Edit:  That Amber girl is PERFECT for Bree.  Not too pretty, but still striking.  So's the Sharon girl.  I think I'm going to rest easy about the casting - their casting director's amazing and going to get it right.

    Bahahahaha.  BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  -SNORT!-

OMG, I was such the sweet summer child...

Although the Seanchan are an evil empire

I never actually found the Seanchan to be evil per se.  They were likely as close to the Old World Order as possible, and they had pretty strict codes and directives that traced all the way back to the voice of authority.  Like, for real and without doubt.  Renna kind of hit on it in the last episode, they were, ultimately, fighting for the most noble cause of the Light.

  3. My favorite scenes so far are Renna and Egwene - those two actors are nailing some really intense work and taking it to the next level.  The way the actor plays Renna is..disturbing, perturbing, and stunning. And the actor playing Egwene is very, very good.  I think she said all of 5 words in this episode and yet, that's all that was needed.  I'm loving Lanfear.  It's like Puck x Cruella DeVil x Glinda.  Much less fun in the books.  Ishy's interesting too.  The books didn't really develop the forsaken as much as the show seems to be able to, from a character standpoint, and I'm rather enjoying the way the medium is fleshing them out. In the books they were just "Evil with Historical Facts".

The Queen of Cairhein appears to be a change from the books? I've seen some speculation that she is going to turn out to be Morgase, but as far as I know that's just speculation.

This show is a freakin' abomination from casting to storytelling.  Unless you've read the books nothing makes sense, and if you've read the books, what they're doing is infuriating.  It's pretty critical that Morgase be Elayne's mom FFS!

I'm watching it just to find out how bad it can really get.  Perhaps to wash the taint of Game of Thrones from my memory.

Same. I really enjoy the Aiel and even though she isn't how I pictured the character

Aiel are very purposefully described as tall, light skinned (though tanned from exposure), and often red haired or blond.  Throughout the entire series, Rand is repeatedly mistaken for an Aiel, including by the old veteran from last episode, because they universally look like that. This remains an important plot point throughout the entire series.

I am curious whether that whole plot point with the Greys will happen now.

There is absolutely zero chance that plot point will not make it into the show.

You'd think the time it takes to reload the rifles that there would still be value in archers. I never got that.

The military of the time usually had 3 men working every rifle, though it's not depicted properly in the show.  The shooter would shoot, and then drop the gun.  The middle man would hand it back to the powder men who were loading as fast as they could while the middle man picked up the reloaded one they'd primed and get it to the shooter.  Sometimes they only used 2 and the back guy did double duty. It kind of worked like a bucket line for fires back in the day.

And the show even tried to lay the groundwork for Susie not knowing by having Midge ask her about Gordon's wife, and Susie telling her she didn't know anything.

That was after she'd seen the photo wasn't it?

  9. The 3rd season is confirmed! I'm so glad Amazon knew what they were hiring with Clarkson, and didn't cancel him for his utterly uncurable case of foot-in-mouth disease.  Despite his many faults, he's doing a wonderful thing for the local farmers there, farming in general, great things with his oodles of land for local wildlife, and creating a tourism industry for the surrounding villages as well.

It's entirely possible, and maybe even plausible, that Aemma would have died in childbirth anyway but this... was unnecessary cruelty.

It's really not.  When allowed to labor naturally, over 70% of breech births can be safely born via the standard process as long as the medicos keep their hands off the baby.

Guys - I didn't love it.  In fact, I was bored by the whole thing. There was too much D&D and not enough GRRM and we know how that ends up.  Have fun with this show, I'm out.

They however have gone well and way past sustenance hunting and kill everything that moves for the sake of profit.

Why shouldn't they use their skills to put money away for retirement?  It's not like they have a retirement plan from a job.

The Alaskan profit sharing funds are like $1500/yr.  Hardly wealth.

What is the opinion on Allan flipping out when Claire went to pick up the baby's coffin? Not that he wouldn't have a lot of grief for Malva, but the way he was holding the coffin was quite possessive imo.

Bastard or no, it was his nephew.

    Matches.

She clearly stated she remembered how to make them theoretically.  Bree invents nothing in the entire series, she just brings knowledge backwards in time and adapts to the materials present. She is an engineer, not an inventor.
