  1. That bottom two was dumb. Anteater was too good to be in the bottom. I would have had Donut there, though either way Hibiscus was going home. She just isn't on the same level as the other contestants this week.

I was spoiled for her reveal but I would never have remembered Luann existed without that.

My guesses for the other three:

    Spoiler

    Donut - David Hasselhoff

    Anteater - John Oates

    Candelabra - Keyshia Cole

This, 1000%.  And deep down, in his own stupid way, he was probably hoping for another place where he could run away and hide when he felt the need to escape the Dark Queen and her flying monkeys for a little while.  Now, he's well and truly stuck.  And I love it.

Plus we all know Kody cares deeply about a shower and Janelle's main bath looked nice. He wants the space to pamper himself and get away from the noise of the chicken tenders (really just Ari. Sol seems so quiet.) He thought for a second that he'd found it. Janelle didn't budge though and it was delightful.

This Gangnam Style dance is a blast — wish I could dance like this.  Fun!

If Harry can do it, you can too!

Please, please, please let this be Brandon's last season. He is a very weak pro and has squandered too many talented stars over the years. He doesn't have it. Lele should have been a dark horse for the finale but the choreography is so boring.

Harry was far and away the worst dancer again. Lance said be bouncy and loose and Harry was flat footed and hunched over. In the group dance, he's just throwing his arms away with no polish or finish or awareness that they're attached to his body. And I agree about his attitude; this is a joke to him. He isn't putting the work in to improve.

Barry and Alyson aren't ever going to be competitive in his season but every week they are trying and they are improving at their own pace. I respect that in a way that I can't respect Harry.

Ariana had my favourite dance this week. The choreography was a bit messy trying to combine the music video moves with her dance but she was so committed.

My issue with Charity's performance is that she doesn't act while she dances. Her face has these dead moment that make her look drained. If she could just master her face, I think the audience and judges would feel her performances more. She can move but that's what I'm missing.

  4. The trend that I'm seeing this season is that every owner or manager just sees these restaurants as a way to get money or have a place to hang out. No one seems to have any understanding of how a restaurant works, how a kitchen functions, what food tastes good or bad etc. I don't expect owners to be trained chefs but why own a restaurant if you don't care about food?

The Juicy Box is a mess. No silverware? No juicer? A walk-in broken for months full of rotting food and flies? Can't make payroll? I honestly think getting on this show was just a way to get a renovation/repairs and then they'll sell. Those two kids don't give a fuck about the restaurant. Q is maybe an alcoholic (I wonder how much money was going out the door in shots for himself and his friends) and if Zappy actually works at that restaurant, I would die of shock because she had no serving skills.

A google search tells me the restaurant currently opens at 11am and the Juice Bar at 10am. So Q hasn't changed and is missing out on major income. The website also has a header that says "24/7 HAPPY HOUR 🎉🍻" so that fills me with no hope.

  5. I was grinning from ear to ear the entire episode. How this show, with its shorter run time, has really developed these characters and worldbuilding is so very impressive. Everyone got their moment, even Migleemo, although it ended poorly. I was so proud of Mariner when she stood up for Federation values even if she doesn't always agree with the leadership decisions and when she apologized to her friends. The Twain callback was perfect! Tendi's sacrifice just as she got T'Lyn to agree to be Science Besties was so powerful. ACTING CAPTAIN BOIMLER! I'm surprised he didn't die of joy on the spot.

Bringing back Locarno was such a great decision. On a character level he's very much the dark path version of Mariner. She's been lucky (and likely benefiting from her nepo-baby status) that her antics haven't gotten her kicked out at some point but she could have become bitter and angry and self-important. The thing is at her core she loves the ideals of the Federation and that, along with her friendships, keep her grounded.

Plus, Robert Duncan McNeill! And Wil Wheton and Shannon Fill! I love that with an animated show we don't have to worry about how old someone really is. Their voices don't sound the exact same but it's close enough. It's nice to play with some Trek history.

