimed wood." And why did their subway tile cost $1700?? Wasn't it just used in the kitchen for a backsplash?

I liked the kitchen, but it seemed very cramped and the farmhouse sink looked out of place.

What the hell?  The other day I was watching this and they had Beachfront Bargain Hunting RENOVATIONS!!!!  I had to look twice when the episode didn't end with the reveal.

I watched an episode tonight that was a TX couple.  I ff'd through most of it.  They replaced the white kitchen cabinets with WHITE kitchen cabinets and installed concrete countertops. I like concrete floors/counters, but these looked awful! They didn't look new or polished or nice; they actually looked scratched and worn out. I don't know if that was the "look" they were going for,  but they looked pretty bad.

  24. Jordan doesn't really have a storyline and she really is the weakest link.  She should pull a "Ragosa" and not come back.  Then let's get Jennifer Beals full time to take her place!!

How come on these medical shows, when patients complain about not being able to pay,  the  dr always comes through with a solution? It's either free or a donation or covered by such and such . It's never a payment plan of a $100 a month for the rest of their lives.
