  1. SUCH a good episode! The kids have never been more adorable. Both of them running up the sidewalk to trick or treat just made me smile. And Zoey's time with her dad was very sweet. And Zoey crushing on Dr. Ho.... hahaha

  2. So where was Derek this morning on the first part of GMA? He wasn't on with the other dancers in the first part and only showed up towards the end. We have house guests and it was on mute the whole time, so I don't know if anything was said.

  3. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this entire episode Loved it!  I continue to be amazed by the individual performances. They seem to get better every week.  Also loved the Whiplash-like percussion.  There is no show I look forward to watching as much as this one.  It's going to be a sad day when it's over.

  4. who the hell is voting for Carlos?

ME!!! Or at least I would have if I'd voted.:)   I know next to nothing about the guy or his wife, and don't care to know more, but I've enjoyed his dancing and he's been one of the ones who's been marked down by decree of TPTB.  I loved everything about his trio last night which I thought they all nailed, and I thought it made Nick's pale in comparison, and of course, Nick got the 10's.  That ALMOST made me pick up the phone, but I refuse to play the DWTS game anymore, so nada.  Plus, he was so much better than Alek in the dance-off.

As for Nick, I watched last night prepared to cheer for Nick.  I wanted him to do well, but that first dance was not good and I didn't feel the trio at all.  I thought he really brought in in the dance-off, however, and should have won.

  5. Bindi has mountains of Aussies who are power voting for her every week without even seeing the show. Basically, she can't lose the audience vote.
Where has this been documented?  I recall reading that the Irwin's are not exactly popular in Australia due to some kind of issues with the zoo.

I  wish someone from Australia would weigh in because that's what I've heard too, that the family and the zoo aren't highly regarded in their own country. This isn't just recent, it goes way back.

  6. Best dance of the night:  Val and Jenna

Next best dance for me was Carlos, Witney and Karina.  Really well danced with interesting and difficult choreography, with the star in full view.   IMO the best of the trios and should have had the highest score.  Good on Tom for asking Carrie Ann about her 9.  I know the judges don't actually choose how to score the dances themselves but it was still nice to see Tom bring that up.

No way Alek was better than Carlos in that dance-off.  Just no.

Can all the family members please go away.

  7. I only watch this show when a ballroom expert is on, so I enjoyed Louis.

I didn't agree with Louis saying Alexa is like Tamar. I don't have anything against Tamar personally, but I haven't seen many criticism of Alexa's performance/acting ability in her dances and I think most would agree Alexa has a warm and sweet personality....

I do agree with this.  I think he may have grouped Andy with them as well;.  Alexa does come off as sweet, so that edit is different, but personality-wise, I think these guys are all more serious and lacking the extroverted personality and bubbly effervescence of a Bindi, so that connecting with an audience will be harder for them.

I like that Louis defended Tamar in the face of the edit she's being given, saying she works harder than anyone he knows, and criticizing Julianne for her comment about lack of chemistry when the dance partners don't look at each other in the foxtrot.

My favorite Louis comment, again regarding Tamar's dance.  :  "...sometimes as pros, the question is, why would i  do a traditional ballroom dance, if that's what we have to represent,  if the judges don't fault you, if you don't, and don't compliment you if you do?.....  and Val does that".   I just like it when the ballroom style is defended.

I find that i agree the most with Kristin on this show.  I wish she would give more of her own opinion.

I also agree with their comments that Bindi needs to be given some constructive criticism. She's not perfect and she's older than Hayes, so her age shouldn't have anything to do with not wanting to criticize.

  8. I wonder if she's getting votes because viewers are turned off by the negative edit? I gave her a bunch of my votes last night, partly because of the edit and partly because she's been one of my favorite dancers since the beginning.

Probably some, because that's what I did. :)  I usually don't vote and haven't voted at all this season, but I was upset at the scores for both Tamar and Alexa, so I voted for both of them, just because.

  9. So Tamar is claiming on Twitter that the producers told everyone to say that they're the best dancer in the competition, and now she's pissed that she said it and they aired it. I'm not at all doubting that producers manipulate this show left and right, but I'm just asking - is it possible she's not telling the truth? Or is it maybe true that they did indeed ask everyone to say it, but none of them did except Tamar? Sorry, but I can't see Alek, Andy, Hayes or even Nick or Bindi boasting like that. Calling themselves a contender, sure. But the best? Just asking...

She tweeted that she was told that everyone was saying it and that it was going to be a fun banter type of thing.  I definitely believe she was told that.  Whether or not production told her the truth is another story.

Alexa and Tamar had my favorite dances of the night and yeah, they were underscored.

