  1. There is a clip of Meghan next week having a heart to heart with Jim's minor daughter about Vicki's mother's death. I find it in questionable taste as Hayley has never met Vicki or her mother and Hayley's mother is very much alive. Meghan as the adult to me, should not be dwelling on her husband's ex-wife's upcoming death. It is just wrong on every level. I wonder how Hayley's older sister feels about this being on TV?

I feel like Jim married Meghan as a tanny (nanny to a teenager).  I imagine he spends a fair amount of time with his younger children in St. Louis-if he chooses.

Their relationship is weird. Definitely not built on mutual self-respect. I think you're on to something. Jim treats her like an overly officious personal assistant. That scene where she kissed him and he ignored her really spoke volumes. So did the fact that she didn't seem to notice.

That housewives quiz video posted in the other thread really shows that she was a long-term fan of the show. I think she sees this as a springboard to fame.

  2. The reputation/general associations of particular Greek houses can vary pretty significantly from school to school (or, more specifically, from one archetype of institution to another) as this thread demonstrates. My experience with KKG has occurred within the context of private, socially conservative/traditional/heteronormative, somewhat academically aspirational colleges (think Duke, Vanderbilt, Dartmouth). In that domain, KKG follows the profile of what you'd imagine a stereotypically popular girls cohort to be: wealthy; well-groomed; prevailingly white and blonde; educated but kind of vapid; imposing and/or catty; cliqueish and self-important to the point of vague delusion (there's actually a book entitled "Why Princess Margaret Will Never Be a Kappa" or something similar). They are stereotypically unafraid to party but clean up well and on the angle for rich husbands. So, basically, they're like a Housewives cast member, only more composed, at least superficially. So, Meghan basically haha. I can totally see her and her sisters starting shit over stuff like how they spoke to each other on the phone; the shifting alliances and conflict are most of the entertainment value of mean girl dynamics. (As lillypforme notes, the rep of a house in, say, the SEC states may be different from the impression it exudes in disparate geographic area; fellating that wine dispenser after Tamra would definitely be a no-no, at least on national tv, and would indeed probably be frowned upon as "trashy".)

Ha, my friend who went to Duke described Delta delta delta folks that way. Interesting. My experience of sororities is limited to Legally Blonde :P so I really do not know anything.

  3. I knew Meghan had to be a KKG! I have no idea what their rep is specifically at Ole Miss but her persona is pretty consistent with the hauteur that's generally associated with the house ("She may be a princess, but she's no Kappa"; "Why Princess Margaret will never be a KKG"). I don't dislike Meghan at all but I do think she does telegraph as a basic in many respects.

I don't know anything about sororities (weren't big at my school and I avoided them). Can you tell me a bit more about why you think she acts like a KKG?

  4. When I skimmed Meghan's blog she name dropped Valentino and said her brother was his "friend." I don't know...was he in a Macy's ad? I always thought that was bottom-of-the barrel work for professional models. Isn't runway what they aspire to? Followed by editorials in top fashion magazines? I'm not curious enough to google him.

Meghan doesn't get it.  I m curious if Ha(ley) graduated or if she begins her senior year this year. Terrible for a child to have a parent as sick as LeAnn.

Meghan is very immature for her age. Maybe that's why Jimmy married her; she is easier to manipulate than someone his age.

  5. She was more delusional than anyone was, IMO.  I think Daniel knows his wife was drunk and high but Jo keeps pushing the issue saying there's no way.  He's awful pissed off for a man who believes his wife didn't do anything wrong.

I agree, but dad ignores the kid.

  6. I've watched it before because I love learning about schizophrenia.  I highly recommend the book "Is there no place on Earth for me?" by Susan Sheehan if you find the topic interesting.

As for this case, I don't know.  I've read so many theories that the parents have munchausens and their kids were just imaginative but then convinced they were sick.  I think they would have been given their own series on TLC but producers were too concerned something was up.

He hints at being angry about not getting more money from OWN here:
