  1. "The city of alright" - kinda felt like this episode. We're transitioning out of the dark forest, but it's gonna be a bit twisty yet.

Lots of good stuff in here, but most of the storylines were concentrated on areas that aren't my fav, so I had a lot of TSOP.

So Nate and Jade are a thing. Good for him? Felt bad/weird that he's now trying to recreate his time at Richmond (which he could still be having if he hadn't thrown a tantrum and left) at West Ham, but of course, it isn't working. LOL at him inviting Rupert to the Lovehounds and love that his assistant was like, yeah, no.

Any Henry-heavy episode is not my fav, but at least the kid wasn't the one annoying me this time. I get it, Ted's not over his ex. But the fishing for how much Jake is over at the house, the whole Paris shit, just all of it is my least favorite color on Ted. I was really hoping we'd get some Doctor Sharon time because damn, this man needs therapy. Glad Rebecca was there to give him a kick in the arse (love her outfit in that phone call) and I'm really, REALLY hoping we're done with this storyline now.

So Keeley and Jack are done. Didn't predict this would be why, but it does fit perfectly. I do wish we had gotten to know Jack even a little, but I guess in the end, I only care that Keeley's upset. Love her spin on the Pretty Woman dress and sad that Jack didn't properly appreciate it. And why do I feel like Jack was just trying to stick it to the establishment by showing up with a lady to Uncle Bernie's event? Ugh.

But LOVE LOVE LOVE Jamie and Keeley's scene. What a grown up boy with a stupid, stupid password! Do we think Roy knew it was for Jamie or was just sad it wasn't for him? Still hoping for Roy and Keeley to reunite, but that convo isn't going to help his case.

Great scene of the himbos deleting all the pics and videos from their phones - the best bit of comedy we got in this episode tbh. Colin seems like he almost wants to get caught in a hacking scandal the way he was talking and maybe that would be an "easier" way to come out than making a grand statement, for him. It all seems awful though. But now Isaac knows about Colin. Isaac and Colin seemed to be team besties, so I'll be curious to see how this plays out. Colin seems resigned to lose Isaac, but it did seem like Isaac was accepting in his silent way.

Mae was also fantastic with her treatment of "Prince Henry" and the coaches after finding out that they went to the West Ham game. LOVE HER!

I've never seen anyone remove a tooth with string.  Is that a thing?  Our family has always pulled them out by hand, using Kleenex or toilet paper.

Not me thinking that the video was about flossing their kid's teeth 😂

I never remember going to any extremes when my teeth were falling out. I definitely was the play with it with my tongue until it just falls into my mouth. My dad was always wanting to pull them, but I wouldn't let him!

I’m SEVERELY shocked the kids are wearing proper footwear.

Are they though? Looking at the shoes on the one in front of Tessie (coat?! tied around her waist - I’m not good with the little ones’ names), they look huge on her. Maybe she’s got long feet and is due for a growth spurt, but it looks like she’s wearing someone else’s.

If anything this last episode showed us how alone Rebecca is and that she might be willing to move. No emergency contact? Really? She’s lived there her whole life. If she has nothing keeping her in England she might follow Ted.

I thought that was such a weird beat. I mean, sure, she doesn't have a husband anymore (though the thought Rupert actually holding her hand in a doctor's waiting room for anything is ludicrous), but she has her mom and Sassy at the very least. They could have even thrown the TedBecca folx a bone and had her put down Ted since they see each other every day.

At the risk of profiling, also think she is Eastern European, and there is no stare of contempt like an Eastern European stare of contempt.

Yes, I saw a post on Tumblr about Jade that she wasn't being rude by British/European standards, but Americans are reading it as rude and/or racist, which I thought was an interesting take. I mean, it's an American show set in Britain, so I'm curious how they would like her to be read as a character, especially in light of the fact that she turns nice after Nate gets dumped at the window table (that she's never wanted him to have?).

I like waitress and Nate but the model made no sense at all. Why did she ask him to call? She's in no need of dates, she can pick and choose and I'm sure is ignored by some.

I figured Rupert paid her since it was Rupert’s assistant that brought him the message. He probably assumed that Nate would take her to another hotspot and get papped again or embarrassed (either is fine with Rupert) to keep Nate on the leash and on the high life. I’m sure Rupert didn’t expect Nate would take her to his local spot to have a real date. That wasn’t part of the model’s bargain, so she bailed. I was only surprised that she didn’t say it explicitly to embarrass Nate more.

