  1. Definitely a little sad that this is the end, but seven seasons is nothing to sneeze at in this day and age. Plus, usually moving time-slots means its getting to that point that it's on its way out anyway. I did like this quote from Freddie: especially the last part! Also, I missed it but apparently Chuku Modu will be back as a regular for the final season. Hope they get Antonia Thomas back for at least one episode. Maybe even Hill Harper too, although I know he is busy with the political campaign and whatnot.
  2. Damn, they really are doing what they can to get all of the Reservation Dogs cast members here! We got both Jana Schmieding (Bev) and Dallas Goldtooth (The Spirit Guide) popping up in minor roles here. I wonder who might show up next?! Maya is definitely falling into the classic trap of prioritizing her need for revenge over everything else and even though she claims that it is all "part of her plan", it sees clear as day that it is likely going to backfire and blowback on her community. No way the Fisk organization is just going to let an explosive delivery not go unanswered. And that's not even including the fact that Fisk himself isn't actually gone. Should have double-tapped, Maya! Liked seeing more of Chula and Skully, and getting some more Tantoo Cardinal and Graham Greene awesomeness. Interestingly, the characters didn't say much about each other, so I wonder if they are no longer together? Maybe the tragedy twenty years ago was too much for them. Bonnie already finds out about Maya, because that's what happens when you team up with someone who willingly calls himself Biscuits.... I'm guessing all of these flashbacks are going to be Maya's various ancestors and will likely play a part when she gets her ultimate power: whatever that may be.
  3. The choice of using YMCA for when Roy was rallying the troops really was the chef kiss. They and those like them really think they are the shit, but are just easy manipulated fools, who will likely fall hard once they get a taste of real opposition. Not surprised Dot found a way out and managed to stay one step ahead through most of it. Definitely think it was a case of her knowing the ins and outs of this ranch that gave her an edge (especially since Roy probably has beyond underestimated her.) Curious to see if she will get her revenge and if she will come out ahead. Hard to tell: I can see her getting that happy ending or I can see some of her previous actions eventually coming back to haunt her. Lorraine might sell herself as a ruthless, heartless boss who even has the "orange man" under her thumb, but I think her reaction to Danish's fate and concern for Dot was sincere. I think she is someone who does care for those loyal to her and the loss of her confidant; probably someone who was close to her in ways others aren't; would hurt her to the core. Jennifer Jason Leigh continues to be fantastic here. Munch proves his worth as the wildcard! Blinds Gator AND pops in to save Dot when all seemed lost because he wants her to be free to fight and not caged. Trying to kill him after the initial failed kidnapping attempt might have been Roy's biggest mistake that will lead to his downfall.
  4. Outside of the opening Choctaw origin segment, I can definitely tell this show is trying to emulate the previous Netflix Marvel shows, compared to the Disney+ ones. Not just the violence (which, while more graphic than normal, still isn't as bad as some shows can get), but the general feel of grittiness and brutality as well. We'll see if they can keep it up throughout the five episodes, but it at least helps set it apart. Glad they inserted some of the Hawkeye stuff again, because I admittedly forgot parts of it like Fisk being the one behind William/Echo's dad's death. Of course, my favorite callback was seeing the "Trust a Bro" van again. I kind of miss those merry band of idiots. Certainly wouldn't mind getting more flashbacks, if this means more William since Zahn McClarnon is the best and should be on as many television shows as he is allowed to be! Added bonus of getting both Graham Greene and Tantoo Cardinal as well. Just need to find a way to get Wes Studi here as well... I knew Matt/Daredevil would show up at some point, but I wasn't expecting it to already happen! Fight scene was pretty good. I'm guessing that is Bonnie that Maya is keeping an eye on but refusing to meet. I'm sure she'll obviously factor in soon since that is Devery Jacobs double-dipping into the MCU (she also voiced Kahhori in this season's What If...?) Smart enough not to drag out the obvious twist that Fisk isn't dead. Kingpin will no doubt be out for some revenge and Vincent D'Onofrio has got some scenery to dine on (in the best way possible)!
  5. Figured it would be Oppenheimer after all of its acting and directing wins. We will see if the Oscars go the same way though. Hasn't in the past but it does feel like the new voting system/members have made things different compared to previous years.
  6. Lily Gladstone wins! Suspect she is going to have the most emotional speech tonight.
  7. Weird as hell that May December is considered a comedy. Poor Things takes it over Barbie and The Holdovers! Pretty solid win, I think. Hope this leads to it coming to my area soon.
  8. Figured it was either going to be Giamatti or Wright. Kind of wanted it to be Damon, so that he would be a two time winner in comedy after his performance in the hilarious romp, The Martian (still love that film, but it being considered a comedy never gets old for me.)
  9. Succession goes out on a high note here! Lets see how it plays out at the Emmys. A little sad The Last of Us got shutout though.
  10. Sarah Snook!! Tom and Shiv are a power couple now!!!
  11. The Bear wins Best Comedy and will no doubt cause plenty of "Is it really a comedy, guys?" debate on the internet. To be fair, Barry also being including really kind of shows how odd the comedy category has become.
  12. Simu Liu and Issae Rae really want to play those alcoholic roles that normally go to white actors. Smash that glass ceiling, guys! Might be the first time road rage was thanked at an awards show!
  13. So, Barbie wins this new award for making a Barbillion dollars at the box office. Cool, I guess? Oh, hey! Harley Quinn and Joker reunite!
  14. Figured Barbie would take song, but didn't think it would be Billie Eillish's song instead of "I'm Just Ken." I wonder how it will play out come Oscar time.
  15. Ludwig has probably guaranteed himself to be Nolan's new Han Zimmer going forward.
  16. Either Emma's got some "Play me off in 18 seconds? Fuck that shit!" clout, or they really are worried Michelle Yeoh will kick the entire orchestra's asses. Cillian Murphy wins it and not just because he looks good in that hat! Dude is extremely talented as well!
  17. Man, this is cruel! How can make me pick between Emma Stone and Margot Robbie?! Not surprised it was Emma though. Heard her performance in Poor Things is something to behold.
  18. Nolan wins and gets that standing ovation. Yeah, I think there are a lot of people who want him to finally get that Oscar. Aww, and he has to mention Heath Ledger. Gone way, way, way too soon.
  19. The Boy and the Heron over Spider-Verse? Animated Feature has gotten interesting now.
  20. Kieran Culkin does it! Roman beats daddy and older brother for the gold! Ha, it's like a PG version of Roman. Right down to starting a war with Pedro Pascal! Fight, fight!
  21. Yeah, I'm not surprised that Kevin Costner wasn't first in line for Barbie. Really, probably any film the past ten years unless it featured cowboy hats and horses. Another win for The Bear! Only Cousin Richie fell short, but he might have better luck at the Emmys since the categories will be split there.
  22. Definitely something fitting about a) Ricky Gervais being the first winner for stand-up and b) not even bothering to show up. Classic Globes!
  23. Jeremy Allen White: "Give me a Golden Globe, now!" Voters: "Yes, Chef!!!"
  24. Across the Spider-Verse gang also bringing in the laughs, unlike a certain someone else here... Anatomy of a Fall takes screenplay. Hmm, this could be an interesting night.
  25. Damn right, Matthew MacFayden wins! His performance as Tom was a standout amongst what was overall a pretty damn amazing ensemble.