  10. As for NIghtmare, maybe it was the table, the chair and some of the dancing around the table but I instantly thought of this. I wonder who got the idea to rip of Mia Michaels?

Seriously!  Alice in Mia-Land!  I was just getting ready to post this.

SYTYCD Season 7.  And Allison danced that number on tour that year.

edited.  Nevermind, this is the main thread.

  11. Were you a fan of his before? Because the comment was that he would lose fans because of this type of drama and that I disagree with that. Because as I said, his fans are his fans. YMMV of course. I don't see Derek's fans turning on him because some nutjobs who stan for him say hateful things about some other Pros and same with Val. And I do not doubt that there are people who have started disliking and hating on Derek because of his success on the show. I see it all the the time, every season in a number of comments.

Yes, I was very much a fan at one time. I dont want to talk anymore about this in Val's thread, but yes.

  12. He really should get a message to them to tone it the heck down. They could be costing him fans.

Doubt it. His fans are his fans, just like Val fans are his fans.

Actually, that's exactly what happened to me. I don't dislike the man personally at all, but I hate the aura surrounding him with a passion, and that's where it came from.  And I will never again support him on DWTS because of it.

As for Val, I know nothing about the man personally, and I only like him when he's paired with a partner that I like and when they seem to have a good relationship.  LIke with Zendaya.  I had no idea there were these wars going on with the fan groups, so this has been an interesting morning.  And I do have to laugh about pairing him with Bindi.  I get it now.

  13. And no matter when/how the episodes were constructed, I have such a strong impression that something must have happened that massively pissed Tim off that he ran to Zac with, and from then on, Swapnil was not long for the show.  Maybe a comment slamming them both? Or some other kind of misbehavior?  The disconnect between the early part of the season and the past few weeks is so glaring, and nothing we were shown accounts for it, as far as I'm concerned.

This is basically what I said in the main thread.  Something doesn't compute.  If Swap did something really wrong, why couldn't they just say what it was and build a story around that?   Why push the not-giving-it-his-all story when it's obvious this was not enough to send him packing. There has to be something more.  My guess is that something went down or was said that would make Tim or the show look bad, and that's why it can't be addressed.  Anyway, I hope someone talks soon because it's driving me crazy.

  14. I forgot to say I can barely recall a time when Tim essentially said "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" to a designer this late in the competition. I recall it happening earlier in the season in prior years, not late or with people who have done so well in the competition. There was no "we'll miss you" or "you'll do great things" and no hug. NO NOTHING. Tim addressed the group instead and was totally dismissive of Swpanil. Possibly more went on behind the scenes than we saw, because its not all adding up for me. It can't just be that Swapnil should have spent more time working and the woman wasn't happy. Because stink face is never happy, let's get real here. She's not a happy person. She's apparently in her 20s yet looks weighed down by life and at least in her late 30s. She's not a happy woman at this point in her life for whatever reason.

Exactly! I hope we get the real story from someone because there were definitely things going on that we weren't privy to.  Did we ever hear any negative comments about Swapnil from the other designers?  Wouldn't they air those if the attempt was to make him look bad, if  they existed? I thought something was up with his participation on the show from the beginning.  No wins, in spite of high finishes, praise, and IMO what were some winning designs.  I thought at the time that he was maybe a ringer and was promised publicity and a runway show, and then something went horribly wrong and that all went out the window.  Something definitely happened. Did Swapnil realize what a crapfest this show is and decide he didn''t want any part of it? Did something happen between him and Tim on a personal level, like a proposition?  I would even buy a drug story, but wouldn't they try to create a more sympathetic story for his ousting if that were the case, if someone had an addiction and needed help?

Anyway, for this episode, I was thinking the whole time that Swapnil DID create what his client asked for initially, something day-to-night with long sleeves.  He should have stuck with one of the two first creations.  If his client made herself more clear at any time, that wasn't shown, other than not bombshell. And what he created wasn't bombshell in my mind.   She herself was portrayed in a bad light, as a negative nellie from the start.  Why would they make one of their crew look so bad?  Questions, questions....  Swapnil did not deserve to go home based on his creations the past few weeks. This was obviously all manufactured.  I just want to know why.

Ashley's was one of the most unflattering creations I've ever seen on this show.

  15. What I did like about tonight was Tamar and Val's international latin Rumba.  Hey, look, finally some BALLROOM content, not bull shit pretending to be ballroom, or jazz or contemporary.

Yes! My favorite dance of the night, because it was ballroom and danced beautifully! I'm not a fan of Paula, but I also really liked that cha cha because you could actually see the cha cha steps.  Thanks to Louis for that!  But as someone else said, enough with the leg-wraps.
