  1. I agree with Ken about Constance Wu. This may be the season where Ken knows things.

S’more didn’t sound as strong tonight.

    Spoiler

If Pickle isn’t Michael Rapaport, my ears are broken. Sometimes you can’t hide a voice.
I think Cow is Ne-Yo and S’more is Ashley Parker Angel.

  2. There was an interesting episode to be had here but once again the focus is off. A new-ish business struggling to find its way could make for a great episode. This was all about Bobby's big personality instead of the business. The owner knows his problem is his EC but refuses to act in any way.

Gordon re-writes the menu without any input from the EC and then hours later Bobby has to cook that menu for a full house. Restaurants do soft family and friends launches for a reason. A twelve-top on the same day they launch their new menu? Bobby was a serious problem but there was absolutely no support for him before or after Gordon. He was probably embarrassed. And for 100K, he needs to be accountable for the kitchen but that was still shitty.

  3. I can't imagine a more fun cosplay for a group of women than that Betazoid trio with the fancy dresses and the big cups! If there are not pictures of multiple groups from next year's STLV, I will be so sad. This show find ways to have so much fun with the established canon while still telling strong stories. I will never get over my delight.

Even with that huge menu it's obvious that they don't sell half of what's on it, which is why food is going bad.  I watched all of "Kitchen Nightmares" when it was on previously but I forgot how it didn't really focus that much on the budgetary issues.  I got used to the approach on "Restaurant Impossible" where Robert Irvine would take them aside and talk about how much money they were wasting on food that was going bad.  I admit I'm seeing this show as glossing over a lot of the important issues now and realizing it was probably always that way, I'm just expecting more now than I once did.

This is what frustrates me about this show. I don't need a whole 15 minutes on how disgusting the meat is. I got it right away. The moment I saw there were no dates on any of the food, I knew.

I think there would be a much better chance of lasting change if the owners or chefs sat down with Gordon and actually realized the losses they were taking on some of those dishes. Go through the sales and figure out what makes money, what is popular and what can and should be cut from that huge menu. People care about their money so it's much easier to get it through their head when they see where the money is just going in the garbage.

For me, an ideal diner menu is about two pages. The first the all-day breakfast and the second the lunch/dinner options. I don't go to a diner for lobster. Their menu is still a disaster.

  5. My Gazelle guess is

    Spoiler

Evan Rachel Wood. She was in The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke based on the preview episode clue and she's sung on the soundtracks for Across the Universe and Frozen II. And I just get a vibe, age wise, that the Gazelle is younger than Tia.

I thought she was less manic than Erin used to be. BTW, how many skybox interviewers have we had by now? First was Samantha, then Brooke, then Erin right? Am I forgetting anyone?

Lisa Canning in that first season as well.

Apparently the judges submit their scores BEFOFE they hold up the paddles.  Maybe someone in the control room passed the leader info to Alfonso before they were supposed to?

Yep, the judges submit their scores as soon as the dance is done before they start their comments. Watch Carrie Ann - she is the one who collects the scores from the other judges and passes them to the producer who runs the scores to whoever does the graphics. Sometimes you can see her handing them over if someone takes too long to decide.

Also it has happened where a judge grabs the wrong paddle but its the score that is submitted after the dance that counts.

  8. What I got out of this episode was that Alyson Hannigan was absolutely correct to tell Joss Whedon that she shouldn't do any dancing in the musical episode of Buffy.

I'll be cheering for Jason Mraz. He went for it in a way that most celebrities don't in the first week when nerves are such a big factor. He's joyous. I also feel like Xochitl, Ariana, Lele and Mira are all going to be great. I think for an older competitor, Barry Williams has potential to make it farther than most older contestants which would be fun. Tyson was someone I expected to be stronger so that was a disappointment.

I don't really know anything about Ariana and the scandal around her beyond her basic description but I do know about her revenge dress and I thought it was great how costuming here referenced it.

