  1. Used to be a big fan of the show but stopped watching in early June ... lurk here occasionally to see if I ought to pick it up again - doesnt seem as though there's much going on to justify it... correct?
  2. oh right I did see the Lucky episodes in mid July and remember that. the scenes with he and Luke were pretty great.... I guess I mercifully forgot about the Jake stuff and Nik telling him about Jason. Was hoping that Patrick would have found out and kept the truth from Sam in order to hold on to her.
  3. Interesting that you bring that up... Ryan as AMCs Sonny was one of the things that turned me off as a viewer after being a loyal every day viewer since pretty much day 1. That and everyone clamoring that "Babe is Love". I left and didn't go back until Broderick was writing the final months (which were pretty good all in all). But back to GH - who now knows that Jake is Jason? Liz, Nick, Laura, Greenlee... anyone else find out since I stopped watching in June?
  4. Haven't watched in months either, but I like coming here to read comments too. And that carbon monoxide comment IS brilliant... although is depresses me that apparently after several more months, Sam and Patrick have even less chemistry than they did this spring (which is really saying something, all things considered).
  5. Since that was the "Baby Switch" era which was followed by the "Babe Is Love" era, that is feint praise.
  6. It would have been much easier to forgive her later on if (at least part of) Liz's motivation from keeping Jason in the dark was to prevent him from returning to the mob life (and being torn that she was keeping him away from Sam and Danny).
  7. but, haven't you heard? Sonny is love! All we need is Stuart Chandler to make a cameo on the show to voice it.
  8. I don't see ever watching this show again. Sad to say, nothing I've read on these boards makes me want to actually watch an episode, especially if they are undoing Michael Quartermaine. RIP GH
  9. Reading through the comments here - seems like there's no compelling reason to get off the barge and see the actual show. Do the people who write this know that terrible show = no viewers = they are out of a job? Sonny shot? I do not care. I do not care ATALL <wink>
  10. I always find it interesting how a new writing team chooses which stories to continue or to conclude (or just completely drop). For Nathan, I don't think Ron even knew so it'll just get lost until someone is looking for something to do with the character and then they'll grab it. I actually kind of like when there are some secrets that are just out there hanging. I don't think this particular one is compelling enough to warrant years and years of teasing, but in general there have been secrets that can take on a life of their own over time (like Who Killed Victor Lord? is probably the best in all of daytime).
  11. I think I hated Jason Morgan mostly because of his shoddy treatment of Alan and Monica. The Qs did note abuse him in any way as a child or as an adult and yet he treated them as though they had locked him in a closet and beat him with a wire hanger. 12. Jacob here... was on the barge from about 2005 - 2012 - whenever FrankenRon took over - would watch a half an episode every six months to a year just to see if the Sonny/Carly/Jason show would ever end. I had hope when the new team started and, for awhile, I was really supportive because I was enjoying the show as much as I had in the 90s (even though it was a different vibe). Started to really lose interest after AJ was killed but stayed with the show - and was hopeful when Michael started to get revengey on Sonny and the day Michael said "I think I'll call her AJ" was one of this shows finest moments. Even though the Fluke crap and the drugging Michael stuff, I stuck with the show... but the day that Michael gave AJ back to Sonny was the day that I was done. I watched a few days in mid July because I like Jonathan Jackson - and I'm glad that I did - the Lucky/Luke stuff was really dynamite. But then they ruined years worth of stories by retconning Jake back on to the canvas and I literally threw my hands up in the air saying "I can't take this anymore". I suppose that I'll try the show out when the new team's work starts airing but given the recent news that they are going to have even more Sonny and even more mob.... I doubt that I'll stay for long. And that's just damn depressing. I kind of wish the show would just get cancelled before what little is left of our beloved characters get wrecked even further.
  13. I think today was RCs last script... can anyone confirm? I want to start watching the show again but decided not to jump back in until his so called writing is gone. I think I read somewhere that next week is simply 'fill in' writers before the new material starts playing after Labor Day.
  14. fuck Valentini. I stopped watching this show for several YEARS (from about 2004 or 2005 only returning when Ron started... 2012?) and I stopped watching in June, returning watching for the few days that Lucky was on.. but I haven't wanted to make the effort to find it online since mid July (and Dear ABC, your idea to charge people $1.99 to watch this show on You Tube is LAUGHABLE). I think Frank Valentini should be the next one to leave the GH staff.
