  1. Emergency! 50th Anniversary Celebration UPDATE:

As of December 22nd (yesterday, as I write this), the LA County Fire Museum regrets to announce that the activities surrounding the show’s 50th Anniversary celebration have to be postponed at this time, due to circumstances beyond their control. They say they are currently evaluating the situation and working on a new date, which will be announced when it’s chosen.

  2. The LA County Fire Museum’s Planning a multi-day celebration in January Marking the 50th Anniversary of the Show’s Premiere

Among the activities is an evening with Randy & Kevin, talking about the show & doing a Q&A. It might include the other actors who made up Station 51, because there’s a reference to a cast Q&A sometime, but so far Randy & Kevin are the only cast scheduled to appear. I doubt Robert Fuller will attend; he retired from acting after the show & took up ranching in Texas, I’ve read, plus I think he’s in his 80’s now. He’s the only surviving actor, that I know of, whose character was on staff at Rampart. Maybe the actor who played Dr. Morton’s still around. Otherwise, the evening with the cast will be the same as the evening with Randy & Kevin.

Which religions are you thinking of?

I guess, like, your more conservative ones, like Roman Catholic—there was a big legal thing here, a few years ago, where a local/area Catholic school fired a teacher for using IVF to at least try to get pregnant (I can’t remember if she did or not); she sued the Diocese over it. I think she won but I can’t remember that for sure either.

Isn't that against God's will? To conceive with medical intervention?

I’m not sure about conceiving, though I might’ve heard something, at 1 time, about stuff like IVF being frowned upon, which may have subsequently been reversed, but I’m pretty sure artificial birth control is frowned on by many/most religions.

  5. If Josh & Anna had a TV show of their own, it would now be titled 7 Kids & No More Counting Necessary. I’ll bet she’s happy she won’t have to be his brood mare (I think that’s the term I want) anymore, & certain overworked parts of her body will finally get a rest. Let’s just hope they didn’t think about putting some stuff on ice somewhere so Anna could keep getting pregnant with his kids without Josh actually being there to make his contribution. I think at least some of the married daughters might now be worldly enough to know about things like that, but I think the (older) kids still in Arkansas probably aren’t. I don’t think they’re that intelligent & what they really know about the world outside the family compound is probably heavily censored.

This interesting video from Variety popped up in one of my feeds today. It's from June 25th, but I hadn't seen it before, so I thought I'd link it here. It's an interview with Thomas Schlamme about how the HBO Max When We All Vote reunion special came together. Length: 15:07.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, it’s probably actually an interview, but I think of it as more of a talk since we don’t hear the interviewer asking the questions. Who knows? Maybe he’s answering questions off of a cue card. By the way, Thomas Schlamme’s wife is Oscar-winning actress Christine Lahti, who most recently had a multi-season recurring role as Doris McGarrett, the long-believed dead, but still alive CIA operative mother of Navy SEAL LtCdr Steve McGarrett, Head of the Five-0 Task Force, on the recently-ended, decade-long CBS reboot of Hawaii Five-0. She won the Oscar for directing the Best Short Subject, I think it was. I also forget the title & year.

  7. Regarding the passing of Arlene Dahl: She had her own line of beauty products. She also was the mother of actor Lorenzo Lamas, from her marriage to the late actor/director Fernando Lamas. Lorenzo is best known from the CBS series Falcon Crest. That had a long run following Dallas on Friday nights. He then starred in a successful syndicated series, which I think was called Renegade. As far as I know, he seems to have fallen into obscurity since that series ended.

  8. I wonder if William Shatner sent any kind of condolences to the family of the guy who was on the outer space flight with him, or if he was the typically assholic person most people claim? I mean, I’m pretty sure the people on the flight were together for some kind of preflight training & they didn’t all just meet up wherever on the day, ride out to the capsule, do the flight & post flight stuff, then go their separate ways, maybe never to be in contact again.

  9. From NBC News: Glen de Vries, William Shatner Crew Mate on Space Flight, Killed in Small Plane Crash in New Jersey

He was 49. The other man besides de Vries on the plane was also killed. De Vries was the co-founder of Medidata Solutions, a software company which specializes in management of electronic data from clinical trials. He also served as a trustee for Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

  10. Could be a “surfer” thing. More likely it helped disguise the fact Scott’s hair was already thinning out at an early age (If I remember, Scott & Alex were only 34 when the show actually premiered—& so about a year younger when the Pilot filmed; mid-30s is an early age to begin going bald). If you look at a bunch of the scenes where Danny’s hair got wet during a Five-0 op of some kind, the front of his hairline wasn’t that great for a guy his age.

  11. From PeopleAnne Burrell's Wedding Photos: See All the Details from Her 'Fairytale' Fall Day

Chef Anne Burrell can regularly be seen on the Food Network, either judging on other chefs’ shows or as 1 of 2 hosts of The Worst Cooks in America & the show’s celebrity version, where she leads a team of either civilians or celebrities who allegedly don’t know how to cook, against another team with the same issue & led by another celebrity chef/Food Network host, down the road to cooking a 3-course meal for 3 “culinary experts”. The finalist from the team whose meal is judged the best wins a cash prize; the cash prize won by the celebrity is donated to his/her favorite charity.

As far as her recent marriage, some to many might find it unusual she married a man. Back in 2012, she announced her engagement to another female chef—so many must’ve assumed she was a lesbian. Then, in 2018, she began dating the man she eventually married in the ceremony depicted above; they got engaged while quarantining with her family last year & recently married in the ceremony depicted above.

