What exactly did Valerie say while Kaniyah was walking out? It was something like "I just love her."  I remember thinking, "Well we know that she's not going to be eliminated."  Cole is a much better baker and had one bad day.  Kaniyah has had many bad days, couldn't make her own whipped cream, and will be in the finals because Valerie loves her.

I doubt that Valerie and Duff make the final decision with regard to results.  They may provide input but my guess is that they're mostly mouthpieces for production.

I'm mostly annoyed with Simone Biles. Nothing against her, but I was tired of Laurie before she danced her second dance. I don't want Laurie 2.0 with Simone, and I'm afraid that's what's going to happen.

Ditto. I started out liking Laurie but became tired of her after a couple of weeks.  I assume Simone will be the same.  Having gymnasts two seasons in a row is too much.

Please let my dream of a Property Brother come true. That's the rumor that's got me most excited for the new season.

I would like that, too, and I can't even say why.  Just thinking about it makes me smile.

They're both coming back? Didn't Peta say something about wanting to spend some months with her baby before returning to the show and basically made it seem that the earliest she'd be back was the Fall season? And as for Maks...why does he even bother anymore with his declarations of being "done"? It's beyond embarrassing now.

Isn't he just following Derek's lead?

Personally, I like Valerie and what she brings to the show.  She's excellent at giving the kids some advice when they seem stumped by the challenges and she phrases negative criticism in such a way that the kid still feels like they did a good job.  And she's a good foil for Duff ... being the sane one so he can be his goofy self.

Yeah, I like Valerie with Duff, too, and would miss her if she were to be replaced.

iHAnd my favorite Show-Biz-ready "kid" is the Glitter Prince himself, Cole. He made a beautiful, elegant "tie-dyed" cake.

Cole appears to be a very talented baker, but he also seems very full of himself. His cake was awesome! He's good, and I want to like him, but would it kill him to thank the judges when they compliment him?  Many of the kids this season seem to have a shtick and it's turning me off.  Go, Justice!

  6. Last night was the first time that Jason's shtick annoyed me.  A polite, "thank you" would work much better.  In general, I'm finding the kids more annoying this season.  Wonder if they were told to put their personalities on overdrive for the cameras.  I'm a poor judge - I thought Maya would be the one to go  since her roast beef sandwich was pretty bad, but was hoping it would be Audra because she's grating on me.  Good luck to Dylin!   So far, Justice isn't getting any negative edits. He must make it to the finals.

I notice that this seasons show is not being shown through OnDemand.  Season 1 and 2 are there but not this season.  Maybe because they knew the kids weren't as talented?  Or maybe they were worried about the d'Arabian backlash?

The current season shows up for me, listed under the Food Network shows, along with the past 2 seasons.

My current favorites are Justice (if he doesn't make it as a baker, I expect to see him on The Weather Channel), Maya, Reese and Kaniyah.  I find it interesting that Maya hails from the same small tony D.C. suburb as cutie Matthew from Season 2.  Surely they must know each other.

Well, that was interesting. I wonder if Miss d'Arabian had to throw the challenge to avoid lawsuits against Food Network. Still, putting a FN Star's kid in a competition with a fat cash prize sucks. Especially for the kid who was next in line, but didn't make the cut. Still pissed about that whole situation. Not cool at all.

This makes me wonder if there wasn't a qualified next-in-line and it was just easy to bring Charlotte in to fill a spot.

Since the kids were just basically making bundt cakes tonight,  why did they have so much trouble baking them properly?  I don't blame the judges for not eating all that fondant.

  9. Kudos to Calvin!  His freestyle was my favorite tonight and he is now one of my all-time favorite contestants.  I loved his energy and presence on the show and how he made me smile every week.  Never expected him to get this far but I'm thrilled that he did.  Well done!  I'm happy with the final three and don't really care who ends up in what position.

"Shall We Dance on Ice" is a journey of dance through the ages with both skating and dance performances. The special is hosted by Kristi Yamaguchi and Shark Tank's Robert Herjavec and will feature performances by superstar dancers, including Dmitry Chaplin, Chelsie Hightower, Tristan MacManus, and Anna Trebunskaya. The special will also include performances by ice dancers Meryl Davis & Charlie White, Sinead Kerr-Marshall & John Kerr, Naomi Lang & Peter Tchernyshev, Laurence Fournier-Beaudry & Nikolaj Sorensen, Isabella Tobias & Ilia Tkachenko, Alexandra Paul & Mitchell Islam, Kim Navarro & Brent Bommentre, and Beata Handra & Joel Dear. Special musical performance by Grammy Award-nominated Goo Goo Dolls.

    What, no Mrs. Herjavec?

Everytime Tom said "eras", I kept hearing "errors".  Oh well.

    I was hearing "heiress".

Yay for Calvin still being on the show!   I honestly thought he was going to get lost in the shuffle without having an emotional backstory or  special treatment.  I'm ok with Maureen leaving but would have preferred Jana or Ryan.  Though I liked James tonight, I'm with Len in wanting to see more Jitterbug.  Where was the hold?  And how nice of Len to point it out and then announce he was still giving a high score.

Loved the team waltz. Just beautiful, but it seemed the awarding of the points was very low key.  Don't they usually announce a "winning" team?

Nice knowing you, Gleb.  I think most of us realize it's an entertainment show and not a dance contest, but still....

  12. I loved Calvin's dance again last night. He is such a smooth dancer for someone his size.   I  still worry that he will get lost in the shuffle because he's not being propped by the scores.  Hope people are voting for him.

I agree.  I didn't like the Val and Laurie pairing from the beginning.  I knew it would be a while before I could see/feel their connection.  They did fine with the fun routines.  She has an infectious smile.  I think they'll get back to those.

I think Laurie and Mark would have been an awesome pair.

  14. I'm loving Calvin this season, but I'm also worried about him.  He did another great dance and got positive comments from the judges, but his scores IMO didn't' match the comments.  Therefore, no negative comments to motivate viewers to vote, but also no high scores to ensure he stays.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if he were the next to go.