So sure, maybe she's always been bi, but they never do that with straight male characters. Ever. You're never going to see them do that with Jamie or Roy. Because straight men are always straight but women are always fluid. 😠

To me, Keeley has always been bi (she made several comments to Rebecca in season 1), so her hooking up with Jack is only "on-screen confirmation" of this. Plus it seemed pretty telegraphed since we met Jack that she wanted to hook up with Keeley. But you're right, we'd never get Bi!Jamie or Bi!Roy, even if that would make perfect sense. Though perhaps we've got Bi!Colin and he's just with a man right now. I think I'd be more on board with this hook up if they weren't drunk and in Keeley's office (though what is the point of the smoke screen on the window if you can still see silhouettes?) and if we really knew anything about Jack because that she's rich?

    1 hour ago, Schweedie said:

But I saw someone elsewhere point out that this is basically what Keeley did back in season one, too, when she thought Roy was blowing her off. She was hurt and slept with Jamie, when she really wanted to be with Roy. I think/hope it's the same thing here and Jack won't be a permanent fixture.

Thanks for bringing this up! I had missed this as part of a pattern for Keeley and actually very in character for her. I really hope it doesn't tank KJPR if it ends up going badly because I want good things for Keeley. (I also want her to end up with Roy, but Roy needs to do some work - which I was hoping this season would go into - on why he can't enjoy good things and why he thinks everyone in his life is waiting to leave him.)

  8. I'm not gonna lie folx, the TSOP (time spent on phone) for this episode was high, which I was NOT expecting, considering the opponent was Manchester City.

I think it's probably because it was comprised of a lot of storylines I don't care about and a few that were so predictable it felt like they belonged a lesser show.

Somehow or for some reason, surprising to Nate himself, the woman from the last episode (apparently a famous model) wanted to see him again? So he took her to his little family Greek restaurant? And she was predictably not impressed by it and then left? But it's okay because the bitchy hostess was finally nice to him instead of continuing to be a bitch to him? Okay.

Rebecca running into that guy (who I literally have no memory of, but I assume must be the guy that she doubles with Roy and Keeley last season and Roy gives his struck by lightning speech?) was a very long and silly way to have Psychic Sign #2 appear, so she's going to try to have a baby. While I'm happy we're not going to do the whole Rebecca going through fertility treatments storyline, I'm not invested in Rebecca being a mother, so that was a lot of time wasted.

Shandy is no longer going to be helpful or innovative like when we met her, but now acting exactly how everyone expected her to be, so Keeley has to fire her. But then doesn't cut off her security badge or anything (though I would think perhaps that would be Barbara's purview? Does KJPR have HR??), so there's lamb shit everywhere. While I'm happy to have Keeley get her groove back, making out with her VC funder was both predictable and a bit misguided. But if that gets happy, confident Keeley back, then LFG, Keeley!

It was also very predictable that Henry was the bully and not being bullied. Roy's revenge fantasy was incredible detailed and specific and I did have to laugh when Trent Crimm dropped his mug. Though I can't stand Henry as a character and don't love the kid playing him, it seemed a little cheap to have Henry already know he was wrong and apologize for Ted could even speak to him (in like a day?). Maybe I don't understand what bullying means these days because it seems like Henry was just mean to a kid once (like Rebecca yelled at Ted once)? I also didn't love Ted reaching for the alcohol instead of water the minute Michelle mentioned her boyfriend. Like have a drink when you get home or whatever, but they seem to be very deliberate in showing us that he keeps drinking at home alone.

And Zava's gone. He didn't do anything weird or unnecessary (like outting Colin or whatever), but just randomly quit after stealing Jamie's moment once again and giving one more ridiculous speech. I'm sad we didn't get to meet Christina, given that Zava is such a Wife Guy, but I will not miss this character. (I did laugh that Dani did take the opportunity to koala bear hug him at the end of the speech!) Perhaps the storyline's not over, but it feels weird that they set up this huge character and some running things (like Dani copying his celebrations and stuff) and then he's just left Richmond.