  12. Well, a sort of high profile celebrity’s “Say Yes to the Dress”-connected marriage has gone bust, apparently, with the divorce announced exactly 3 years, to the day, of the wedding. The unhappy couple is… Iron Chef Cat Cora & her now-estranged wife, producer Nicole Erlich.

The ironic thing is, their SYTTD episode, where they shopped together, but separately, so neither would see the other’s dress before the wedding, with their own separate entourages who voted on the possible gowns, & acted like schoolgirls (or something), proclaiming through the closed doors to each of their dressing rooms that it was agony for them to be apart long enough to choose their dresses, was on TLC earlier this morning. And since the wedding they’ve proclaimed nothing but being the happiest they’ve ever been, & finding their dream life partner, in the other. Ms. Ehrlich filed this divorce; I think Cat Cora filed to end her first, 17-year plus marriage, from which she shares four sons with her first wife, Jennifer, along with a lot of legal actions claiming Jennifer is trying to legally damage Cat’s personal & professional reputation.

I would love if Barry Manilow was onstage to honor Bette as he was her piano player back in the beginning.

You’re not the only fan around these parts who’s hoping for that—& that we’ll see him get his own KCH, hopefully next year. That’s where my last screen name partly comes from (the E is for Rob Lowe…LOL). They better at least invite him to participate; then it’s his choice if he declines (after all these years, they may feel like conjoined twins sometimes (you can’t think of 1 without the other).

Really at times I wonder why Danny could just say no to Steve over riding in his car? Sometimes Steve needed a taste of his own medicine.

Danny COULDN’T say no to Steve because Steve was his boss (& eventually his best friend). He also couldn’t say no because he had what became 2 children he had to pay child support for, who had become used to living a certain lifestyle, thanks to the choice his ex-, Rachel, made for a second husband—he bought them anything;  especially out of Danny’s bank account & credit card limits. Danny felt he had to compete or risk losing both kids to rich stepfather Stan. Then, there were the remaining hospital, doctor, & transplant-related bills Danny had to cover once Rachel backtracked on her lie about Charlie’s paternity & Danny was the only donor for the bone marrow transplant to hopefully cure Charlie’s HLH. Nothing major medical, like that, is cheap & insurance doesn’t cover a lot. Danny would have to chip in with Rachel on Charlie’s medical bills, or pay what insurance didn’t in full, per his & Rachel’s divorce agreement. Same goes with the bills from Gracie’s medical/surgical/hospital/possibly rehab bills related to the car accident where she got the brain injury.

I also wonder what happened with him and George Eads on MacGyver.

I remember reading, when George Eads’ departure from MacGyver came up, it was said he had a young daughter living elsewhere with her mother (the show shot in Atlanta, presumably the daughter lives in LA) he felt he wasn’t getting enough time with his daughter while filming. Perhaps this is how Scott’s unique contract arrangement came about. Judging by the initial reaction, the bosses & CBS at least had to know the show wouldn’t last as long without the “McDanno” banter, chemistry, etc., than with. So, before Scott apparently REALLY started bitching about working conditions & wanting out, they did the deal allowing Scott to miss certain eps to spend time with his family. So I’m assuming that that situation & the Eads’ situation may have been similar.

To help us track down the underlying cause for the issue you're experiencing, it'd be super helpful if you would all confirm that you have updated your bookmarked urls for the site since the last update, or if you haven't, please do that and confirm in here. Thanks.

I was so disappointed - my cable picked last night to act up so when I sat down to watch the show that I had so carefully PVR'd it was mostly pixillated.  Off to google to see if it's on the Internet somewhere!

It’s streaming on CBS.com & Paramount Plus (formerly CBS All Access). Here’s the CBS.com link (I’m positive it should be completely free on this site):

  18. Hi!

I’m still unable to read/post on the forums using my preferred device. Sometimes I can get the The Shows/My Shows page, but clicking links takes me NOWHERE. Sometimes I can’t get that page. I either get a 504 notice from the board OR Safari says the server stopped responding. As you know, this has been going on since the last update in mid-April.

I’m posting again to let you know I DID manage to read & post on the forums today by going to Primetimer’s Facebook page, using the Facebook browser, clicking the website link there, then clicking the Forums link when I got to the website. This has now worked for me twice; failed for me at least once. I just wanted you to know that, if you saw I had successful access today, my access issues still ARE NOT resolved; I remain UNABLE to get to the Forums through the browser built in to my device. That device is: iPhone 8+ (8 Plus); iOS 14.5.1 (there’s a 14.5.2, but I haven’t downloaded or installed it yet); Browser: Safari Version built into iPhone 8+ (Unknown Version).

That is assuming she chose to change her name at marriage. It's not automatic.

No, it’s not. A Communications professor I had in college was married but used her maiden name professionally. A recent example in the celebrity world involves Australian wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter”, Steve Irwin. She married her longtime, American-born, partner, former professional wakeboarder Chandler Powell on March 25, 2020 (their daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, was born this year, on their first wedding anniversary) & kept her last name of Irwin, which Chandler apparently completely understood the reasons for.

That's sad.  I only "know" him from Designing Women and a couple of TV movies, but I've only ever heard great things about Jean Smart, so I figure if she married him he's a nice guy.  Their son is grown, but their daughter is just barely a teenager.  I feel sorry for all of them, and everyone else who loved him, but that's a particularly rough age to lose a parent.

The son is the biological child of Ms. Smart & Mr. Gililand; the daughter is adopted, hence the age difference. Ms. Smart is a diabetic; her pregnancy with their son was a rather problematic 1 because of it, I remember reading years ago, & she was advised not to get pregnant again. When their son got older, they pursued adoption to have another child. I think she was adopted from China.