When SNW was airing, I was convinced it was my favourite new series, but then LD comes back and I know it's this. But when SNW comes back (or Prodigy which was really getting good in the back half of season 1) I may  change my mind again. We have so many options now. I love it.

  6. And if it's hard to arrange Zoom calls with 20+ people, do they not have facetime? Why isn't Kody facetiming his different kids? A normal person would just facetime or send a text to confirm a time when they'd be available. Ari doesn't remember his siblings? Call them and let her look at Aspyn's face or whatever. Send Gabriel a birthday gift in the mail and call him to have him open it. That would of course mean knowing when Gabriel's birthday is but we have calendars so they could pull it off if they cared.

It didn't happen because it was all a sham anyhow. Robyn doesn't care to be involved with the rest of the family in any real or close way. I do think she wants to be head wife and see the rest of them a couple of times a year as the queen of the family. I think her dream is to be sitting on a dais surrounded by her chicken tenders while the other wives and children pay homage to her before she feeds them Kody's favourite turkey.

And Kody doesn't think its his responsibility to maintain family relationships. He's number one on the call sheet and they should all be coming to him. It doesn't even sound like Kody even texts his kids which is wild. He's just too important to put in any effort and since he's such a fucking delight they should all be eager to impress him and get a smidge of his attention.

Why should they get that?  If they were serious about playing the game, they'd have done the prep ahead of time just like those of us who've been contestants on the regular game.  If they didn't, they shouldn't get extra help on the day of.

Because a race for the bottom isn't good viewing.

You can't hold the celebrities to the same standard as the regular competitors. They aren't serious about playing the game and I appreciate that. This isn't their lifelong dream. They aren't playing for real money. They're there to be entertaining and raise awareness and funds for a charity. It would benefit the show if the producers spent an extra five minutes (when they already are doing buzzer prep) talking about how to read the clues and how to decide how much to wager.

And I'm not in the studio so maybe they're already getting that sort of coaching and most of the celebrities are just too dumb to benefit. I just think the difference between a bad and a good Celebrity Jeopardy game is if its competitive so the producers should be trying to make the players as strong as possible in the little prep time that they do get.

Facinelli, who fucked up the "cheesesteak" clue, readily admitted he did zero prep for CJ.  He doesn't need coaching.  Some celebs are just there to get their charities some air time and the minimal $30K.

I'm not talking about at home studying. My understanding is that they do a bit of a practice round before they start the actual game to get a feel for the buzzer and stuff. I just think for the celebrities who aren't all going to be Jeopardy nerds that a bit more coaching in that 10-15 minutes about a few specific things would be helpful. Sheryl had no business wagering as much as she did in the composer playlist category seeing as she didn't know any answers in the category up to that point.

I know that most of the celebrities are there to have fun, but I can't imagine any of them like getting very obvious questions wrong or ending up in the negative and getting pity money. For the most part, people don't like to look dumb. And for the ones who don't care at all, they can just ignore the advice.

I don't think Mauricio went because of the drama with his marriage, I just don't think many people knew who he was.

It's probably a bit of both. He probably didn't have a huge fanbase to begin with since he's the husband of a Housewife and not very well-known by the general public. And then in the subset of fans he did have, more of them are probably fans of Kyle who supported him while she was supporting him. Since she isn't supporting him anymore, he lost those votes.

I didn't realize they permanently did away with Switch-Up Week, was that back in 2020 for COVID-related reasons or was it something else?

The pros hated it. They could not stand it and the fan comments about who was a better teacher and fit for their star plus they were upset that they could go home on someone else’s work. I’m nearly certain they went to the producers and told them to get rid of the week. There hasn’t been a switch up night since season 22.

  11. Harry seems like a sweet kid but he's the worst dancer left by far. I don't understand where this voting base is coming from. Is he really that popular online?