No mention of Jamie's dad or anything to do with the fact that Jamie used to play for Man City. I know it's been a couple of years, but seems like Jamie might have some ideas on how to best go up against them? But instead all the coaches are like Ned Flanders's parents - "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas." It feels a little weird that we never saw them train with Zava, never heard why any of these tactics won't work, just that they won't. I'm not saying we need a repeat of the all trick plays game, but try SOMETHING. I know I know, dark forest, but I need some light (or at least shit I care about soon).

Ted was right when he said there's a lot more football to be played: 38 games in a season? An American football coach gets maybe 12. You can't blow yourself out on just one...so Roy & Beard, who are now functioning well as assistants, had to hear Ted's "I'm not angry, I'm DISAPPOINTED." And I hope it does them some good.

While I definitely agree (though I couldn't have told you the length of a premier league season because my football knowledge is nil!), we only have six more episodes. 😭 I dunno, I was hoping that Richmond wouldn't go quite so crazy and show Ted that wanting to win is important too.

Like, I know Richmond needed to lose this one because they can't be at the top of the table in episode 4 of 10, but I haven't seen Ted have an idea yet, not even how to try to get Zava into Believe or whatever. I don't need the lads to get 3 red cards, but seeing some fire in them and bombastic side eye to Nate was fun while it lasted.

Obviously Beard and Roy need Ted to balance them because otherwise there will be actual murder on the pitch, but I'm waiting for darts!Ted to make an appearance any time now.

  10. This one was almost an hour long, but it didn't actually feel that way, even with all the Nate and Ted's manpain

First of all - ADORE that Jamie sleeps Winne-the-Pooh style. Definitely need more Jamie x Roy training montages. Also - kinda can't believe that Roy (Chelsea and England LEGEND) and Jamie (star footballer and reality TV star) can just have a workout in the daylight on Richmond green. Like, I know it's pretty aesthetically, but I don't buy it.

Rebecca's "believe in you and have fun" enthusiasm is scary and lovely. Hannah Waddingham was aces in that scene.

Sassy is correct again that Ted is a MESS. Glad Beard called him on it a little, but I wish ONE of the Diamond Dogs would have gotten on him a LITTLE about it. Also a little sad that Trent didn't get to join the Diamond Dogs. I guess there's always next time!

Zava got a little on my nerves this week with Zorreaux, but I did like that he gave a good interview after the mess. It's interesting that they are not showing us ANY training or how Zava is acting outside of the dressing room. When Roy and Beard have their whole magnets play, and Higgins asks if Zava will do it, they don't even try. Or there's no line about of course he won't because x or y. Yes, he stole a goal from Jamie last week (which is shit) and he was pissed he didn't get a chance to score (but also Jamie missed!) this week, but there's nothing to indicate SO FAR that he's not open to trying new stuff or working with the team. It just seems that no one will ask him, talk to him, or coach him in any way. It's very strange.

I liked seeing a return to bumbling Nate who may understand that he was wrong last year and may not be as good as his team is making him look. I now very much appreciate the hostess at his fav restaurant doesn't know who he is and is not impressed when informed. Facing the corner in the elevator made me crack up, but of course, Rupert is always there to make sure Nate doesn't actually apologize.

Rupert continues to be the worst, but I'm glad Rebecca is finally seeing that Bex is not the enemy. As mentioned in the Speculation thread, I would love to see a Rebecca alliance take Rupert down and leave him with nothing in the end.

I'm glad Keeley got to meet Jack (wild that she was funded by a company whose boss she never saw, researched, or even knew the name of - what's up, my girl?!) and things seemed to go okay. I'm sorry that Shandy had to go and screw things up, but I'm happy that Keeley was able to boss babe the situation, even if I wasn't happy with her "please" to get Shandy to change the tag line back. It's time both Keeley and Shandy remember that it's KJPR and Keeley is in charge.

While I'm happy Ted put the glass down before Facetiming Michelle and actually admitted to being "ticked off" (is that the strongest anger we'll get from him about this??) about the whole Dr. Jacob thing, I wasn't a huge fan of the crap that came afterward or that she didn't respond to his statements at all. It does seem that maybe Ted is recognizing that he's a mess, but I wish he could figure out a way to not make that Michelle's problem (except how it affects Henry, which he did not mention at all).

