  1. I had forgotten that in Season 1, Ragnar and Lagertha invited Athelstan to get jiggy with them.  I wonder if Athelstan still remembers that.

I don't think Aslaug is plotting anything (or as of yet) but I think her setting the slave girl free felt really awkward. You can see she is struggling to feel as loved and respected and be seen as part of Kattegat other than being Ragnar's wife, and so far they still look up to Lagertha, Porunn only confirmed it by wanting to be a strong woman, not just a fab trophy girlfriend.

Whether she is plotting or not, I think what Aslaug needs to realize is that she will probably never overcome the way she showed up at Kattegat.  She basically showed up to destroy a family and to take her place in Ragnar's life.  True, she was expecting his child but she didn't need to make such a big production out of it like she did, riding in like the Queen of Sheba.  She had no respect for his family, and I doubt that the villagers--especially the women--will ever forget that.  I think that the best she can hope for is grudging respect, depending on her actions.

  2. I thought the most disgusting thing in the movie was when the female chief's husband was sitting on the side of the bed, and he coughed to clear his throat and you could hear the phlegm--and then he says he's going to make her some eggs. I got sick to my stomach just imagining him making eggs.  Ugh.

  3. I grew up in a small town in southwestern Pennsylvania and the post office was at the general store and it, too, had a store/postal clerk.  Seeing that guy brought back memories of  me going to the store/post office to pick up mail.

  4. I still don't trust or like Aslaug and I think she's trying some reverse psychology by acting so nice.   I think she hopes to supplant Lagertha in the hearts and minds of the village, and even when it comes to Bjorn.  She freed the slave girl to get Bjorn to like her and be indebted to her.  Lagertha's not stupid, and I think she's hanging back and giving Aslaug the side eye.

I'm glad that Rollo is still alive, and I loved the look of glee on Ragnar's face when he got the news.  However, sometimes when I look at Rollo, I can't get the image out of my mind of him impaling that poor guy on the spear.  It's one thing to kill someone in battle, but that was over the top and unnecessary.  He's still fine though.  Busted up, but fine.

  5. I was wondering, when April was crying over the patient in the operating room, wouldn't she be instructed to leave?  Thankfully she hadn't dropped any tears yet onto the patient, but I was wondering why Owen didn't tell her to leave before she made a mistake.  On the other hand, this is Grey's Anatomy though, where they talk and laugh and do just about anything while operating on some poor patient.

  6. Bjorn's chick reminds me of someone. I just can't place who. I feel like it's some 90s actress, but it's just not coming to me.

She reminds me of a blonde Hillary Swank.

  7. I swear, when Ragnar gave Athelstan his bracelet back, they looked like they were getting engaged.  And Ragnar using his body to shield Athelstan from the archer--how sweet.  I kept thinking about that old Supremes song "I've got him back in my arms again, right by my side.  Got him back  in my arms again.  So satisfied."

I wish Athelstan would kick Floki's ass, once and for all.  Actually, considering what he's been through, I think he could take Floki now.

Horny princess is getting on my nerves now.  I saw the horndog look she gave Ragnar and I was so glad to see her face fall when he didn't show up at Ecbert's.

I laughed at the look on Ecbert's face when Aella and his fat ass waded into the bath.  I shudder to think how much peeing goes on in there.

I feel like the show is trying to manipulate me into liking Aslaug. I don't like it when shows do that to me. It just makes me go in the opposite direction.

I know.  And I am annoyed by that.  She was just too nice and it was just too much.

  8. It was interesting to see Sisaundra do country, and I thought she did well.  However, there were some parts where she held on to some notes too long, imo, and you could tell that she wanted to wail but she restrained herself.

I love to listen to Josh's voice but I don't like looking at him.

I think Shakira is adorable, and I love her voice.  However, I just don't think she's suited for this show and it makes me sad to watch her losing out on contestants.

  9. I saw the one in Coober Pedy, Australia.  I could have sworn I heard in the voiceover that the temperature can swing 70 degrees in a day?  I felt sorry for the wife and kids living all alone out there in the desert.  She was very understanding.  I hope he's  making good money working in the mines so that makes it all worth it.  Hopefully, they get to go to town on a regular basis.

  10. I've seen all kinds of torture in movies and on TV, but dumping that poor bastard upside down in the ice hole was just...awesome and horrific and inventive at the same time.

I agree about the deaf guy being both funny and scary.  Was it my imagination, or was the fringe on that jacket awfully long?

While I like the female deputy, I kinda agree with Lester that she was just a little too aggressive in her questioning.  I hope she doesn't turn into the annoying cop who makes you root for the villain.  You can tell she's green, because a seasoned cop would just watch him and give him enough rope to hang himself.  The chief was right to call her on it, even though he's got blinders on just about everything else.

  11. I hope Zoey contacts Sharon and/or Michelle, and goes to America.  I'm just sick of the "dead Den" storyline.

The Dot/driving instructor story was cute, but again, it dragged on much too long.

Johnnie does seem to want to go legit.  Wonder how long that will last.

  12. My biggest complaint about the cooking segments is that the stupid hosts are always rushing the chefs.  I wish the producers would cut out some of the silly stuff and give the chefs enough time to have a meaningful segment.  I dream about a time when a chef gets disgusted, throws down the dish towel, and just walks off the set.

  13. Jenny's boyfriend was so nice and earnest and in love with her, that I wasn't at all surprised that he died. *sniff*  And while Sister Monica Joan's poem to Jenny was nice, she was bordering on creepy when she was holding Jenny's hands.  I know she's got dementia, but still...

I did enjoy the Jewish family though.

  14. The movie Fargo is playing Monday night on the FXM Channel (I've got Verizon and it's channel 232) at 8 pm, and then again at 10 pm.  As others have said, I highly recommend it.

    Edit:  8 pm Eastern

  15. Yup. I also think Mama & Daddy were working together the whole time.

Hmmm...never thought of that.  Although it did strike me as strange that she most certainly could have killed him, but didn't.  Mama Pope wouldn't have missed with a knife.  Plus, they gave each other strange looks when she was sitting in that hole.  I was half expecting him to climb down there and get it on with her after everyone left.

  16. I find her character ridiculous.  It's difficult to believe a woman like this would be tolerated.

I think those guards tolerated her pretty good.

  17. As much as I love this show, sometimes I get confused because I miss a lot.  For example, I couldn't figure out if Horik ambushed Ecbert's men on his own or if Ragnar knew about it.  I was a little disappointed in Lagertha for siding with Horik instead of Ragnar, although I was glad that Rollo sided with him.  Or was Lagertha just playing Horik?  As I said, I get confused sometimes.

I love how Born is becoming quite the grownup, declaring his love for the slave girl (can't remember her name).  It was also nice that Lagertha gave her smile of approval when she found out they were a couple.

The vegetarian nymphomaniac princess was a hoot, as was poor King Ecbert "surrendering" and letting the guards take his place.

    And flaming pig's heads!
