  1. As far as the baggies on Hazel’s mittens it’s probably to keep her mittens from getting soaked so her hands stay warm. If the mittens aren’t waterproof the snow soaks them pretty quickly making them uncomfortable her hands would get really cold.

  2. I think the white stuff was a packet of ranch dressing mix. The soup looked awful. Meanwhile Josie was making a pot of chicken soup that looked good.

I am confused- Carlin said the stores were sold out of winter clothing yet then she showed both kids outside in full winter gear. Of course Josie’s girls had all the right winter outerwear.

I think the wife of the couple was a U.S. citizen, or dual citizen, it was the husband that was becoming a U.S. citizen, and probably is by now.    Several of the couples who were buying in Laurel were planning to retire there, and were renting out a lot of the time.  The other Canadian couple who bought the house with the giant holly bush Ben ripped down with a truck were doing that, and I think the Zen room couple from California were renting at least some of the time until they retired.   The pumped up on Laurel people from last season were going to be part time, at least I think they were, I could be wrong.

That was the couple from BC I think. But I was referring to the couple from Ontario on the season premiere last week. He had joint issues which would make the whole healthcare issue even more problematic. There was no mention of jobs or citizenship, so it’s hardly surprising that they are putting the house on Air B&B and only visiting when they can.

  4. I think the Canadian couple wanted a vacation home, not necessarily to move to Laurel full time. I’m not sure if they were able to work remotely but without work visas they can’t just get jobs. Then there is the whole healthcare issue.

I can't get a good enough read on him to say whether he discourages Josie from having family over or spending time with them, but it was incredibly strange when Alyssa didn't visit after Josie had Hazel, and Katie doesn't go to her house ever when she's in town. Maybe they've just all grown apart and gone their separate ways, but it's sad for sisters who were once so close.

This is the couple who got a one bedroom apartment specifically so no one could sleep over. And when they bought their house the third bedroom went from being a storage room for her shop to a playroom for the girls. They obviously have no desire for a guest room because they do not want overnight guests. Not even the sisters Josie was so close to when she was growing up.

Josie has a husband who brings in a good income. She shouldn’t be dependent on social media.

This is true but I also think he is fine with her doing her influencer thing if it means bringing in extra $$$ or expensive products they otherwise couldn’t afford. She shills less than Carlin or Whitney and these days she is mostly promoting her own shop goods.

  7. Kelton is off-putting to me as well. He is a hard worker and seems to be a good dad, but still there is something about him that just feels not quite right.
I do think that all the siblings know better than to encourage Carlin and Evan to hang out too much because once that door is open there are no limits. Katie has distance on her side. But I also think that while Carlin is far from being very close to Josie they do see each other occasionally. I have seen photos of Layla with Willow and Hazel.

It’s possible that everyone appears to keep their distance so as not to dilute their social media presence. They all do depend on that to have the nice things they enjoy.

  8. I’m sorry, but the whole bungling Jim schtick along with the fake Jim vs Josh competition did nothing for me.

The house looked great in the end but I am afraid that the show is really venturing into Chip Gaines levels of goofiness. I hope this was just a product of Ben’s surgery.

  9. Alyssa and John finally got their house painted. Surprise, surprise it’s light grey with white trim and blue grey garage doors.

To be fair,  the HOA may have a very limited colour palette, and it does look much nicer. I hope they get their fence done too because it looks just awful next to the freshly painted house. It’s a wood fence painted white and I assume the Florida climate is not kind to painted wood.
New car, new couch, and paying to get someone to paint the house?  I guess they are doing well.
There were a few lingering shots of the contractor’s sign in the yard so they may have negotiated a discount.

  10. What a sad Christmas for those kids.

Who opens gifts on the 22nd?  The 24th, sure, but the 22nd? Makes no sense to me.
Alyssa has done the matching shoes for Christmas before but they were Adidas or Nike and she and John got some as well. That I can understand to a certain extent, but you will notice there were no matching cheap shoes for Mom 🙄.
And sizing up “so the shoes last longer”? That’s a big no. Sure, if the child is between sizes going up a half size is fine, but kids shouldn’t be walking in shoes a size too big.

I understand not wanting to spoil the kids too much, but at least put some thought into the stockings and give each girl something different that SHE would enjoy. And not a candy cane or small treat to be seen. Sad.

  11. My husband has had kidney stones in the past. He naturally produces a lot of uric acid and is also prone to gout. He  has a prescription to reduce his production of uric acid/purines and he has not had a recurrence of either the stones or the gout. It runs in his family- his brother also has the same problem.

That said, maybe Katie’s diet is the problem. No one else in the family seems to have had any issues.

  12. Good on Whitney for postponing the trip.
I know little kids are susceptible to getting sick. My grandchildren have been trading colds for weeks, but they do go to school. You would think that homeschooling the kids would lessen their exposure to viruses and infections but the Bates grandchildren still seem to pick up everything out there.

Also wonder if Whitney has already weaned Lily Jo? I know she was pumping and then bottle feeding but the baby should have been getting some protection from the antibodies in the breast milk. Honestly I have never heard of such a young baby getting strep- especially since it doesn’t seem that any of the older kids are sick.

Katie also was pumping and bottle feeding. It almost seems like they have some sort of hang up about actually nursing their babies. I know that it doesn’t come easy for everyone  and they may have had issues, but it just seems odd that mothers who are home would pump instead of nursing.

With a handrail, my kids did stairs between 18 months and 2 years as did my grandkids.  This was at home not out in public where they could easily be pushed or become distracted.  They never fell onto, down, or off the stairs.  If they live with stairs daily, they can learn to navigate them.

This makes perfect sense. However , in the video you can see there is no handrail ( is that a code violation?). Plus Zade was going down the middle of the stairs.
