  1. I have a fair amount of favorite moments, but the two that readily come to mind are when the group performs(?) the theme song of The Odd Couple at the start of "The One With The Dozen Lasagnas", and when they were whistling the theme of The Bridge on the River Kwai in "The One With All The Poker" while working on Rachel's job applications.
  2. "Caliban" does seem to be very menacing, but I guess being abandoned cold by your "demon" of a creator would do that to you. Nevertheless, the only reason I am not very sympathetic towards him is that he bloody well ripped Proteus in half, and just when I was starting to really like the guy.
  3. I'm sure the lot of you have already seen this AV Club interview of Timothy Dalton, but I really appreciated what he said about the character of Sir Malcolm: I do think that this is a role that would have fallen flat in the hands of a less capable actor. Boy, Timothy Dalton sure nails it quite well.
  4. I've always a soft spot for Jackie Chan's fight scenes in his movies, especially the Golden Harvest era movies. My thoughts were always along the lines of "that was stupid of you guys to corner him in a hardware store". Nevertheless, I still think his best weapon is that small bench he always uses for blocking and trapping opponents.
  5. He's the Friend I like the most out of the six, so I wanted to start a topic about him. (Also, I'm hard-pressed to think about good taglines for the other five.) I was totally struck by Roger's (Phoebe's squeeze in "The One With The Boobies") observation about Chandler: "I wouldn't wanna be there when the laughter stops". This is because my love for Chandler is in no small part due to my similarities with him, like using sarcasm and humor as a front for his insecurities. That's why I was really glad that Monica eventually did hook up and then marry him. My personal fanwank is that the reason Chandler became less snarkier as the series progressed was due to him no longer having to be so snarky, due to his relationship with Monica. So, discuss Chandler Muriel Bing here.
  6. I really liked Rebecca/Rachel, but I also had the sense of dread that she was way too good to be true, and POOF! she really was a particular kind of bastard, to use Hagen's words. Man, Bridget Regan was awesome.
  7. I came relatively late (only started watching a few months after the series finale), but after mainlining all seasons, I was irreversibly hooked. I'd say that although some of the lines and looks in the show date it (e.g. the twin towers, Chandler rattling off his new computer's specs), it's still more funny than most of the other shows of the past five or so years. I'm still in shock that it's been almost twenty years since it started. Another little thing: lucky for me, the nearby used-book shop was selling Friends-related books at a very affordable price a few days ago. Bought 'em all.