The game was also a mess and a little cartoony. Obviously, vengeance is not a color that Richmond can wear well, but perhaps if Beard and Roy had been allowed to show the video when the found it and TRAINED on some scenarios to work through that anger at Nate (also interesting that apparently no one knew the sign was ripped or missing except Ted, which doesn't track for the last match, but whatever) maybe it could have worked. Sure, the whole team doesn't need to get Red Carded, but c'mon Ted, trying to win is also okay?? Didn't his American football win a championship? You're trying to tell me, even in DII, that it was all Believe and hugs and not one bit about strategy and watching tape and actually trying to win the game??

Next week is Manchester City and I'm a little nervous already. Glad Roy and Jamie are working together now and hope the team can pull it together for Jamie this time.

Either way, I doubt that wearing that yellow strait-jacket thing and dancing around like a loon in school is going to help her popularity/acceptance or whatever we're supposed to see as her issue.

Yeah, the jacket is fine and if it helps her self-confidence, great. But the dancing around to her seat is gonna be the thing that gets everyone starting at her like a weirdo. If she's embracing her inner weirdo, then I applaud that, but I don't think it's gonna make the rest of her schooling any easier. Perhaps if the ending was her finding other "weirdos" then maybe I'd understand it.

I get that Amazon's whole thing is "just buy something, you'll feel better" but trying to tie it to body inclusion is not it.

I’d love to find out an episode or two from now that Sassy and Doc Sharon were both so professionally offended by Dr. Jake dating Michelle that they both figured out and contacted his licensing authority.

TBH, given the way Ted is spiraling about this, I'm surprised this wasn't part of his drinking and obsessing on his laptop montage.

  13. Thought I didn't have a lot to say, but then I got wordy again 😂

Love canonically mlm!Colin. It does feel a bit like the writers have been reading a lot of fanfic with the foreshadowing of an accidental outing of Colin. Not that I think that Trent Crimm is going to do it, but if he's seen them making out on the street, guarantee someone else has. And while I think that it would be awesome to really address homophobia in sport in a Ted Lasso way, I'm sad for Colin to be caught in the middle if he doesn't want to come out.

I also wonder if the team actually knows (or some of them do), but don't really talk about it because he doesn't or if they are oblivious. It did seem a bit of an interesting move for Colin to bring his "pal Mike" to Sam's restaurant when no one else brought a +1 (except for Jane, but I don't buy that Beard actually invited her!)

Oh Ted! Like I get that it would be devastating to find out that your ex-wife is now dating your ex-marriage counselor, but damn dude. I really hope Ted and Dr. Sharon can figure out a way to stop triggering his panic attacks right before games. Also, how the hell do you get all the way to work and just before game time without realizing you don't have you phone? Also didn't Ted already know that Michelle had a boyfriend? I though that Henry dropped that in a previous episode. I mean, who it is still sucks and is VERY weird, but it's not exactly BRAND new information. I hope Ted and Sassy hook up again because I like them together and Ted needs to continue to get his groove back. (Like he did when he got divorced - like immediately after signing the papers, sir! Not judging, but also just pointing out that your ex-wife is also allowed to move on - especially she's the one who served papers). Like I love Andrea Anders, but I'd be very happy to not see her on this show anymore.

The Zava of it all confuses me. He's good at football and not a total dick. Like he's participating in the team (even if it's mostly just bending the team to what he wants) and he's scoring all the goals, which apparently is all that matters. Him showing up in Rebecca's office, eating her biscuits and then soul-bonding with Higgins is bizarre, but if no one is going to call him on it, then why would he think he can't behave that way.

I see the reason for moving Jamie's locker to that weird corner for two episodes was so that he can be all put-out when they make that the Zava corner. And oh Jamie! I get that we're setting up for absolutely delicious Roy and Jamie training montage goodness, but I find it hard to believe that Ted can't see that Jamie isn't meshing with the Zava-ness, given his usual Jamie-dar. LOVE Jamie's "hypocrisy" talk with the coaches though - brilliant! Also his convo with Roy about prima donnas - fantastic!

Rebecca at the psychic did absolutely nothing for me and neither is her apparent quest to be a mother. I did like her telling the psychic to fuck off though. It was nice to have a nod at her past with Sam, but I was never on board with that relationship (the life stages are just too different, even if you discount the boss/player of it all).

