Maybe it's my new larger tv, but I never noticed Maysal Faysal's acne scars before. Part of me wonders if it's an editing choice to portray him with less polish than previous seasons, like the editors are now in on making him the villain.
Jordan is ridiculous, but I loved the "terrorists" line because I love the Challenge when it is ridiculous. We don't get enough Stupid Brigade in these newer seasons.
Ah, Nelly...I was running scenarios between the four once they lost and couldn't see a way he'd be safe unless he drew the dagger. The bonds of the others just overpowered his ties. Not even the consequisences of his actions, as he so eloquently put it.

This is one of the few scripted shows I'm watching these days and these two episodes really sold why. Just clever and heartfelt. And a lesson to always let the electricians work on the sconces.

After some time to ponder this one...I'll allow it. There have been seasons and winners that weren't my cup of tea before, ones I thought should have gone another way...but I also have long argued that the winner is the winner, no matter the means that got them there.
Overall, a decent season. I liked the final challenge this time around, as I'd expected Simmotion and was interested that they changed it up. By the end, I wasn't overly endeared to anyone nor did I actively dislike anyone, which is a weird vibe in a Survivor season.

I'm losing all my TWoPpy snark in my old age, apparently, because I enjoyed this and would have been okay with any of the last three pulling out a win. The challenges seemed good, even if they didn't shake the order up a lot (but that might have been partly on Derek and his speed.)
I'm ready for a return to a "regular" season but I was very content with this ep and the season as a whole...I really am getting soft.

Just because I'm pedantic, which wins me friends IRL and across the internet, Jesse wasn't in prison, but in juvie...it varies by state whether that's public record/needs to be disclosed.

My, my, my...that was fun. I don't have any longtime-viewer insights at the moment, because I'm just amused by some tribal chess. Or I hope it's chess...for all I know Jesse is playing chess on Gabler's backgammon board. But kudos to CBS for a fun ep, as much as I usually criticize the editing monkeys.

I am an evil lawyer, but I totally get where AzraeltheCat is coming from...
My use of handwavium varies by episode, but a longrunning bit in our lawyer-filled house is to say "Oh, Louisiana is so different!" every time something in a court room or legal situation doesn't make sense.

I thought Parker was oddly manic, too, but supplied my own fan explanations for it just so I could move on. But you're all right that it was an odd choice for the character.
I loved the Mountie bit, though, because the RCMP usually doesn't get much respect on US tv.

I can't say I enjoyed their exclusion of some really notable GOAT contenders, but it is very BMP of them to cultivate the story the way they want it to be told. Almost a story in itself about what they are presenting and excluding.

Oh, Nelly...Nelly, Nelly, Nelly...you're a good narrator for this season and I love the chaos you bring, plus your continual hope of finding True Love on the Challenge, but...I'm not sure that was the smartest use of the save power.

I really enjoyed this season. I had my guesses over the course of it all, but being less eagle-eyed and astute than most of you, I was repeatedly wrong. Which is something I love about The Mole.
I really enjoyed the fortress challenge at the end. I thought it was a good task that wasn't overwhelming (I'd still be on the icy mountain, frozen in terror) and showcased some gameplay.

I'm still liking it. I like the quirky nature of the show and the guests each week, compared to the heavy-duty stories of the mainline MCU. The support group was exactly the same sort of weirdness I liked, especially when I compare it to the support group Steve Rogers attended post-blip. The MCU is a weird, weird place and have diverged from "our" times so something like Man-Bull just showing up really intrigues me.

Finally caught up...
I enjoyed it. With 12 teams, there wasn't much chance of me keeping a running scoresheet in my head, so I didn't mind the Scramble. It gave us teams being forced to think and navigate on the first leg, which I've found a bit too lacking sometimes in the "go here, then go here..." version of clues...
Here's to hoping Derek X next appears on Survivor instead of Love Island to complete his CBS reality tour. Or I guess maybe that one moved to Peacock so they're safe.

Just started Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, the third of four in her Locked Tomb sci fi-fantasy-horror-allthegoodstuff series.

I really enjoyed this ep. My dating days were done long before there was an app for that, so I have no knowledge of the workings beyond what's a normal comedy trope. I just like when we get more non-CGI Tatiana reacting to things.

Really strong episode. Lane Factor really brings so much to Cheese and getting a bit more about his kind (wounded) heart felt important.

From instagram, it looks like the Schroeders have cameras in their offices again, so another season may be forthcoming. I hadn't heard anything about it.

That dance number...worth the price of admission.
Anything following "Mabel" is going to have a hard time, but I liked this latest entry. I've been to a lot of work conferences over the years and the escapism in such small ways felt real. The lingering conflict was a nice touch, if making for an awkward party.

I'm not going to admit to tearing up, but "Mabel" may have made it a bit dusty in my room as I watched it. Allergies, I guess. It tapped some real life stuff I'm dealing with but presented the community gathering and mourning in such a real way that I probably could have teared up, if I was that sort of person. Which I'm totally not. Seriously.

It's too bad Anna is gone. I didn't really like her last solo--felt a bit too manic and repetitive for me, but then, I'm a casual dance fan and maybe I just missed the artistic point. Nigel would have perved all over her during his seasons, but she had an interesting look and style that held my attention.
-
I remain torn as a casual fan of dance but longtime viewer of this series. I don't miss Nigel's perviness or his iron-clad views on gender roles in dance, but he did judge. I don't miss Mary at all, to be honest. I'm glad to see some different types moving along this year, but I'm also disappointed in overall quality. On and on...every plus has a minus this season.
I felt Lex really outshone Beau to a tragic extent, but none of them really kept up with their pro dancers this time around.
-
@LittleIggy, nothing drastic. Just a lot of "please please watch" posts in quick succession that felt tinged with desperation. It may entirely be my cynical mind in action.
The Prisoner is the basis for my use of the image, as a holdover from my TWoP avatar referencing that show.
-
I'll give the limited series a thumbs up. If it comes back for a second season and I have to reconsider who knows. Star Wars always has the same reaction with me--it's the first movie I saw in the theater and I'm always immediately consumed by nostalgia and childlike wonder. Later on I can look at the plot holes and mcguffins and apply some adult sensibilities...but for right now, I'm really liking the finale.

Speaking of, WTF was up with his master "strategy" of purposely missing the first question?
For all his success on the Challenge, I think someone could make a supercut of all the times Wes announced some strategy that instantly failed. Yet it never stops his next master plan or his confidence in the plans...

The Challenge in the Media: "The road to [fame] is straight and narrow."

Second. They have a little boy as well. Probably tempers some of Zach's disappointment in having a girl that the boy was firstborn.