The background during Alyson's dance was a library! I know with the strike she can't reference Buffy more directly than she did tonight so I loved that little touch.

I do understand why they axed Switch-Up Week but I just wish Lele could get some time with any other pro. I think Brandon is limited as a teacher and choreographer and if she could just get some time with someone who has a different style, we'd see dramatic improvements.

Hearing Janelle saying she had a different mindset and has Kody down as father on her kids birth certificates makes me wonder if Christine doesn't out of that fear.

I think Kody is on Christine's kids birth certificates because he had to sign off on Ysabel's surgery. We saw him snap at Christine when he was signing the different documents on his truck whatever season that was.

Can you imagine how dull it would have been had it NOT been her birthday?  As it was, it was painfully lifeless.  How tedious a regular night around there must be ...

The only interesting part of watching anything happen at Robyn's house is the chance it offers to survey the mountains of random crap she has accumulated (last night I learned she has an affinity for figural lemon decorations in her kitchen).  Oh, and we get to catch glimpses of how ... challenging ... Ariblahblah's behavior is.  That kid never quits.  I can't wait to see HER at thirteen!

My favourite thing is figuring out the self-film set ups. At first it was Robyn walking around with her phone. Then they must have had two phones on tripods to get different angles but of course the kids kept crossing in front of one of the cameras. Plus these aren't interesting people and they've all gotten too camera savvy. They won't give anything because they don't want to be criticized. And I don't blame the teens and young adults; who would want to be torn apart online for something they said at that age? I blame the boring as hell adults who signed up for this show but can't be bothered to produce any content. Why have we not seen Kody and Robyn have a one-on-one conversation about anything going on in their lives for the past few years? There are two adults who live together; they should have the easiest time producing relevant content since they don't have to come up with an excuse to meet up and yet they're the two where we get the least.

The twin announcement was self-filmed too. I had been quick to assume Robyn was pushing for it to keep the camera crew out of her house but now I really think that its TLC cheaping out. Why pay crew when you can buy a few tripods and hand them to each household? I really think its to the detriment of the show to go this route. Without a crew and producers there, these are dull people who give the bare minimum. Only having one or two cameras in fixed positions means we're missing things and because its self-film, who knows what's getting deleted before it goes to TLC. TLC has a hit and they are trying to get the most out of it for as little as possible but I think its going to kill the show. There is still drama there but there need to be producers and cameras in the homes way more often to catch it.

    Princess Mullet is bizarre!

She has absolutely no respect for other people’s personal space and she’s always jabbing, grabbing, lurching in and talking an inch from someone’s face…swinging her arms around like a windmill… making inappropriate comments… yikes!!!!!

The only good thing about her behaviour is she’ll probably be a million times worse as a teenager and drive Kody and Robyn crazy!!

Theres no way that kid will grow up to be a shrinking violet like Robyns other stepford children….I can’t wait for the shit to hit the fan!  👍🏻😂

I really have to wonder how much time she spends around kids her age. Part of that was covid but Robyn seems to keep her at home all the time. If she never socializes, she's never going to develop social skills. And maybe we're just not seeing the times Ari is socializing with kids her age because those parents won't consent to filming but she strikes me as a kid who needs to go to the park and run around with some other kids.

  13. I got emotional when Gene buckled down and wrote a song. Developing that discipline and work ethic when it comes to a creative pursuit is probably as important as having the passion and talent in the first place. The way he just kept working away (and the way his family supported him) was beautiful.

Not that he didn't work hard at lucid dreaming. I think he needed to hear the dream song just to know for sure otherwise it would always bug him. I'm glad he was able to recover it and recognize that it wasn't the masterpiece he hoped for.

The cricket thing is very real. We had one in our garage once and we could hear it at night. I felt for Linda in a very real way. The traps were hilarious. I hope they didn't get ants.