So Keeley is still doing PR for the club, which is great (though I would think that a Premiere league team, even one like Richmond would have its own PR office, not just KJPR, who should have a list of a clients). So far, her friend hasn't made any wrong moves, but she and Rebecca keep acting like she's a mess, so I'm a little confused. (And if she is doing it wrong, it's time to actually Boss Babe it and let her know.)

Trent Crimm and the Princess Diaries - yes please!

Don't get me started on Higgins and Jane.

At least Nate didn't spit on anyone this week?

And Rupert was mad! Love that for him!

  14. Apple TV+ app has the title as 4-5-1. And the summary is: "Richmond adjust to an exciting change, but Jamie has reservations. Ted learns there's something new going on back in Kansas as well."

  15. Copying over my Tumblr post since Primetimer was down after my initial watch and I had a lot of feelings.

THIS is my show. First of all, I laughed SO much more this week than last week. It just felt more lived in.

Okay, Roy and Jamie. I know they are just messing with us, but also, so much growth for Jamie to find out that Roy and Keeley broke up (more on THAT in a minute) and immediately check on Roy, even though he knows he’s likely to get his head bit off. I mean, he tried to HUG him - absolute aces!

I love that Keeley is doing a bit more to stand up for herself this week instead of being cowed by her CFO, but I wished she did a little more. While she may regret hiring her friend (though having mimosas on the company card does actually seem to be a Keeley / Rebecca idea, but I get that she’s the boss and/or knows her friend better to know that’s not a good idea), said friend did have an actually productive idea at the shoot they just came from, which saved the client money, which made the client happy. And the KJ of KJPR is also a former model, who I’m guessing didn’t go to college, so perhaps Barbara could back off with the judgment a bit. I get that she doesn’t want to be there or works for Rupert or whatever the other shoe is going to be in this storyline, but the company that Barbara works for, that’s bankrolling KJPR thinks that Keeley is good enough at her job to you know, bankroll KJPR, so maybe get on board? I mean, is it coming out of Barbara’s bank account if Keeley hosts a picnic in the conference (not even an expensive or wild idea?)? But glad to know that Keeley did NOT hire those people in the bullpen because they did NOT seem like Keeley’s people. I’m sad that she’s got her own company, but she didn’t hire any of the staff, isn’t allowed to use her company credit card, and basically can’t make any decisions on her own. I did like that she set Barbara straight about how she speaks to people, but still. Hopefully, Keeley will start to share her brand of sparkle with the office drones and have a little more KJ in the KJPR firm.

The locker room scene made me laugh out loud SO MANY TIMES. The Coach Beard Noise (tm) made me scream every time and I loved it! I’ve bit a little put off by the fact that Jamie’s locker has been moved to the corner by the coach’s office because it seems like he’s on an island away from the rest of the guys, but I figured it was a way to be able to shoot around Phil if needed or do Phil’s coverage separate. And tonight, it meant that Phil was in the background of Ted’s speech and he was just cracking up. I mean, I assume there’s a Jamie reason for him to be smiling/laughing when no one else is, but it also just looked like Phil thought the camera was tight on Jason and he was just laughing. Either way, love.

Great use with Will Kitman tonight - both him wanting to hang out with Roy and Jamie (when please!) and then not knowing what a CD is. Incredible!

Interesting to see that Trent Crimm is writing a book on Richmond - always happy for more Trent Crimm, but what is the angle for a book about Richmond? Really, really LOVED Roy reading the article in his wallet to Trent and Trent knowing exactly what it was. Also, I think I’m totally seeing what those Trent/Ted shippers were seeing - chemistry whoo!

Brett Goldstein was incredible tonight and he kept me riveted through his final little monologue about Roy’s leaving Chelsea. So, Roy broke up with Keeley before he thought Keeley would break up with him. I really hope we dig more into what’s in Roy’s past that makes me act this way. (Also - am I dumb? Who is Rita from the C card?) But the scene where Trent takes a phone call and Roy starts systematically popping the balloons - exquisite!

