  1. Watching this show and some others, Idol for example, it does make me appreciate the talent some people have to deliver original commentary in a short time span and not sound repetitive or bland or ridiculous. I don't think that this is something very many people have and while I think the musicality (if that's the right word) of these 4 judges is clearly there the ability to convey something meaningful quickly and succinctly isn't so much in their wheelhouse as it were. But I also think it doesn't so much matter what they say. These judges aren't instructors at the Juilliard School. I suppose their main task, at least during the actual shows, is to be pleasant and supportive and keep the show moving. Presumably a little more technical advice and constructive instruction goes on behind the scenes.
  2. Wendy getting custody? Why not? It's not like there are a lot of great option for these kids. There doesn't seem to be any other family members to contest anything, not unless Tara's got parents or something who could show up and try and get Thomas. And she is Abel's biological mother and the state usually does try to keep children with a birth parent if at all possible. It's not like the state's really all that eager to put kids into foster care. Which probably wouldn't be that big of an improvement over whatever Wendy and Nero have to offer.
  3. Father Gabriel is too stupid to live. Stupid and possibly malicious even. There is no rational way to explain why he would surreptitiously leave the church, wander over to the school, hang around outside it agitating the walkers inside until they broke out and then lead them back to the church and into the church. And his explanation that he just had to see it makes no sense either. He's been there for what, a year. He's had plenty of time to go "see it" if that was so terribly important to him. I think Beth went out in as good a way as she could. And she didn't get anyone else killed.
  4. I assume there are various groups all over the place holed up and trying to eke out some kind of existence. At least I think it would be that way in a real ZA. In this show there are groups like that, and I actually like it when we're introduced to characters other than the main ones, but of course here they're always under the control of some deluded loon or homicidal psycho. Which at least helps to make the Rick group seem relatively sane by comparison. Interesting to see that the hospital has enough running water for showering and shaving and laundry. Wonder how that works. Also interesting that a character who seems normal is really just another one of those "I had no choice, I did it to survive" killer types. (Shades of Walter White having Jesse take out Gale on BB.) Kudos to Beth for figuring him out. I'm thinking maybe Carol got herself "rescued" so she could infiltrate the hospital and rescue Beth. Can't wait to see how that works out.
  5. I don't think I'm interested in Father Gabriel and whatever it is he's hiding. I guess that's a plot device to lead to something else but we've already got a few hanging out there, like if Eugene has any clue at all on how to save the world and what happened to Beth and what's with Morgan showing up at the end of last episode. Now we have the cannibals running around in the dark snatching people and maybe the guy they snatched has been bit and will that make a difference. And now Daryl and Carol have split off and are chasing after some car. I guess we'll see where all this goes. As others have said, I assume Carol was trying to leave and think it's because she's just not that comfortable in the group setting anymore. I guess a part of her feels that she's better on her own, which maybe she's not wrong about that.
  6. I know they all would have the virus already so I was thinking more about the idea that possibly eating the flesh of people who have the virus, since everyone does, turned them into complete sociopaths, which they clearly were. Tainted flesh and all that. Or turning whatever part of them hadn't already been corrupted by the rape and torture, etc. I was thinking of it in more practical terms. It seems like whatever evil creeps they run into along the way that don't get taken care of right then will pop up again and cause problems later.
  7. I would have more sympathy and understanding for the Terminus folks but for the fact that they had been actively trying to lure people to their compound with their sanctuary broadcasts and directions being placed along the tracks. Clearly it wasn't just about finding a way to survive whatever might come their way. Of course it could be that eating infected human flesh might have done something to them as well. They probably didn't know that everyone's got the virus. I think Rick had the right idea about trying to finish them off. It seems like a lesson learned from dealing with the Governor and then those thugs from the house last season, although not sure what he could have done differently at the time he ended up in the house with him. But you go to war with the army you have and his army wasn't up to the fight just then. Plus he needed to get to his clean, healthy, well-nourished infant Judith.
