Doesn't this disqualify them? Rumple loved power more than Belle. We saw it in the finale. I like Rumple and Belle as a couple. But she is too enabling and he is too selfish for me to ever believe it is "True Love".

I don't think Rumple and Belle are true love. What exactly do they have in common with Snow / Charming, Aurora / Phillip or Abigail / Frederick? Doesn't true love have to be honest? Or is that optional? Ariel / Eric are True love. Ruby had a true love. Hook had a true love. It doesn't seem that rare. I think Cora's inability to take Emma's heart might have been tied to something else. Maybe because she was raised outside the Enchanted Forest.

Your right, as season 1 showed us, Emma broke the curse. But as you pointed out, it was only because Rumple chose her. Ruby could have broken the curse if Rumple had wanted her too. That alone shows that Emma wasn't special. Anyone Rumple picked could have broken the curse. It makes her less of a savior and more of a pawn, in my opinion.

There is a discussion because in S3, Rumple had no problem letting Zelena cast the curse (also cannon), and in that case Emma would not be the savior. So the idea that Emma was the "only one" that could break the curse is false. And as you pointed out, "It was built in by Rumpel", so obviously Rumple could have chosen someone else to break his curse.

So if Zelena had cast the curse like Rumple originally wanted they would have been cursed forever? Why would Rumple agree to that when the whole point of the curse was to get him to his son's land?

I just want to make sure I understand your point. Your saying Emma was the only person that could break the first curse? No matter what the circumstances where? And that Rumple had no control in choosing who broke his curse?

No one knows since it didn't happen. The point I made earlier was that Emma wasn't needed to break the curse. That was made clear in S3B.

I don't agree. Once the curse was cast and Emma was trapped in SB with everyone else she would not have been a threat. She could not have broken the curse. So why would Regina kill her? She wouldn't have a reason. Snow wouldn't have known who Emma was in SB. Not even going to argue about the wardrobe again because it was clear in both season 1 and 2 who is to blame for Emma being sent alone, and it wasn't Regina.

Awesome post. I have the same issues with Emma. I think her main storyline going forward will be her relationship with Hook.

I think so too. I think curse 2.0 was just to get them back to SB.

Because he wrote the curse that way. He added all the tricks to the curse. If he wanted to retain his memories he obviously could. He was the creator.

Where did I say she was blameless. I didn't. I was stating a fact. The curse was going to happen with or without Regina. Zelena and Rumple were planning it long before Regina was the Evil Queen. Long before Emma was even born. So do I think the Charming's had to sacrifice their baby for a curse Rumple planned years earlier? No. The Charming's were willing to sacrifice their daughters future to save themselves. That isn't noble. It's kinda sad. In my opinion. Of course Regina is responsible, she cast the curse. Rumple manipulated her but it was her choice to go ahead with it. Just like the Genie is responsible for killing Leopold. Same thing. Regina was wrong. Regina was evil. But that doesn't change the fact that Emma wasn't required to break the curse. As season 3B showed us.