Harry and Rylee may be good. I couldn't even tell because I was so distracted by that version of Rock Your Body. It felt like it was so much faster than the original.

I think it's rather garbage that they didn't mention at all that Matt Walsh had stepped back from the show in solidarity with the WGA and had much less rehearsal time. I know that it was his choice but I think people may have been willing to cast him a few votes to see what his potential could be if he had the same amount of time as everyone else.

I just want Adrian Peterson and Jamie Lynn to go home but I fear both will be around for a while. And him first since he's leagues worse than her as a human but I don't enjoy awful people on this light, fun dance show. I don't know why the casting continues to do this. Except I watch so I guess I do know why they do this.

I'm looking forward to the tribute to Len that they said was coming in a few weeks. I hope they extend invitations to everyone involved with the show to participate. Tom especially should at least be given the chance but there have been so many co-hosts and cast members who left the show under not the best circumstances and I hope the producers aren't petty about this. Even Tyra, who I hate, should be invited to participate.

There was no tension at all, because there has been no attempt to hide the fact that Bishme was TCO. Not that it bothered me. I think he's a deserving winner.

I too like Bishme but it was pretty clear who was winning when his finale storyline was a heartstring-tugger like grieving his sister while Laurence's was "what to do with that purple fabric?" and Brittany's was "making elevated athletic-wear just like all season long." The weight of those stories was so unbalanced that there was zero doubt in my mind who was winning.

I'm fine with Bishme's win...especially so since it was basically the entire focus of this season, but I was seriously underwhelmed by his collection. Even his final look (which was his best) was very Christian-like and (dare I say?) referential. I hated the picnic table outfit, even if it had a attractive-to-me 60s vibe. But I called it the Italian restaurant tablecloth outfit. Instead of that instantly forgettable clutch, she should have been swinging a Chianti bottle from her finger. The drapy white things looked like shrouds and the slits were way too high.

The big poofy tulle dress has been a fashion staple forever at this point. Christian has this one for sale right now. It's not a new concept in the slightest but I do think Bishme's was well done. The waist hit at a sweet spot proportionally, the tulle wasn't too big or too small and the bodice was interesting visually.

PR used to be appointment tv for me, until the latter seasons when it seemed to be more about drama and personality, and the frequent one-day challenges and low budgets just resulted in uninteresting, glued-together messes. So I was pleased that this season seemed to be different - more creative, more time, more money. I have really enjoyed this season, and it was frustrating to get all the way to the end, only to find they were given 8 days. From what I noticed, the designers fell back to making garments similar to things they'd made prior to the season.

Eight days was way too tight for eight looks, model casting, the hair and makeup commercials/consultations and whatever behind the scenes stuff that also takes up time we don't see. It didn't leave any time to think about the looks, edit, start over if something wasn't working. I think everyone had a few duds in their collections and that was because there just wasn't enough time. Even if they'd given them two weeks it probably would have resulted in much stronger work. They had to go and buy everything on the first day. Who even had time to conceptualize at that point?

I watched Christian's aftershow with Bishme and was surprised that Bishme insisted on flirting with sexual innuendo. He only had a few minutes to make a final impression, and this is how he behaved? Maybe too much booze?

They both have been joking around all season with a hint of flirting. I think they're friendly and they're both comfortable with how they interact with each other.

(Sigh, yawn) yet another season PR is finished.   I certainly hope for Season 21 that they will find  new judges.  Nina is alright, but Elaine & Brandon need to go.  I would love to see Zac return.

I would love to see new judges. I think Nina and Elaine are redundant. Two editors? They're coming at this from the same angle. Brandon just feels very disengaged. They need a new designer, only one of Nina or Elaine (and I'd prefer to keep Nina) and someone who works in a different area of fashion. Either someone who does construction, someone from the CFDA, a fashion photographer, someone in high end retail, an accessories designer. There are some real options out there who could bring something more to the table than judges who are often absent or Elaine who picks a favourite and then is a booster rather than a judge.

