No head offices major music labels are located in Chicago. There may be divisions there, but NYC is where everything really happens. NYC also is a great location to have the feature awards shows, fashion shows, etc. Chicago offered EMPIRE and other TV series great tax incentives to film there.

Taraji was not offered EMPIRE until months after she was written off POI and almost a year after she was informed that her POI gig was ending. The timing of her exit from POI was the creator's. The POI creator of the series wanted to change the storyline, and all of the cast members knew that any of their characters could be killed off. Taraji did not know when it would happen, but she knew that it would happen before 7 seasons. She was fine with being written off because she would go back to working in films, although she's said that there are very few roles for black actresses in their 40s. With EMPIRE, now says that she happily would be on EMPIRE for 7+ seasons. However, I think that EMPIRE is more of a 5-year max series. Primetime soap operas like this crash hard between the third and fifth seasons.

The actress playing Anika is 30 years old, and Anika is supposed to be the same age. In episode two, she gloated that she was much younger than Cookie. Terrence Howard (45 years old) and Taraji P. Henson (44 years) look younger than the actor playing Anika's father, and the actor playing Jamal is 31 years old. The actor playing Andre is around 29 - 30 years old.

I doubt that is the reason. A TV series is a steady gig, and a lot of actors and actresses are juggling films and TV series. If anything, I can see both Cho and Gillan being picked for new pilots in early 2015. The marketing for SELFIE was really poor. ABC also made it a self-starting show in a rough timeslot at 8 PM on Tuesday. It was a new series with no lead-in and little promo compared to other new series. In addition, for some reason, it was not available on iTunes. A series so heavily based around the internet should have had a stronger online and social media presence. The title "Selfie" certainly did not help it either. A title like "My Fair #Selfie" or "Eliza and Henry" probably would have worked better. For someone who asked, I Googled, and there is a small amount of SELFIE fanfic on sites like fanfiction.net and ArchiveofOurOwn.org.

Episode 13, which fulfills ABC's initial order, finished filming last night / early this morning. Warner Bros. probably will release all thirteen episodes eventually on one of the streaming sites. It was idiotic of WB not to put the show on iTunes; that may have helped to increase awareness. According to Deadline and a few other Hollywood media sites, ABC stated that episode 7 will air on Tuesday, November 11, but airings of subsequent episodes are undetermined. My guess is that if next Tuesday's ep garners a 0.9+ in the 18-49 demo, ABC will air two more episodes. Holiday specials will be airing on Tuesdays in December, so do not expect to see the final four filmed episodes aired on ABC. The double ratings of 0.9 this Tuesday certainly put the final nail in the SELFIE coffin. The cast and showrunner were live tweeting the episodes in a last-ditch effort to save the series, but alas, the election coverage did not help.

John Cho and Karen Gillan met for the first time at the table reading for the pilot. They did not audition opposite each other before being cast, so it's amazing that their chemistry is so great. Henry is 39 years old - will be 40 years old in a few weeks, according to an episode press release. Eliza is around 25 - 28, I think.