  15. Oh because on this show being bi polar is a disease (which causes you to murder people) and being an alcoholic is a weakness (and if you're weak, you deserve to lose your son and your life). Haven't you been watching General Hospital for the past, oh 15 years? That shit went from Guza to Ron without missing so much as a quarter beat. It must be in needlepoint on a sampler framed in the writers room of this show. feh.
  16. Is this the last week that Ron's material is on the show? I may have to start watching again so that I can reinforce my hate for his hackitude.
  17. this is the show I want to watch. what time is that show on? (moving into month 2 of not watching and came here to see if I was missing anything. Nope).
  18. Yeah if Ron really had a plan for Brad's Big Secret, he would have had Lucas propose at the Nurses Ball and Brad accept out of love but knowing that he's already married.... but I think he just did that thing that Ron does - not thinking through the stories ahead of time (but regular viewers know this already).
  19. I haven't watched the show in about a month now and I don't miss it at all. Surprising because I've been such a devoted viewer since Ron returned (I was off the show for years because I couldn't take another minute of the Bob Guza Show starring Sonny, Jason and Carly). But it doesn't sound like I'm missing much of anything interesting - which isn't something that the show's advertisers would like to hear at all. Does anyone know when Ron's last show airs? - I think I'll start a few days before that because he's sure to throw in some bitchy things ... he's been so unprofessional so far, I would only expect him to work in a few nasty cuts to the network. And then, I think I'll enjoy watching the new team (even if they prove ultimately to be awful) try to clean up the incredible mess he left behind. ETA: I should say, I was a huge fan of his writing (well, most of it anyway) on OLTL and the first year on GH was pretty great... the combination of the two shows was really great even if die hard GHers didn't like it..... and I thought that there have been moments of brilliance... but the last year and a half, man... not good. Not good at all.
  20. Have not been watching the show for about the past three weeks... since Lucky left town.. not that there was any connection to my end, but I just wasn't interested enough to continue going to ABC.com to seek it out. Anyway, grateful for this board as I can tell that I haven't really been missing anything. Although I was on a business trip in Mpls on Thursday and happened to be in my hotel room unpacking when I caught Avnise looking murderously at Silas as he left saying that he didn't love her anymore and that he was going to go tell Kiki about an affair that started about ten minutes after she and Morgan got back together (I mean, it's clear the show wants us to feel that Morgan and Kiki have been together forevuh, but it's not really been long at all.. it would have been MUCH better had Kiki kept lacing the conversations with things like "this time it's going to work, you'll see" and 'I only have eyes for you" and that kind of thing.. that would have made sense and driven up the stakes). I was like "oh, they're killing off Silas". I like how now Laura knows... I tell ya all, everyone in Port Charles will know it's Jason before he and Sam know. I hope Patrick is next because it would be the only thing he's done for months. Part of me wants to make the commitment to watch this during Ron's last days to see just how much he'll screw everyone over on his way out the door (ABC execs haven't been keeping an eye on this show for the past year, why would they start now?)..... but I don't know if I have the patience and may just catch up here once in awhile and start watching again when the new team takes over to see how much and how fast they'll do a renovation.
  21. wow, really, is that all? I don't think so. the new writers don't start until August 9...but their shows won't air for some weeks.. or did I misunderstand the timeline? well, our nightmares are almost over. We just have to get through the next few weeks. Wonder how many characters Ron can kill between now and the end of his reign? I suppose it's too much to ask that he'd clean up the stinky mess he made before he left. But I am not holding my breath lol Yes. This. That would have been the way to go. Just a silent understanding of what the past 37 years had meant to both of them. No romance, no promise of re-marriage. Just a smile. Everyone watching would have swooned and Ron would have left on a high note. But nope, we got Sonny. My favorite Luke scene is a Luke/Bobbie scene when she finds out that Luke kept the information from her that Carly was her daughter... she said something like "I will never forgive you for this - and when some time has passed and we're sitting at Thanksgiving and you're looking across the table at me, I want you to know that I may smile, but I will still hate you". It was an incredible scene and showed off both Luke and Bobbie at their best.