I still can’t believe Tom didn’t cut his throat. Maybe there is honor among thieves.

And I still cannot figure out what Cousin Greg did for a living. He seems to have even less skills than the other four idiots. Penchant for gossip?

Tom needs Greg to be his pain sponge. Greg was an executive assistant but he's probably end up as a senior advisor with a huge raise. Tom will take care of him because Greg can actually be his outlet for emotions. It's telling that when Logan died, Tom only cried when he was on the phone with Greg. And I don't think that was just about Tom worrying about his own future. Crouching next to someone dying while CPR is happening is traumatic and he held it together for the kids but he could be open with Greg. He needs Greg as his release valve and their weird friendship works.

I don't think anyone died. I remember he was relieved because it was less of a hassle with no fatalities. I could be wrong but pretty sure it was an unmanned rocket.

I couple of thumbs. Not great but could have been way worse and Roman got very lucky.

    Roman becomes a "Jeffery Epstein".

I don't know. Besides Roman having way to many sex hang ups, he's the one who could see that it was all bullshit. He's going to end up some weird mix of Ewan and Caroline now that he's let go of Logan. The Ewan part will the the guy alone, far from his family and estranged from them. The Caroline part will be that he will swan around luxurious places (I don't see him living in one place the way Ewan lives in Montreal. He loves those PJs.) He's going to be aimless and bitter but convince himself that he's happy.

Also... why is Greg getting $200,000 for doing nothing (except getting coffee, sushi and lemon LeCroix)?

He doesn't even do that anymore.

Agreed. Tom is just plausible enough. But I see him let go in a few years. Corporate reshuffling.

That's probably just fine for Tom. The truth is once you reach that level, the money and the future opportunities are so good that you don't even need to stay CEO for all that long to prosper. Tom is a rich, white man who has ascended to the absolute heights of power. Now, like Shiv, he'll always be okay.

I think we have an example of what older Georgie was talking about on BBT:  that Sheldon didn't realize everything that was going on because everyone else thought he couldn't take it.  He's going to Germany and won't care about what's happening at home because he's so self centered.

Sheldon isn't an idiot and even the worst interpretation of his personality would suggest he knows the difference between his Meemaw's house and his house. The place where all his stuff is. The stuff just last week he cared about too much to part with. The place where he lives and expects to return to in a few months with nothing untouched because he's that anal. His computer and trains are there. He knows the difference. Not to mention that he would know what house got hit when he returns home and his house is the exact same while Connie's house is not.

So either this show isn't actually connected to TBBT or there's another tornado coming. I will never be convinced that Sheldon got objective facts wrong. Subjective things like George being a drunk (because to Sheldon any drinking is too much drinking) sure, but I am certain he can tell the difference between two different houses.

  14. If Connie doesn't start laundering her money through her cash intensive no inventory business I am going to lose it! Or at the very least buy a big safe. Even gun safe wouldn't draw too much attention and would be more secure than a box of Raisin Bran. She is maybe the dumbest criminal out there.

Also, time for Georgie to start getting paid more. Connie is just sitting on stacks of cash and Georgie is still living in a garage? And needs a salary advance to pay for a ring. He should be asking for a bigger cut.

Missy's pain and then her revelation at the end were done so well. I knew they weren't going to die but I was still scared for them. I'm not surprised Missy still snuck out of the house. Being grounded for the summer is a long time to not go out. I do hope she stopped smoking at least.

My take on Tom is that he's just smart enough to oversee/delegate day-to-day operations in the sphere to which he's assigned, just smart enough for Logan to use as a conduit for information from & to the "rats," just smart enough to pick a side (Logan's) even if it means ratting out his own wife in order to be on the winning side of the GoJo merger.  But will Tom be smart enough to keep his position after the buyout/merger?  At Waystar, he's failed upwards so long as he's backed Logan - who knows after the buy-out?

