So the Millers want to be referred to as "Roma" but continue to call themselves Gypsies.
And as the author of a mod note stating that the posters here should call them Romani instead of Gypsies, I am quite annoyed!
I get that people can call themselves terms that are considered pejoratives and it can still be wrong to use the term, but I'm not going to enforce that mod note anymore. It's a judgment call. I still think Romani is the better term, but I'm not holding anyone to it any longer.

TAR 28 begins racing within days. I've set up two spoiler threads. One has location information only, and the other is for complete spoilers.
One thing to be aware of is that CBS may be making an early announcement of the teams. There's a reason for that -
they're all Internet celebrities of some sort. (Eww.)
After CBS announces the teams, we'll set up the team threads.
-
The next version of the Race starts in mid-November. This is the thread for discussing location spoilers only.
If you bring over a spoiler from another site, IT MUST BE CREDITED. Photos MUST BE CREDITED as well. Failure to do so will result in the posts being removed and warnings given to the violators.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me (I watch the spoiler threads) and at least one other mod from the PTV TAR team: GenL, Cooksdelight, Joanne3482.
Thanks!- 1

These people pop out so many damn kids I can't keep them straight.
We need a chart of some sort. I certainly don't know who's who, who's preggers, etc.

I think these shows like "big personalities" and encourage people to amp up what they can in order to achieve that. Or bring a sob story.

My dad would say that anything my mom made was the best food ever, and we'd joke that she could serve him dog food and he'd still say that. She's actually a good cook, but he was OTT in his praise, including when she had 3 teenagers, was in college herself, and made 1/2 our meals using Hamburger Helper. I mean really, that was junk!
Maybe they should do a series of "old foods" or convenience foods. Give them a box of de-labeled Hamburger Helper, some coleslaw in Jello, bologna, and Pringles, for example. I just grossed myself out, but they could do a "1960s food" series or something like that.
Anyway, I haven't actually watched this show for a while, I just come in and read the comments here - which are better than the show, quite frankly.

This entire network mystifies me, and now they're messing with one of my (former) favorite shows by bringing in one of my least favorite FN "personalities." The only one worse would be Guy F., and they're probably busy trying to figure out a version of Chopped for him.

So THIS is how the FN website describes the episode:
"A dessert made with lemon curd spells success for one young Chopped Junior competitor." Thank for spoiling the end, FN!
I am laughing so hard right now. Who runs this network? A bunch of 4-year-olds?

I have hidden the birth stories that are not about Jessa and only Jessa. That includes quotes.
Unless you are Jessa, do not post your birth story here. And unless your friend/relative with the interesting birth story is Jessa, do not post her birth story here. We have a Small Talk thread for that.
Thanks.

We're serious about not discussing insurance and/or politics here.
Do not quote posts that are in violation or you too will be in violation.
Warning points have been handed out, and to good posters that we like.
Don't make us do this again.
Jessa. Ben. The baby. The baby's arrival. The family's actions surrounding the baby's arrival. Those topics are fine. If you find yourself veering into something else, visit another thread. And if you find yourself getting into politics (including the pros and cons of the ACA), don't. Just don't. Not here. We won't have it.
Thanks.

The good news on the Guatemalan orphan front is that adoptions to the Us are still closed (which is partly why I am here so much). No Guatemala kid for them!
And they weren't that easy to begin with, despite publicity to the contrary. The Dillards wouldn't have qualified 14 years ago, let alone now.

This is the Jessa and Ben thread.
Please take your birth stories to the Small Talk thread, where you can also take your non-political insurance stories as well.
Anything with the slightest whiff of politics needs to go to another site altogether, not PTV.
Off-topic posts will be deleted without further notice. This includes hybrid posts that have something about Jessa and Ben tossed in as secondary.
Thanks!

I do like sex pest. It does trivialize his rather serious issues, but it's also a good put-down.

I find myself watching Chopped less and Cutthroat Kitchen more. CTK is stupid and I can feel my IQ plummet every time I watch the show, but it's also fun. Chopped has become predictable.

The re-edits involved taking the show's material and reorganizing it. Without the commercials. I'm not an attorney and I'm not going into an extended discussion here, but that's copyright violation, which is illegal and which PTV does not tolerate.
Further questions should go to the site administration in the Questions forum.

It really was good to see Eric again. Truffles are so tricky; there's very little middle ground with that ingredient.
I suppose every food show casting director thinks they need a person like Cody. I'd be happy without that, quite frankly.

Hey, folks- this is the media thread. If you could take discussion of past seasons and/or contestants and/or dancers to the appropriate threads, we'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

KNOCK IT OFF!!!
This is the Dillard thread. If your comment is not about Derick, Jill, and Israel, it does not belong here and will be deleted. If part of your post is about something other than Derick, Jill, and Israel, the whole post will be deleted.
Period. End of discussion.
There are no newbies here. You all know better.
Now, off to delete a bunch of posts in addition to the ones I've already deleted.

Folks, let's stay on topic.
That means discussing the current episode and taking other discussions to their appropriate threads.
Thanks.

I don't mind older kids doing Trick or Treat. My townhouse community closes off one of the cul-de-sacs and does Trunk or Treat for the little bitty kids, so usually we get no one younger than 8 at our door. It's just candy, and I'm glad they're running around having a good time.

After discussion with the site administrator, we are permanently deleting the links to the re-edits, as well as any posts quoting those links and any other questionable links or videos.
If in doubt, contact a mod before inserting a link, video, photo, etc.
Any future posts with such links will be deleted and the poster will be found in violation.
We need to be firm on this due to legal liability issues.
Thanks for understanding.

His final rant was all about how nobody but his loyal fans had the mental depth to look beyond the surface and understand that the participants were actually excellent matches and their own selfishness was what caused the matches not to work not Ryan D's temper, Seans anxiety or Ryan R missing his mommy.
This is the funniest thing I've read in several days.

I agree that many of the Christian-Maria interactions we see are actually re-enactments.
Christian seems to be doing what Michael keeps telling him to do! Save MONEY! Honor Tradition! Don't get in trouble with the ELDERS!
Christian strikes me as taking everything Michael says to an extreme. He's too young, inexperienced, immature, unintelligent, or whatever to understand that there are shades of grey.
Another question: Why doesn't Michael see this inability in his son? Michael strikes me as pretty unobservant when it comes to his kids. If that's because his culture leaves child-rearing entirely up to the women, then we're seeing the failure of that cultural element.

S28: Previews and Speculation
in The Amazing Race
No, this is the time of year the Race starts IRL for the next season. The timing of the cast announcement is weird, but I can think of several reasons why CBS might have done it this way.
We'll be starting the team threads when the need seems to arise. It could be awfully confusing to have them concurrent with the TAR 27 team threads, however.