  22. You know, I don't like the idea of anyone losing their job, but Ron really had it coming. He really bombed at this gig and I'm surprised that he lasted as long as he did. There have been a million things that have upset me as a long time viewer, but for some reason, the Christmas show with Dr. O as Krampus really bothered me more than just the usual shit that Ron churned out. His OLTL stuff was kind of stunning in it's audacity and there were some nice bits there (turning Clint dark was very well done) but he hit a rough patch there too. The cancellation sharpened up his plotting although I know that many of us were worried that he couldn't pull that off (but he did) and the first year on GH was great... but this past year and a half to two years? not so much. And just for his asshole arrogance on Twitter alone should have gotten him sacked. When you have to explain your plots on social media, you have failed as a writer. Someone upthread said the last couple years should all be a dream. I agree.. and since the show has had such a 'dark fun house" (but without the actual fun) feeling, saying it's been a dream of Rafe sleeping on the docks after a near overdose of heroin laced coke, wouldn't be that much of a stretch. Mainstream publications would call it "Dallas Part 2" and fans would get a reset. Never going to happen, but a nice fantasy nonetheless.
  23. I really wouldn't mind that, since what we had made no sense. I have no issue if the writers actually writing Patrick as a three-dimensional character again (and Anna along with him), instead of as a chess piece on a plot board. Characters making sense again would be welcome. As long as they don't sacrifice anyone else at the altar of Jasus, the Holiest of Hitmen to ever grace PC with his divine and perfect messianic presence. This. All of the GH characters have clear motivations - family, job, love, money, etc. Establish those, wind em up and let em go and the show writes itself. You don't need to force any character into a plot - if they don't fit, don't use 'em. This is why Liz keeping the truth from Jake doesn't bother me - to me, it's perfectly in character and I can totally understand her motivations even if I don't personally agree that it's the best way to handle it! LOL :) However, Patrick not questioning Robin's disappearance? Michael suddenly giving Avery back to Sonny? Lucky keeping Nik's secret? None of that makes a lick of sense given what we've seen of these characters over time. I love it when writers say stuff like "the fans don't know what is in or out of character ... we're the writers, WE know what they'd do." ... well, no you don't. We've watched this show for decades and we can by and large recite chapter and verse of what this or that one would or wouldn't do. If you're a good writer, you can come up with stuff for everyone to do without having to alter their motivations. If you're a GREAT writer, you get to do what you want but dig in to that character and find the reason why they could do it. Sell it. Don't just tell it. :) BTW I don't know if this has been resolved yet, as I am a week behind, but it was clear to me that Nik, in his conversation with Lucky, totally knew that Jake was alive and on Cassadine island. I'm not wild about Nik's descent into the dark side, but I feel that it's not completely from out of the blue and I'm willing to go with it as the show needs a good bad guy and as long as they don't take Nik into "freezing the world" territory, I'm OK with him (although the Hayden stuff was a bit extreme, I think). Other than AJ and maybe Duke (?) I hope that the new writers have a rule about not bringing any more people back from the dead, but also a rule about not killing anyone on the canvas. Have them move out of town, fade away, whatever... but no more death for awhile!
  24. I'm still a week behind...but kinda looking forward to seeing this. It doesn't make sense since Brad asked Lucas to marry him (and not the other way around) but if Brad married Rosalie so she could get a green card (and that's what Helena and Nina have over her.. that she's in the country illegally... although wouldn't ELQ HR kind of pick up on that??) then that could be a kind of cool story. I would say that it'd be great to have Emma as a teen, but I like the actress a lot and she has great daughter energy with Patrick... I'd hate to lose that.
  25. Been catching up on ABC.com but am still a week behind. The Luke/Lucky day was incredible. From the comments it sounds like this past final week of Luke has been a dud which I'll watch eventually..... But was OVERJOYED about Ron being fired. Sorry, I realize that someone lost a job but he did this to himself - between the Twitter arrogance and the decimation and killing off of several key characters, the man deserves to be fired. And, frankly, he'll be hack writing somewhere else soon anyway... thankfully it'll be far away from here. I've not heard too many good things about the new team but am hoping it's better, at least for awhile - the honeymoon phase is always enjoyable - Ron's lasted for a year. I don't see them undoing AJ or Duke's second (third?) death but you never know - and with Ron gone, various ex cast members may be ready to sign up again. As someone who can be snarky, I'd want Blackie Parrish as played by John Stamos to perform as Blackie in a show attended by Sean Kanan, Steve Burton and all the other actors that Ron pissed off over the past few years. I'd gladly pay to see that. I guess we'll never really know what the Legion of Doom was doing in and around Port Charles the past few years.. <shrug> whatever.