My understanding after watching this episode is the deal is more like the Disney-Fox situation and ATN is being carved out and kept by Logan so Tom might not have to worry about Go Jo. That being said, if that's all Logan has, he'll be all over it and will make things even harder for Tom and Cyd.

  16. For a very, very weird reason I know who the Macaw is.

There was a moment in his clue package where he's talking and takes a very noticeable gasp-y breath and my brain remembered.

    Spoiler

It's David Archuleta from American Idol season 7. He did that gasp thing all the time. It was the reason I didn't want him to win! Plus the other clues fit. Silver medal for coming in second, pushy stage dad, performing as a kid. Being a quiet and humble person. Plus the big life change is him recently coming out. And while his voice has changed a bit as he's matured, those high notes are still the same. I love this for him.

Assuming that's true, why turn the plane in the opposite direction and fly another five hours until fuel ran out? Why not just ditch the plane in the middle of the south China sea? Does anyone have a theory why he would do something that odd? Is it because there's some sort of fail safe on the plane that prevents a pilot from just crashing it on purpose? Did he have to wait until it ran out of fuel?

My guess, and obviously it's just a guess, is that he wanted to make sure the plane wasn't found. If it could be proven that he intentionally took down the plane, then if he had life insurance, that won't pay out. His estate might even be liable in wrongful death-type lawsuits. Plus there's the social stigma of being the kid of a mass murderer. Making sure the plane isn't found protects his family.

  18. On one level I hate Nate and his assholish ways but I do find the plot interesting and realistic. Nate spent two years watching Ted and Beard build a team and learned not one damn thing about it. That idiot line or whatever he called it will destroy morale. The only thing these players will unite around is a hatred for Nate. He's already is so much trouble and he has no idea. It's fascinating to watch.

The sewer tour didn't bother me. Ted and Beard were right. Nothing positive was going to be accomplished in that practice with everyone in such an awful mood. Breaking out and teaching them some more about teambuilding was the very best use of their time. I wish Ted had explained himself better to Rebecca but I don't think he was wrong for calling the practice and using the time to strengthen the team. Ted does need to get a bit of killer instinct and a desire to win going but the foundation is a team that are all working together for the same goal.

Roy and Keeley bum me out because these feels very artificial. Was Phoebe wearing her headband ridiculously low or is that the style with the youth of today? It just seemed like it was basically on her forehead.

The Press Conference was masterful. Ted was nice because being nice is the right thing to do. You never lose the high ground by being kind. I honestly don't know if Ted fully understands how dark Nate is and just how much that approach was going to destroy him but I know he did have a sense of it and knew that it would win in the press at least. He was able to be true to himself and win. Hopefully not for the last time this season.

....Yeah, I can see that. She's a pretty good singer, and that does fit some of the clues. I'll need to rewatch her performance to be sure, though.

I think she fits a lot of the clues. She has a famous dad with a connection to the theme. Her first TV appearance was Sesame Street. She was in 21 Jump Street for the cop badge. She was in Hangin' With Mr. Cooper for the Basketball. She studied at the Sorbonne. It really does fit.

  20. This was pure trash. I feel for the families but this isn't some huge conspiracy and its wrong to act like those options are all equally viable. I do think Jeff Wise and de Chegney are awful people using a tragedy to promote themselves and make money.

It's sad but the most likely cause was a pilot murder suicide. No one wants that to be true because its scary to think that every time people get on a plane that could happen but it could and does happen sometimes. We all want to believe that we can see when someone is in trouble but we can't. We all want to believe that killing over 200 people is the act of someone pure evil and they can't hide in plain sight but mental illness isn't that easy.

I do think the Malaysian government was slow to act when the plane went missing. I do think they aren't being fully honest about the likelihood of Zaharie being the culprit and have suppressed some of his personal information because of liability. But that's not a conspiracy. It's incompetence and greed.

Blaine Gibson was a bit doofy but he's right that the US, China, Malaysia, Australia etc. have not all gotten together to cover something up. A conspiracy on this scale is impossible. We may never get all the answers but I know this isn't it.
