I'm kind of thinking that.....if Eloise reaches out to Marina and develops a friendship with her....as a way to get back at Pen...maybe thats how she gets to know Sir Phillip? and if/when Marina passes...she starts talking to Sir Phillip? I haven't read past the first book yet....haven't gotten them....just speculating based on spoilers I've heard.

    Spoiler

IIRC, She hears of Marina's passing and writes condolences from the family though they don't know she's doing it. She feels bad that no one has reached out and they become pen pals.

  2. I agree LadyChaos. Penelope has been in a tough spot from beginning of season one. Everyone but Eloise ignores her, and she probably wouldn't mind (she's pretty much left to her own devices and that gives her freedom), but it hurts when Colin does. She's been crushing on him for years and years. I liked her and the modiste collaborating. I'm not saying what she did was right, but I understand why. Eloise needs to remember she's a valued and loved member of her rich family and Pen, not so much.

I'm mad that Marina doesn't appreciate her adorkable husband.

    Spoiler

If they follow the books, Eloise marries him after Marina dies.

  4. Starting ep 5. Edwina and Antony were never engaged. Her heart actually belonged to an academic she met during the season, IIRC. She was just going along with what everyone wanted. In this era, you can't break off an engagement without ruining the lady's reputation, and it would be insane for him to wind up with the sister. Don't remember the Prudence storyline. Need to reread.

  5. I think if you were ever in the modeling world whether as a high fashion model or a glamour model (AKA the PB models), they already are starting with good bones (literally and figuratively) and are less likely to 'let themselves go'. Look at the 80s and 90s supermodels and the 90s Playmates. They all still look amazing. I'm sure they are all very into exercise and genetics are a factor. And throw in some Botox and fillers.

Did we ever get a resolution to the subplot re who wrote the letter to Agnes about Bannister?  We saw the two butlers nod at each other at the end, but was that a sign of respect or muted hostility?

    It seemed like respect.

  7. Finished the latest ep. Still trying to process it all. I'm glad these women have found each other and can be a support group. I would love to know more of what happened to Sondra. Reading between the lines, I'm guessing that she became an addict and lost custody of her children and may not have a relationship to them to this day.

I do wonder what would have happened to Dorothy Stratton if she lived. Would she have had a big acting career? She was onto a good start being cast in the Peter Bogdanovich movie.

  8. I'm excited to see more Gladys out and about next season, and more Larry. I liked Gladys's fire when she said she was done being told what to do and her having fun with her new bestie. And she deserves better than Oscar.

Bridgerton season two comes out soon so that will be my next dose of costume and tiara eye candy.

My heart breaks for Peggy and Dorothy. Do we know how old her son is? I'm puzzled as to her father's reasoning of what he did. She was a married woman who had a baby. There's nothing shameful in that.

I hope there is less of Foghorn Leghorn, er, MacAllister next season.

Someone mentioned wishing that Pumpkin would raise his leg and pee on Raikes. Hee! Can he also take a poop in his hat?

I know I’m late to the party, but I heard something in the background in the last library scene that made me laugh.

”sir, were not a pawn shop. We don’t negotiate late fees.”

I don’t know about California, but I live in Omaha NE (not LA but not tiny by any means), and you can absolutely negotiate your late fees. It’s almost like the librarians hate collecting them.

I used to work in a library and fees are a pain to deal with. Many times I'd wipe them out or give people an extra renewal if the book wasn't on hold for someone else.
