But now that all the logistics are underway, and I am emotionally processing that my little Mommy, my favorite being is being kept alive by a machine, all I asked of her was that she tell me directly and explicitly when she doesn't want dialysis any more (whenever that day comes) and we can schedule hospice. (Not thinking that is going to happen tomorrow, or next week- but given her age and other health complications this is likely a 3-5yrs situation).

Oh that is so hard.  I'm shedding a few tears for you.  I remember how it hit me with my Mom's diagnosis that barring unforeseen accident, we now knew how the rest of Mom's life would go and had a vague schedule.  I'm glad you're keeping your vacation.

So they are congenial with Amy and Chris. I've been gone for a while, what is their problem with Matt?

They've never said exactly, but it was the negotiation about possible sale of a portion of the farm.  Things went very sour.  From what Zach and Tori said, several nasty aspersions were lobbed their way during their negotiation with Matt and it seemed things didn't go any better with Audrey and Jeremy.  The relationship with either son hasn't healed from that.

  3. I told my kids that I paid for educations not weddings.  I did end up buying the gowns or tux and shoes.  I also paid for the venues and some other things, but it was at my choice after they'd already set their plans.

That's what Kody might have done had not TLC been around to fund a few extravaganzas.  It's interesting which kids opted out of TLC filming so they could do what they wanted without interference.

  4. I think currently 39 weeks is full term.  The definitions started shifting a few years ago as too many unnecessarily early pregancies were being induced.  Frequently they do induce early when there is a blood disorder though.  Early term is the wording for 37 weeks 0 days to 38 weeks 6 days now.

Did Michael ever end up working as a nurse?  I can't imagine spending the time and money to become an RN only to continue working as a babysitter for what I'm sure is peanuts compared to the $30-35/hr that RNs make, on average, in Knoxville.

Michael did not study to get her RN.  She did an LPN program. It stills seems a waste, but she did it through a community college and it did distract her from the infertility stuggles some.

  6. I broke my hand last year to where it needed surgery.  I ended up 8 weeks in a cast so a week shy of two months and then therapy so I was four months until back to normal.  I was doing a little bit more every day beginning about four days after surgery though.

However, I don't know what attracts people to MacArthur. Perhaps he's an engaging speaker? I don't think Jeremy is, from what I hear.

IMO, MacArthur is not engaging.  I've suffered through a couple of sermons of his and the only thing he has going for him is that he communicates the rightness and certainty of what he's saying.  It's super easy if you aren't well churched in another tradition to be convinced he has THE answers.  Sadly for him, I'm a well catechized in a different system.  MacArthur drones on and on and on for close to an hour and has very little inflection in his voice, tells no jokes or interesting stories, and just tries to sound super educated.  Sound like anyone else we know?

As much as we've talked about how J&K do NOT invite her family over, it is noticeable that once in a while Kelton will say - I made a great brisket, it's more fun to cook for others, so we're having Josie's sister over - and it'll always be M&B that's invited.

I don't think Brandon is a moocher either so that's quite possibly a big part of why those two couples get along.  As opposed to the born to be grifters of Evan and Carlin.  Evan seems almost like he could teach Gil lessons.

I wonder if Josie and Kelton pay for the babysitting? Michael watches her kids a ton, yet she never extends that offer to Evan and Carlin. Kelton strikes me as the type of guy who doesn't like being indebted to anyone, so I can see him giving Michael something for keeping the girls.

I remember reading that Michael watches Josie and Kelton's children on a regular schedule and Michael considers that work as she is paid.
