  1. I’ve enjoyed this show and only had issues with OTT sunny as a personality.  Obviously the recipes are not very interesting anymore.
You guys talk about needing new personalities but I’m going to suggest the show needs a new network. The Food Network is so far down the rabbit hole of “personalities and brand management” that there is literally nothing left authentic on this network at all.
This show in particular is just strung together hosts, each primarily focused on executing their dialogue and character.  Prepping, cooking and organically chatting are barely existent on this show.
Maybe all new production team and management I don’t know.
But an hour long, multi person stand and stir CLEARLY gets ratings so figure it out FN!  I want this show to be good!

  2. I know they’ve tried to become The Place for Politics but that’s not always news. News is what is happening currently in the world. I’d they are going to do breaking news then do it well. Bring in anchors that can handle it, affiliates that can get video and live shots. Or just continue with politics and let news channels do news. The Food network does not try to do breaking news for a reason.
CNN did a great job with the hurricane. I wish they would drop the opinion and talk politics shows- just be straight news.

  3. I haven’t watched in a while but MSNBC needs to do better with breaking news. They just can’t pivot off their scripts.

Just asking though, does it really matter if CC covers the AC scandal when it's being covered before him and after him?

CC and Don Lemon are not, I believe, classified as news shows. They are opinion shows. I don’t think CNN need CCs opinion on his brother nor do I think he probably wants to share that with the world.

I have to admit, I'm really not entirely clear why the body was hidden in a freezer for thirty years, or who did what to who.... the three guys Fogarty, Ram and Dean chased the victim, the vic tripped and hit his head, Dean decides to stab him in the head with a pen, Ram comes by and does cpr.... and then they decide to stuff the body in the car and never wonder where Fogarty disposed of it?

I love this show but this! The actual crime made no sense to me. Why did they hide the body. They police trainees, surely savvy enough to make an anonymous 911 call if they didn’t want to be involved in explaining an accident- which they all thought it was. Except Dean obviously -did he convince them to hide the body? How did he convince them? And why were they all so traumatized by it? I don’t mean to be cold but they all believed it was an accident and they hid a dead body. “It’s ruined my whole life” more than one character said.
Why was Dean able to blackmail Ram into helping him w cocaine smuggling?

they made Ram a complicated character, sexual harasser, race baiter, husband w pregnancy issues, the one person who did CPR on the victim, disliked by his father (never explained). But all that for nothing none of that really mattered

I truly love this show but this plot was not great for me. Why not have made Dean the murderer as they did, but make each person KNOW he murdered and they covered up? Maybe each could have known but not known the others knew, thought they were the only one that knowingly covered up a murder.
that would be traumatizing and “ruin a life”

maybe I didn’t watch carefully enough

  6. Episode 5 was better I thought. Altho the situation between the Dinckers and Dan is kinda ridiculous

I noticed in this episode Dan provided little to no value to the case. To the point where, he n Donckers were interviewing someone at their house, she got a call and walked out of the room and he just looked at the suspect shrugged silently. Like he can’t continue the conversation?
im glad we seem to be done w the relationship.
agree w poster that said Donckers is milquetoast. She has the angry attitude but not really any drive and life

  7. The lack of rapport between the characters is really glaring. There’s none of the underlying affection and warmth between anyone. I don’t even remember the interactions between him and Most other characters. Just one liners.
anyway I’m going to keep watching bucuz I have to see if it gets better or do they bring this level of cold and restraint to the next seasons which get pretty intense and emotional.

I kinda felt that way too, but she did get drunk & have sex with him.  And she's had plenty of opportunities to shut him DOWN, but she keeps doing the flirty thing with him.  As if NO doesn't actually mean NO, but means maybe.  I'm seeing her throwing him plenty of mixed signals.

Maybe others aren't seeing it.  But it's still annoying as hell.

You’re right. It’s inappropriate flirting at work. She has try to shut him down but always kinda flirty. And he needs to shut the hell up at work about his desire for her.
UK Donkers seems kinda personality less. Even the way she got Prof T to get involved was lifeless. Hey I could learn a lot from you. Ok.
Dan also doesn’t have a lot of personality going on. Maybe cuz the show is new and we are just meeting all the characters  🤷‍♀️

  9. 3 episodes and wow they took all the fun and charm out of the original version. It’s just got an unpleasant, tense atmosphere. Agree w above poster who commented that the flirting between the two cops reads as sexual harassment.

OG T had a humor to his personality. The chemistry is totally nowhere with the whole cast. The energy between him and the admin is so lifeless. The chief Detective lady is all whispery and weird. Was this filmed during Covid maybe that explains the lack of chemistry amongst the cast?

Yeah, Rambler, they still overdo the tartar sauce. Like you, I have to wipe off a lot of that gross white stuff. Give me just the squishy bun, Alaskan Pollock, and yes, that square of American cheese, and I'm a happy girl.

I order it “ light tartar sauce”. Comes w just a dollop that is perfect. Only problem is this special order is usually cooked fresh so it’s super hot and I have to wait to eat it!

  11. I found this episode boring and lacking focus. They could have used the vintage equipment and standard home equipment in the EC. Home cooks, home equipment, easily accessible ingredients (no banana leaves!) but make something w depth of flavor, complex and amazing. I like the zoom cooking party idea above, might have been interesting where the home cook says well it didn’t work I’m ordering pizza for my guests.
these challenges where there are too many factors, such as write a recipe, home cooks, 90 minutes, guest chefs, 2 entrees for judges become so complicated that it is hard to know what to focus on. As is clearly the case in this episode as it just came off boring.
there was really no point to having the cheftestants cook their entree too. The esteemed judges know what food should taste and look like. They should have just judged what was produced by the recipe.

I don’t think we’re supposed to listen to the air-filling jabber. Sunny: grilling asparagus is like blanching them with the heat. (Wha?) Moments later: add parsley because we’ve lost the bright green of the asparagus. Oops, you blanch, in part, to keep the bright color. C’mon, Sunny.

I heard all that too. That segment was a mess. I am always so glad when she is off the screen. Meanwhile she is SCREAMING every time she spins the wheel. Is it her life’s mission to disrupt my nap?

  13. I used to watch FN a lot, all the Baking Championships, next FN star, stand and stirs etc... I can’t watch any of it anymore. Their schtick is so stale. Connect w a personal story. Shows like worst cook and several other competition shows seem very fake and scripted. And way too much pioneer woman god have mercy show more of the other stand and stirs!

I had to stop watching TC because of the background music. If I turn it down to where I can stand it, I can't hear/understand the dialog.

Please tell me I'm not the only one. It's very disappointing.

The production seems off this season. The sound level of the background music is to high, the graphics are an unreadable color and flashed too quickly, and it feels to me like the editing is showing a dizzying amount of split second cuts and when the camera lingers for a any length of time it’s on faces and not food.

I think it may also be on The Acorn streaming service; also The Roku Channel?  I have also been watching it since the beginning.  Anyone remember one of the murders was accomplished by catapulting wine bottles at an intended victim?  I think the new episodes will be returning to PBS.

This is my all time favorite episode. Peak creativity w the murders. Then another guy is killed by putting his head in a box that looks like a TV and drowning him!

  16. I’m never gonna get the names straight they barely flash them up, unreadable!  The elimination challenge they barely showed the food.
it’s hard to connect the fish w the chef when there’s so many and they’re flashing the names and not showing the plates on the table.