He may, but I don't think that was the vibe. The vibe was that he's a better, more authentic Christian because praying in Hebrew is more Jesusy. He was joining a bandwagon of people approximating Jewish practices in service of their Christianity. To be open-minded, you'd have to recognize that this tradition is foreign to you. He believed it was his to reclaim.

This. Nearly everything I know about the LDS church, I learned from South Park and The Book of Mormon so I'm hoping Matt and Trey aren't steering me wrong but Mormons believe that they are the descendants of "ancient Jews who built boats and sailed to America." Kody believes that he descends from the Twelve Tribes. He thinks by stealing Jewish customs, it makes him the most Jesus-like and chosen by God. That's why he keeps "cafeteria" kosher (and I call it that because no way he's ever kashered an inch of any kitchen in any home. He picks and chooses what laws he actually cares to follow.) and "celebrates" Jewish holidays. It's appropriative and gross.

  16. I don't know a single biographical fact about her but that's

    Spoiler

    Macy Gray's

voice, right? It's very distinctive. At moments I think she sounds amazing and at others, just awful. It's a memorable voice and she's clearly got a strong musicality but I totally get that her voice won't be for everyone.

Those Dolly Dingle curls don't come naturally....

I thought Robyn taught him the curly girl method? In the only moment of good parenting towards Truly that I can remember he offered to spend time with her and do her hair and explained how Robyn taught him about soaking his hair, putting in the product and creating and scrunching the curls etc.

He's bleaching it to hide the greys but I think he comes by those curls naturally.

They had over three million followers.  Sounds like they are mostly on Tiktok.  I've never been on that site so I'm not sure how it works, but I know on YouTube those kind of numbers would be massive, and they would be making a very good living.  Even the 800,000 the one brother had would be enough to be quite comfortable.

So yeah, I see your point that their focus is in building their own success.  I'm guessing that kind of notoriety tends to fade with your youth, but who knows how long the restaurant will last?  The mother acted like there was some expectation that the boys work there, so it sounded like they were drawing a salary from the restaurant for basically doing nothing.  But maybe I misinterpreted that.

They'd be making a good living on TikTok too. I checked them all out quickly and they're doing some sponcon mixed in with what I consider unfunny comedy videos. They're all also on instagram with fewer followers (The main brother had 127K followers). That's real money especially for young adults. It won't last forever; no one but the Kardashians can stay popular forever on SM. But if they don't blow it all on watches, vacations and other stuff, they can set themselves up for a comfortable adulthood.

Now, if they're pulling a salary that's another story. Then they need to work either in the restaurant or producing enough SM content to justify a salary. But the way Melissa was running things, I think the kids were all "owners" probably for feels. She wanted a family business so everyone in the family is an owner but on paper it's probably just her and her husband. Otherwise, keeping those younger two in the dark on the debt while their names are legally attached to the restaurant and they have actual assets is truly the shittiest move of all.

  20. I know the show wanted to frame the two younger sons as the villains this week (why every week needs a villain is a question) but frankly that mess is all on Melissa. She said over and over that she knew nothing about the restaurant business. Why did she think she could open and run a restaurant? The arrogance was astounding and Gordon treated her with kid gloves while treating those two boys who are 21 and under like this was all their fault. When she was going on at the end about how she finally knows what she's talking about, I rolled my eyes. And roping in her responsible 22 year old son to actually do the bulk of the work with no training and no support was awful.

The other two sons have over two million followers on social media. That doesn't happen by accident. They have worked very hard to build a successful brand and they absolutely should not tie themselves to the sinking ship that is their mother's shitty restaurant with frozen food and slow service. Plus, I'm going to assume they have worldwide followers; why constantly post about a shithole in New Jersey?

I guess I'm just never going to get over the arrogance of Melissa saying that because she had a family member who liked to cook, obviously a restaurant. She doesn't cook, she doesn't manage the financials, she barely does any service. And the whole time, Gordon was acting like she was some saint rather than the idiot sandwich the kids joked about.