Almost forgot about the whole Zavo of it all! Love that they are leaning into Rupert as Darth Vader with that long-ass coat when he leaves after Zavo. Love Rebecca absolutely laying into Zavo and it working like a charm. A little nervous because Jamie is definitely FEELINGS about another star player coming to his team, but hopefully, he won’t revert to Prick!Jamie without cause. You can already see that Jamie doesn’t want to share Dani and Dani is already very starstruck. Also very interested to see if Ted can win this one over because it does not seem like his brand of motivation is going to work with Zavo.

No Nate tonight and though I think Nick Mohammed is doing a great job, I did not miss Nate in the slightest.

I will DEFINITELY be watching this one again!

Thank you, yes I was referring to Bex/New Rebecca and I assumed the poster I quoted was too.

But didn't Rupert give his minority shares in Richmond to New Rebecca/Bex (we find this out in the season one episode where Ted plays darts?)? That paved his way to buy West Ham. So unless that didn't happen the way I remember (totally possible!), Bex would have to give up her shares in Richmond and Rupert would have to allow her to buy in West Ham. I don't see him allowing that to happen again. He's evil, but he's not dumb.

I wasn't torn , I hated it. It is such a trope of old sitcoms to have kids speak in perfectly articulated smart ass jokes like they never do in real life. In the beginning when the air hostess asked him if he was excited to go back, his answer: "To all my toys? yes. To my country political landscape? not so much." I actually flinched.

Also quoting Phoebe during the breakup talk: "It makes sense .. and few relationships can survive a major career change, much less two" .. ".. so one of my core beliefs is that nothing lasts forever". WTF. Like the Ted Lasso writers lost their pitch perfect ear when encountering children?

I’ve never been a fan of Henry Lasso. It feels bad to rag on a kid for their shit acting but it always feels like he’s reading a cue card just over Jason’s shoulder and it’s annoying. I know that Ted’s issues include his relationship with his kid, but said kid just sucks all the energy out of whatever scene he’s in that I’m like why are you missing this kid so much?

Phoebe I’ve liked a little better because the kid seems to be up to level with Brett and Juno, but she also felt flat in that scene. But maybe that’s because that whole scene didn’t work for me with them supposedly communicating enough to agree to share with Phoebe but not enough to actually know what they planned to tell her.

I don’t want to be disappointed by the premiere and I know it’s laying the groundwork for good stuff but it’s not one I need to watch again.

On that note, the airport code for Kansas City International airport is MCI (or KCMI), not KCI. Even if locals call it KCI, it probably wouldn’t show up in a flight tracking app like that.

  19. I was not expecting it to drop so early, but for a 45-minute ep, I'm happy to have the extra time!

I think I don't usually like the first episode as it takes me a minute to get back into the groove. Not too many zingers tonight, but lots of set up for things to come. I did absolutely adore Phil Dunster's way of saying "poopie" as Jamie and will have that in my head forever now.

Not a fan of breaking up Roy and Keeley given that they had SEVERAL conversations where she said they weren't breaking up, she just wasn't going to Marbella on vacay, but I have faith that they are endgame.

I still get weird vibes from Keeley's mysterious financier and really the rest of her crew. Like, I get why the CFO is charmless and doesn't "get" Keeley, but did Keeley hire any of those other people? Why would they be freaked out by her screaming when Rebecca shows up? Also, Rebecca hasn't come by ONCE in the last six weeks?

Nate's in way over his head and the social media obsession is only one of MANY things that's going to bite him in the ass. Letting Rupert buy him a car is ... ugh, c'mon Nate! I want to root for his redemption the way we rooted for Rebecca's, but he's making it difficult right now. Can't wait for their first loss!

Just the facts (as no politics allowed). A certain commentator on Fox News (initials TC) has been saying that M&Ms have succumbed to a certain "side" in politics because Mars company updated the lady-M&M's shoe choices to be less sexy and more practical. So I presume that Mars has decided to play on it, probably with some big reveal in an ad at the Super Bowl.

He (or someone else on said network) had a fit because M&Ms made a bag of just “girl” m&ms (green, purple, brown) for Valentine’s Day to support women (or something). So, there are a couple of chocolate candy controversies that at play in the Maya Rudolph fake rebrand.

Which brings me to my other annoyance - previewing or promoing your Superb Owl ads prior to said Owl. Your 30 second spot should not need homework or additional ads to support it. I’m already tired of the Gronk ads and others and the stupid “real” ad hasn’t even aired yet!
