[S14.E20: Top 12 Perform]

Normally I fast forward through the entire beginning of Idol until someone is actually on stage singing, but this time I happened to hear the montage of clips from last night's performances that they showed right at the open.  They played short excerpts of the singers reaching for glory notes, and they all sounded So. Darn. BAD.  Anyone else catch that and hear how jarring it sounded?  It just seemed so weird that the producers would expose the talent is such an unflattering way.

 

Also, how ridiculous for them to show, in Maddie's intro video, the mentor Scott giving her the advice about how to strike the sideways pose and exactly how to hold the prop cowboy hat over her head before flinging it away.  I don't want to be reminded with these behind-the-scenes mentoring sessions how much they try to make these singers into 'the whole package' .  I just want them to sing.  Why is that asking too much?  I'm beginning to hate this show.

Laura (the blonde who isn't Hayley) looks SO FAMILIAR. She really should get work as a stand in for her lookalike actress.

Possibilities, I posted before that I think Laura's a dead ringer for Amy Adams.  Could that be who you think she looks like?

I don't care for Joey's singing, but I love that she turned and was thanking the band as she was going off the stage.  

[S26.E01: Great Way To Start A Relationship (Tokyo, Japan)]

Yes, Tyler is gorgeous - part of the third team to hit the mat.  But what struck me whenever they showed Laura, his blind date partner, was how much she looks like Amy Adams.  

[S04.E03: Something Wicked This Way Comes]

If they had explained that they had to have the mix of both wicked and good in their design (80/20), then there is no way Fabio's could end up in the bottom.  It would have been in the top, IMO.  He had the 'good' look from the front, very sweet and simple, and then the daring, slightly S&M look from the back, with his use of straps, and pants that were a surprise (since you couldn't see them when she walked down).  I wish we knew if the judges were even told that the designers were supposed to incorporate some of the opposite in their look, or if having been told, they chose to completely ignore it. 

[S13.E15: Season 13 Reunion]

Am I the only one who laughed at the awkward way Tim held his champagne glass when they decided to cut through the tension by all knocking back a drink?  He held his champagne flute like it was the Holy Grail, both hands wrapped around it while he brought it slowly to his lips.  It was just so...strange.  

[S13.E07: Priceless Runway]

With the large, obvious pattern Korina chose, I was astounded she had first pieced it together without caring that the pattern wasn't meeting at the seams and it wasn't symmetrical.  Tim had to point it out to her.  

 

Kim Kardashian would love Amanda's jumpsuit and negligee robe.  That is not a good thing.
