`Binge watching is a wonderful thing.

You have something to look forward to in Season 19, Part 1, the episode called "Last Man Out".  To fully appreciate it, binge watch episodes in order.

OK, it's a good episode any time you watch it, but in order, it gives an additional smile.

    Thanks. Will do.

  2. And S13 ep 2 had Mark Gatiss, who wrote for Dr Who and Sherlock (and played Mycroft Holmes in Sherlock). I am having a wonderful time identifying the actors....

My husband and I are binge watching and are having a lot of fun saying, "isn't that so and so? "

  3. Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve had outfits that were a little different, but nothing you wouldn't see walking down the street in NYC. Thirteen's outfit is a costume, which, since she is different from the previous doctors, should be different. It seems to me that she is saying "I'm different, my clothes are different. Let's go have fun". Works for me.

Mainly, it is traditional that the Doctor's outfit should be quirky, standing out from the crowd even while aping human fashion - this costume certainly fits that brief.

It's definitely quirky and it looks right on Jodie Whittaker. I like it.

I wasn't convinced when Jodie was cast, but, with the addition of three companions and the new look, I'm going to like the show.

But, based on the number of posts you see on Facebook and elsewhere saying something like "I was left in a bus depot on (date) in (city) and want to find my parents" it must be somewhat realistic that adopted children want to find their real parents.

Yes. Non-adopted people know the relatives going back a long way. They may know that they have Mom's nose, Dad's smile and Uncle Bob's eyebrows. They know their history, which is something adoptees don't know. We don't know anything about our pasts. It can be very lonely, not having any "blood' relatives. I know who I am, I wanted to know my past. (And, yes I do now).

I thought maybe on the "MFU" ring tone that maybe Jimmy could have it, and Ducky telling him it was a catchy tune.

That would be cute, especially with all of us that would recognize it

Liked Tim visiting Gibbs in the basement, and Leroy cleaning out a screw jar for a drink. .

Doesn't he usually do that whenever anyone comes into the basement?

Thought Ducky's ringtone would be as my son stated, "The Man From Uncle" theme.

    Ringtone is Scotland the Brave

  8. Now that I think about it, they did say 'ring' although we saw Matthias arrest only Prosser and the Medical Examiner who buried Dr Vaughn's body. Okay, I'm ready for more Hinterland and more Shetland. More Wallender, Miss Fisher and Murdock.

  9. WOW! Just WOW! What a season finale! (Series finale?) Loose ends satisfyingly tied up. I still like Prosser even though he killed two people. He was torn between his duty as a cop and direct orders from a superior. He chose badly but we are all guilty of that at some point.

One quibble though. I have never heard of a pedophile abusing both girls and boys. Don't they usually favor one or the other?

Moving on (as if!) - the rumor mill for her companion has started. British tabloids hand the part to Kris Marshall

I'd think Kris Marshall would be way to expensive what with him coming off the successful Death in Paradise. Plus, he'd probably have no trouble getting the lead role in something else.

Yes, but what if...? He is better known than Jodie Whitaker. Maybe this is a marketing ploy. For all those folks who wanted a white male Doctor, we would have Companion KRIS MARSHALL.  For all the folks who wanted a woman Doctor, we have JODIE WHITAKER. Wouldn't this please pretty much everybody?

I was against a female Doctor until we actually got one, so now I'm (also) cautiously optimistic. (Funny how that phrase keeps popping up.)  I liked the reveal, because I do think we needed to see her as the Doctor.  She really did nail it without saying a word.

Exactly. I couldn't have put it any better.

I haven't read any other forums, websites, etc, but what I am seeing on this forum is a few Yessss, this is the best thing that could have happened and a few Nooooo, this is the worst thing that could have happened and mostly, I wasn't expecting this but I'll watch and see how she does.

I'm sure that next season will be a return of a beautiful young woman companion despite the fact that the fans loved Donna and we also loved Bill (Pearl is adorable btw, but you know what I mean) and Nardole

Someone upthread said that there were exit interviews or goodbye interviews with both Matt Lucas and Michelle Gomez, but nothing from Pearl Mackie.  Wondering if Pearl is staying on. If we get a woman Dr, the romance possibility would be there, obviously, while a youngish handsome man would bring in the younger women  watchers without the romance possibilities. Hmmmmm......

I just started watching on Amazon Prime with my daughter's encouragement.  She has seen everything from 9-11 (she doesn't like 12)  I just finished Season 1 and am 2 episodes into season 2.  I cannot imagine liking a doctor more than Eccleston.  He sucked me right into the series.  I am a fan of David Tennent (LOVED him in Jessica Jones) and am looking forward to seeing more of him, but wish I could have seen more of Eccleston.

I really liked Eccleston and didn't like Tennant until several episodes in. Then, I really liked Tennant and didn't like Smith until several episodes in. Then, I really liked Smith and didn't like Capaldi until several episodes in. Now, I like all of them for different reasons. Capaldi in Season 10 with Bill is not the same Capaldi in Seasons 8 and 9 with Clara.

By the way, you may want to watch Broadchurch with David Tennant.

  14. When the Dr was on the roof with Bill, he was talking about the Master and how he had once had a mancrush on him. Didn't he say this might have been when he was a woman and something about Time Lords being fluid with gender?(This may not have been exactly what he said, but that was how I interpreted it).  Maybe we are being prepared for a woman Dr.

But in light of my disappointment with season 12, and now knowing that this little pilot has been on the back burner, it does at least seem possible to me that their focus was on the shiny new toy (as Pondlass1 said), and not on the show that I'm interested in watching.

It will also annoy me if Wayward Daughters/Sisters/Whichever gets all of the great little monster-of-the-week episodes that I've been clamoring for SPN to get back to, and we're stuck with the Lucifer chronicles as we limp along to the finish line.

    This. Exactly.

Best line of the show.  We need to start a thread of all these great lines.  I've been saving up.

Yes please. Does anyone know how? (I don't).

Missy: I've just been executed. Show some respect!

This is something I always never wanted to say but I agree with you. The whole finale that just aired was kind of it, well, like they were out of ideas so why not murder/banish everything possible and sort it out later. Like just having character deaths will some how make it more gripping.

Season seven had a finale that had a desperate feel to it still without all the deaths and pointless 'lets be on another plane of existence for a while' for a couple characters. The Levi were from Purgatory, it made sense for them to take bystanders as a consequence for killing something so big as the leader. The whole set up was blown at the start of season eight but you wanted to know what happened to Sam, what he did. Why Dean was alone in monster heaven. If Kevin was safe or if he was going to die.

This one well, it's just nothing. They kill off side characters and resurrect everyone to the point where death just feels like a pointless revolving door now. And Lucifer being barely more threatening than an angry spirit just doesn't do it for me. Let alone the whole Sproutifer storyline that I just don't care about because the writing has done so little to make me care.

They desperately need new writers who go off, binge watch the show, take notes and write everyone with some modicum of sense. And then take those characters and put them in a story arc that invests the viewer because right now - it's all sort of meaningless and as I said in the spoiler/spec thread, I can see where this road is going and I'm not sure I want to keep traveling down it.

Bolding mine. Dabb and his writers haven't written anything to make me care. Lucifer? Same song, second verse, a little bit louder and a whole lot worse. British Men of Letters? Bah, Humbug.  Kill off Crowley, Rowena and Cas, but not really except for Crowley and maybe Rowena? WTF?  I've been a Super fan for a long time but now? I'm sorry Jim Michaels, Andrew Dabb and company, but I'm...........bored.
