A medical degree is a medical degree. You have to pass the same exams to practice as someone who goes to Johns Hopkins.

No, a medical degree is not a medical degree when it is obtained outside of the United States. Considering she couldn't even pass the MCAT to get IN to a U.S. med school, I doubt she's going to do well in actual med school (whether in Mexico or elsewhere). Mexican and Carribbean medical schools have a notorious reputation of taking anyone with a pulse and a promissory note into their programs and churn out students at an alarming rate. Very little vetting, and typically sub-standard education. I work in the medical profession and it is HIGHLY frowned upon to hire grads from those schools, especially in hospitals. She may be able to get her foot in the door in private practice through connections (if she even graduates), but that's about the only way she's going to get in to practice.

    Mexico???  Why not the US?

She couldn't pass the MCAT. Tells you how "smart" she is. Everyone in the medical profession knows those Carribbean & Mexican medical schools are for those who couldn't pass muster in the U.S. for a real degree. She and her snotty attitude can go have a wonderful time in Mexico and see just how far it takes her in the real world. I hope to God she doesn't harm any future patients.

  3. After watching this episode twice, one thing that struck me was the look on Michael's face when Elanor told him to be careful. And then his remark to her...the tone in his voice. It makes me wonder.....could they really be in the Good Place (or Medium Place) all along and they're being tested to see if they move forward in their moral character or redeem themselves from what supposedly sent them to the Bad Place?

While all we hear are descriptions of how awful the Bad Place is, we never truly see it....even when they're IN the actual Bad Place. Wouldn't the demons want to shed their human façades and be their natural forms if they were in the real Bad Place?  Perhaps Michael is seeking redemption because he wasn't able to progress and move forward earlier on in his afterlife?

I can't wait to see where the show is going to take us next week. I'm so sad there are only a few episodes left this season :(

  4. My only dilemma is that there are only a handful of shows left this season. If the show was only intended to run for 3 seasons, I'm going to be so sad to see it go. I'm sure they'll do a wonderful job of wrapping it all together, but I sure have enjoyed every minute of this show so far. One of the bright spots of my week :)

  5. One thing I keep coming back to is how many times the phrase "it's everything I ever wanted" was said during the episode. I have a feeling this is going to tie in to future scenarios. When Team Cockroach talked about finally getting to the Good Place, Michael's face did not look particularly happy.

I've never been happy for someone to get their coke like I was for Mindy St. Clair...priceless :)

We start building our team today.

I'm counting on @LaurenBrook to help double up on positive reinforcement, and @SopranoKris to be on medical stand-by for when I inevitably pass out from sheer exhaustion as I maniacally attempt to correct all the errors.  I may also need a volunteer to help guard me as I offer my opinions on the swimsuit calendar pictures ("they're all beautiful!"), and Kelli decides she's had enough and decides to hurl her new director's chair at my head ?

I'll get my medical bag ready :)

I suspect their hometown does not love the twins, but I'd love to hear someone who's from there tell us how they are regarded.

I'm from the area. No love lost here. People who watch the show are quite ashamed of their behavior and the cheating. Gives us a bad name!

  8. I'm from the same area in MI that the twins are from. Believe you me, it's no fashion capital whatsoever. They really gave us a bad name. When the show was getting ready to premier, the local news announced there would be a "watch party" with the twins in attendance. I'm so glad I didn't go. After watching them week after week, their dysfunctional co-dependence was too much to take. The over-pronunciation of words (indeed!) drove me nuts. Mr. SopranoKris (begrudingly) watches the show with me and he even said "I hope to God they get rid of those awful, entitled twins!" He gleefully cheered "good-bye cheater!" when they auf'd Claire.

My take on the whole M&M situation: no one wants to be the "tattle-tale". When they (and presumably other) designers learned that Claire/Shawn were using a measuring tape and writing down measurements to bring back to the workroom, no one said anything because they didn't want to be the "snitch". As a point of pride, you'd rather win on your own merits. I can see the thought process would be "let them hang themselves with their own rope". When Margarita saw the muslin design looked just like her top from the previous week, I can see why she'd be upset. We saw Shawn completely rip off the pants her model was wearing and the top she was wearing in the model challenge. However, when Claire changed the top to a different design, I thought Margarita would let it drop. However, now that we know they had already witnessed the cheating, I can see why it was eating her up. And then to get rewarded for cheating by getting the win. Yes, I can definitely see why Michael made his protest. It certainly wasn't right, nor fair, what Claire did.

And for Claire to keep saying "it was ONLY a tank top!" just goes to show how little remorse she has for breaking the rules. She deserved what she got.

I would have preferred that M&M acted like adults and pulled her aside and said "hey, I noticed you had an illegal tape measure. Stop it or I'll report you" and "don't you think your top looks a little bit like mine?" while she was designing, instead of all the back-biting. However, I can understand why it happened. Again, no one wants to be perceived as a snitch. Put cash money on the line with it and that's a bomb waiting to explode. I'm sure the producers were drooling!

On to better things: my like for Kentaro just increased 100% with his playfulness this week. Too funny! "Don't take any tape measures" :)

  9. Count me in with those who think maybe Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani & Jason are getting the chance to redeem themselves to get in the "real" Good Place because their Earthly life circumstances (bad parents, mental hang ups, poor decisions, etc.) kept them from evolving in to genuinely good people. I can only imagine how different Eleanor & Tahani would be if they had supportive, loving families. Would Chidi not be so indecisive if his family were more nurturing? Would Jason not be so incredibly stupid (loveable, yes, but dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks stupid) if he had a different upbringing? It's kind of like the psychological nature vs. nurture scenario....

I love Vicki!  She was wearing the best sweater. Orange with a little turtle on it... does anyone know how I can find out what brand it is?

To me, it looks like the tortise from the 70s Tootsie Pop commercials. "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop"?

  11. Even though I'm not fond of the flamingo print, I do like the design of that collection. Very interesting to look at, just wish the colors were more striking.

You can tell Ayana's stuff instantly because of the modesty angle. I feel like they've been setting her up for the win from the beginning to have another "first". "Look everyone, the FIRST modest designer in Project Runway history!" I can just see it now. Some of her stuff is really cute and looks comfortable, I just don't care for the hoods.

The see-through stuff HAS to be that weird guy who wore the see-through shorts with his tighty-whities showing in Ep. 4 (can't remember his name). The pale blond guy with the glasses? UGH! I can't believe he made it that far. I'm hoping it's one of the decoys.

Margarite's has to be the colorful, tropical collection. It's got her personality written all over it. While the prints are very happy and it looks like fun clothes, I don't see it winning. (Yellow fish dress is adorable for island wear)

I'm praying neither one of the twins made it far enough to get to the top 6....ugh!!!!! I'm from the same area in MI and they are giving us a bad name...INDEED!!!

  12. OK, I guess I'm in the minority. I loved the fact that they spent a whole show on prelims. I love the audition process. Many girls don't make it past prelims and now we'll know if they are returning or not next year. I hate it when they do a backstory on a girl in prelims and it's obvious she makes the team and is basically the sole focus for the season (Morgan!), so it didn't grate when they focused on ballroom girl. It was obvious she wasn't going to make it.

I notice that there's a pointed effort for them to show K&J and the other judges saying positive things about the girls auditioning.

Breanna was definitely beautiful, but the preview for next week shows some very low kicks. Wonder if that will be a deal breaker or if they'll "take a chance" on another low kicker again?

I loved the "We Are Family" bit from DJ EJ. Cute! I have to admit I'm surprised the daughter made it to semis. I think she'll get cut because she doesn't really have the DCC look. But kudos to Mom for being brave and putting it all out there just to bucket list it :)

The ballroom dancer completely annoyed the hell out of me, so I was relieved she didn't make it to semis. Don't have to hear her talk about how she's a "4 time champion" again

I think Popcorn Kelly is crazy to have spent $1000 on an audition outfit. Please tell me she was exaggerating.

I love Christina's new hair style. It suits her well and makes her look younger. The super long hair actually aged her a bit. Plus, she should definitely stay blonde. Brunette was too dark on her when she had a make-over the last time she was in TC. I hope they let her keep the style. She's one that I'm hoping her injury is healed and there are NO EXCUSES this time around. I would love it if she came in and slayed it. We will see...

Not thrilled to see Melissa R. back. Ugh! Can she just keep having babies and do something else?

Dayton was cute, but I'm not sure she's a strong enough dancer to go much further in the process. I did love seeing Shelley cheering her on. I know legacy kids get a bad rap on here, but I think Dayton seems like a level-headed girl and doesn't give off an attitude like she expects to waltz on to the team.

I'm just happy the new season is finally on. The lack of spoilers was really dwindling my enthusiasm. I don't really have any favorites to root for right now.

I keep hoping the Season 12 "season pass" will show up soon on iTunes so that I can buy it, but no luck so far.  I don't have cable (too expensive with Comcast raising my rates practically every month or every other month) so I can't watch the show when it airs, thus iTunes.  I can't wait!

Exactly! I have Comcast and they moved CMT to the premium package. It's nearly an extra $50/month for the premium package. I'm not paying that for ONE channel I want to see. I could care less about the other channels in the package. I'm going to have to buy the season on Amazon, which means I won't get to see it in real time for the first time since the show started. No bueno :(

  14. The lack of spoilers this season has really dwindled my enthusiasm for the show. I feel like I have no connection to the TCCs this season. No one I'm rooting for. The only one I really know is Christina. I'm hoping she fixed her flexibility issues and her kicks are up to par. Other than that, I can't tell you anything about any of the TCCs this season. The lockdown on info is ruining the fun. I looked forward to the new season each year by reading all the speculation on the boards. It's been pretty lackluster this season :(

And now they're not even announcing the team before the show airs. UGH!

But there's no way they're going to keep them all on the team. So yeah maybe one girl will be lucky enough to prove herself at the very last minute, but 4 other girls are going to get their heart broken on the very last day. That's cruel.

I don't know. If it were me, I'd take solace in the fact that I made it up until the very last practice before being cut. It's heartbreaking no matter when they get cut, but at least you knew you had a legit shot at making the team if you went all the way, only to be cut at the end. Or at the very least, K&J were really hoping you'd show them you had what it takes to make it. I'd rather have that than get cut early.

  16. Yay! Super excited for Kashara. She & Robin are 2 of my favorite vets. I feel bad for Erica. She's one of the best dancers on the team. I hope her injury isn't something that's career-ending! I'm really surprised that Tasha made SG. She must have had a spectacular audition for it, because she's never wow'd me with her dancing.

At least the one rookie I was rooting for, Gina, made SG. She's definitely got the whole DCC package.

    Is it August yet?????
